Tarvina's Biography

How does a personal style evolve? Mixing into an original eclectic fusion of alternative, pop, trance with some good soulful grooves and world flavors is
one take on it...
Tarvina was born in California but raised on the
East Coast in Baltimore, where Soul is for real... There were always international influences at home, though. Asia, Africa, India, Europe, all fascinated Tarvina as she developed her interests in music. She began piano at the age of four, her first band at the age of 10. Mystical experiences kept her seeking for her place in the world of music. Inspired by her oldest brother's band, White Lights, she wanted to lead a band and moved back to California when she was 18 to pursue an artistic career.
After a few years of studying expressive arts, Tarvina
lived in Southern France, studying ethnic music, leading a dance group with incredible African musicians and hosting a radio show where she translated British and American lyrics for French listeners. Back in the states, her next project was in another band, Security Council with an African musican named Sam.
After finishing her degree in Theatre & Dance, which included lots of music classes, like piano, voice, rhythm analysis, music theory, international music and songwriting, Tarvina went on to produce her own local tv show called, Radiance thru Dance Meditation, where her sense of movement and ritual came together to deepen her artistic vision for global healing.
Since then, her life has focused on music as an artistic voyage and evolutionary medium.

Highlights of her journey in music have been working with Narada Michael Walden, meeting the Tubes, performing on an interactive dance matte for Billy Idol that controlled sound and light with infrared light beams, meeting Jon Anderson of the group, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Alan Parsons, Todd R, Edgar Winter, Baba Olatunje, Vernon Black, Jai Uttal, et al., seeing amazing performances by lots of artists like Janet Jackson, Taj Majal, Gil Scott Heron, Aerosmith, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, countless others, and studying Seth Riggs program, and with Edward Sayegh, Martin Frick, James Gardner, Sabina Elizabeth, etc.

Tarvina has now lives in the San Francisco bay area of California. And is warming up for the days to come in New York, Baltimore, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Bombay, Bali, Sydney, Tokyo, Athens, Ibizia, Paris, Rome, Frejus, Venice, London and...Write me your favorite venue near you and I'll add it to my list!
