All of our wood dummies come with a limited lifetime guarantee. The woods we use are determined by both performance and environmental conservation. Before wood can be used, it must be transformed from its raw state into "dimensioned" form. This process is known as conversion, and it is necessary to achieve both  longevity and  high performance in the product. We choose to laminate our dummies rather than use raw tree logs to ensure proper conversion.

In addition, we carefully  cut, grade, season and preserve the wood to ensure it is properly converted into this new form.

Wood is usually cut to maximize the number of planks. Cut can also determine how the wood will release and absorb moister and therefore how it shrinks and expands.

Lumber is graded according to its purpose. ). In the case of furniture, the appearance of the wood is more important, while in construction the strength of the wood is more important.

Furthermore, wood must be seasoned to prevent cracking and splitting. Wood is hygroscopic., meaning it will pick up moisture and experience internal movement as it dries.  Kiln drying is a method professionals use to ensure quality. Kilns are sealed and temperature and humidity are monitored as well as duration. Drying too fast can be worse than drying to slow. All of our woods are dried to <6% moisture as is all furniture grade wood. Too much moisture will cause wood to crack in a dry environment such as a home in the winter.

Finally wood must be preserved. This extends the life of wood, giving it a protective shell. Wood can be preserved for outdoor use to slow down weathering and/or to prevent insects and rot. Preservatives can be applied by vacuum/ pressure impregnation, dipping or brushing. All of these things must be done before the craftsman touches the wood.

Once we choose our wood for the project we then laminate it. Proper laminating should increase the strength of the wood. By crossing wood grains and bonding, we  increase a wood's shock value. Some non-woodworkers dismiss this process as "just a bunch of glued wood".

99.9% percent of all practical functioning furniture is joined/laminated in some way, shape, or form. Also, in construction many modern support beams are made of  "micro-lam" for its strength.

While the wood used for the trunks may vary, our dummy arms are made of persimmon or hickory which are both known to have high shock resistance.

Ordering: When a customer places an order we start constructing to their preferences. This process takes up to three weeks with up to an additional week for shipping. We do not sell mass produced dummies unless that is what the customer wants (i.e.. schools, distributors, wholesale).

The wait may be longer but we guarantee your happiness. If you don't like the product send it back pay only for shipping.
