Race #3 of 2001 season- New Bloomfield, PA

May 5, 2001-Susquehanna Region SCCA-(Harrisburg area). This race was the first event at an actual kart track for this region-something a little different. That eliminates the worries about going off course since it was set-up like an actual mini-racetrack. It was a little tight, though, since it was obviously not made for full sized cars-but this wasn't the first time cars had driven here. Porsche clubs in central PA have used this before for autox. I did fine on my first 2 of 4 runs, but encountered rain for my final 2 runs and even had to use my wipers throughout those 2 runs! Not good on old tires. I ran in the 2nd of 4 heats for the day, and my 3rd and 4th runs were the only ones that had been in the rain. The rain stopped after my final run, and by the time the 3rd heat started the track was dry again! What luck. So I ran the first 2 runs with expectation of having 2 more dry runs, and then got thrown off by the weather, and got shafted. I'll just have to head out there again and see what I can do-IN THE DRY! I ended up 3rd of 6 in STS, 17th of 55 overall-getting better.
