FILIPINO MARDIS GRAS -ATI ATI HAN THIRD WEEKEND IN JANUARY in KALIBO AKLAN on PANAY ISLAND near Boracay Islands's famous White Beach is one of the BEST PARTIES in the world.
Holy Week - starts on Thursday before Easter. Being the only predominantly Catholic country in Southeast Asia, it is no wonder that Holy Week is celebrated in a big way, with fasting, elaborate processions, and passion plays. It's celebrated almost like Christmas
FLORES DE MAYO - The Flores de Mayo festival, which usually takes place in May, is held to commemorate St Helen's discovery of the Holy Cross in 1324. The celebration of the festival includes a procession of huge floats, which roll through the streets, while men and women frolick about in their Sunday best.
Countless other local festivals and fiestas are held throughout the Philippine Islands. Another nickname as used by the Dept. of Tourism is The FIESTA ISLANDS. "Mabuhay" means "To Life" and is symbolic to Filipino attitudes. Don't worry Be Happy is another way of describing the laid back, relaxed way of life throughout the islands.
