I Hear You Knockin' now playing
Some of the best music around came from the fifties. Of course that's my humble opinion. Maybe it's because I can understand what they are saying. Or maybe it's the beat. Or maybe, and I think I may have hit the nail on the head, it's the simple fact that everytime you hear one of those oldies, you can right away associate a memory with it. Maybe a place where you first heard it. Or perhaps a special girl comes to mind. Something crazy you may have been doing might pop in mind. Whatever it is, I find it wonderful. Like my own personal time machine.
I sometimes wonder:
When the last genuine, greaser passes on to Happy Days on high, will old rock & roll finally die?
When I reach eighty, how ridiculous will I appear to my great-grand children, when I still try to sing along with a very old Buddy Holly CD?
Will my arthritic fingers be able to form a G chourd on my guitar?
Will I finally get to meet Buddy Holly, when I get to Rock & Roll Heaven?
