Sexually transmitted diseases are those that are passed on during sexual intercourse or other intimate contact. Here, for your convenience is a synopsis of the early stages of several diseases in this catagory.
It is vital that a sexually transmitted disease be caught in the early stages so that severe, irreparable damage to the body does not occur. Always check with a medical doctor.
AIDS: (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome): Early symptoms include headache, night sweats, weight loss, fatigue, swollen lymph glands, fever, heavily coated white tongue, diarrhea, and lung infections.
Candidiasis: Early symptoms include itching in the genital area, pain when urinating, and a thick odorless vaginal discharge are frequently present. Candidiasis is unusual in the male and indicates a weakened immune system.
Chlamydia: Often there are no symptoms. Some females experience a white vaginal discharge that resembles cottage cheese, a burning sensation when urinating, itching, and painful intercourse. A clear watery urethral discharge in the male probably is a chlmydia infection.
Genital Herpes: Symptoms include itching, burning in the genital area and discomfort urinating, and a watery vaginal or urethral discharge. A weeping vesicular eruption in the vagina or on the penis is an early sign.
Genital Warts: Single or clusters of soft, cauliflower-like growths in and around the vagina, anus, penis, groin, and scrotal area.
Gonorrhea: Often without symptoms. Females become silent carriers. If there are symptoms in the female, they include frequent and painful urination, cloudy vaginal discharge, vaginal itching, inflammation of the pelvic area, and abnormal uterine bleeding. If the male has a purulent urethral discharge, he should assume he has gonorrhea until proven otherwise.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): A Purulent vaginal discharge with fever and lower abdominal pain.
Syphilis: Symptoms in the early contagious stages are a sore on the genitalia, a rash, patches of flaking tissue, fever, a sore throat, and sores in the mouth or anus.
Trichonomiasis: Vaginal itching and pain, with a watery foamy greenish or yellow odorless discharge, are frequently present. A clear urethral discharge is an early sign in the male.
Cervical Dysplasia: Some doctors are calling Cervical Dysplasia the newest sexually transmitted disease. They believe is is caused by the same virus (papilloma virus) that causes venereal warts. Cervical Dysplasia is the formation of abnormal tissue in the cervix, a precancerous condition of the cervix.
There are several other diseases transmitted by sexual intercourse not mentioned here.
In each of the conditions named above, check with your doctor for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment will prevent irreparable damage to the body.
