Spreads
Spreads are what are used to interpret the Tarot in a divination sense. The cards are laid out in a particular fashion and then depending on where the card falls in the spread, a conclusion is made as to what is going to happen. The spreads are the most interesting part for the newbie as they offer a way to get to know the Tarot and ask questions about the future. However spreads are not only limited to just the future. The past, the real truth regarding a situation and many other elements of ourselves can be found out with the Tarot. As helpful as the spreads can be, there are several important things to remember when using them. One of the things to remember is that the Tarot is only a tool through which we realise our own innate gifts and 'second sight'. The spreads are only a small part of the story. It is also important to remember that the spreads are not 'fixed'. A certain card in a certain position does not definitvely mean one thing or another and it is up to the reader to determine what means what in a spread - not vice versa. There is no limit as to what you can use a Tarot spread for. Most readers invent their own spreads at one time or another and I have included my own invention - the dream interpretation spread - here. If you find that the spreads here on the site don't exactly work for you, take another look at them and then rework them to what you feel is accurate for you. This is all about getting in touch with your own intuition so no one spread is going to mean the same thing for every reader. Take liberties with them where you can and make your own spreads when you need some questions answered. It is probably a better idea however to get to know some of the basic ones first as devising your own spreads is something that is best left for when you are more confident in reading the Tarot. There are some good FAQs on the web for Tarot Spreads and I will include these on my links page however the spreads on this site will usually cover most questions. I hope to expand this section on spreads massively as I know how important they are to the newbie. Stay tuned as I will be sure to put much more on here in the future.
