How do I become a member?
There are two different ways to become a member. First and foremost, you can get an application from any member of the squad. Whether you know us personally, find us on the street, or happen to get one from someone at the building (32 Maple Court, located behind the Woodstown Diner), all you have to do is fill out the application and hand it back in. Attached to that is a form for a physical, that also need to be filled out by a doctor. Secondly, you can fill out the application online, on our website (HERE) and get the physical form at a later date. Either way is more than acceptable.

If I were to join, what would be required of me?

Here's where things can get complicated, trying to explain the status of different memberships. So, to keep from boring you, or confusing you, or whatever else may happen, we're flexible. If you want to pull duty from the building, or your house, if you want to pull duty over night, or in the morning, or maybe you don't want to be in the trucks at all, all of this is fine. If you want to help out with building maintenance or inventory, or whatever you want to do, we're looking for you!

But I don't have any training, now what?

That's okay! We have members that are certified CPR instructors. If you've never had CPR, they can teach it. If you've had it and the card's lapsed, they can refresh you. As for anything else, we have classes at our building, and we also do a lot of other training in-house. But for things we don't teach or train, we can just as easily send you out into the world to get whatever training is necessary.

Why does Woodstown keep its fire trucks and ambulances in seperate locations?

Reliance Fire Company (Station 12) and Woodstown Ambulance & Rescue (Squad 12) are actually two distinct organizations. By law, a municipality has to provide a fire company but they do not have to provide an emergency medical service (EMS). That's what we do. In addition to responding to medial emergencies and auto accidents, you will see one or two of our trucks at a fire. We do not fight the fire, we keep the fire fighter fighting.

When I donate to the fire company, how much of that goes to the ambulance squad?

None - but don't stop supporting Reliance. They provide an extremely important role in fire protection. Reliance (Station 12) is under the joint auspices of the Borough of Woodstown and Township of Pilesgrove. Woodstown Ambulance & Rescue (Squad 12) is an independent entity. Our fund drive is in the late spring while Reliance does theirs near the fall. Please continue to support both of these vital volunteer organizations.
