The Pool-Dog's World Race #5 of 2001 Season- Wilkes Barre, PA

A big Thanks to Alan Pozner of the Susquehanne Region for the free set of Bridgstone RE-010 Tires!!!
Sorry, no Pictures
June 10, 2001-NEPA Region SCCA-at the Wyoming Valley Mall again. As stated above- Alan Pozner runs an Integra TypeR in the Susquehanna Region SCCA and had some used OEM tires from that car that he was willing to give away to get them out of the garage-well-ya can't pass up a deal like that! They had 16Kmi's on them and a heavily worn shoulder, but were perfect for my needs-race only, mounted on the stock rims. They are the same size as my OEM tires-195/55/15, and have a 140 tread rating, the limit of STS class.

Well, the tires were amazing. I've never had the luck of racing with grip before, and these tires just stuck to the course. -and it was a good thing, since this course was much tighter than the previous event at this lot, with many 180 switchbacks and a mini-skidpad as well... I never encountered understeer through any turn at any speed-it actually threw me off at first since they gripped so well that I didn't know their limits... my new problem arose, though-I gripped so well that on such a tight course I couldn't hold on to anything and was flying all over the place! Anyone wanna donate some4 pt harnesses?? I loved it. I ran well, and could see from my video of my runs that I still made many mistakes that held me back from knocking off another 1/2 sec. or so from my best "clean" run. Either way I finshed 1st in STS of 7 drivers, and 3rd in PAX of 47. Tightest course I've ever driven, perfect test for the new (to me) tires, and a great end result!

Gotta love the first win in STS... hopefully more will come in the future!
