Here you wil find all you need to know about Atari Emulators and everything you need to get one running on your computer.
What is an Emulator?
An Emulator is a program which allows you to run your favourite programs on your PC which are incompatible. For example with an Atari emulator you may run Atari programs on your PC!
Why Emulate an Older Slower Computer?
Basically nostalgia. Altough many games/programs on the Atari are much simpler, than PC programs today, they are still fun to use and play.
What do I need to run an Atari Emulator?
To run an Atari emulator:
- First you need the emulator itself, for example PacifiST v0.48:A DOS BASED EMULATOR or WinSTon v0.2:FOR WINDOWS. Both of which are very GOOD!
- Secondly you need a TOS ROM Image. This is what controls the hardware of an Atari and is required by the emulator to give the look and feel of an Atari. Many Versions of the ROM can be downloaded from this page.
- Thirdly you need a program to convert an Atari Disk into an Image on your HardDrive.
