Prince Charles Seen To Be Against War On Iraq... |
Goodman, Clive. “Hold your
peace.” News of the World (UK). (date not on page)
A SERIOUS rift has opened up between Prince Charles and the government
because he is seen to be AGAINST a war on Iraq and AGAINST America.
Whitehall also believes the prince is sympathetic
to the view of his Arab friends that war on Saddam Hussein is a bid by the
US to grab a stake in the Middle East's oil.
Yet despite being colonel-in-chief to 17 regiments,
Charles has shown little public support for the soldiers, airmen and
sailors who are about to risk their lives in a Gulf conflict.
There are also worries that he makes no secret of
his anti-American views in conversations with members of Arab royal
families and their leading officials.
Yet
another reason to ask why we saved Britain from the Nazis. |

BLAIR AND BUSH TO GIVE SADDAM JUST 48 HOURS TO LEAVE IRAQ... |
Coman, Julian and Brown, Colin.
“US and Britain give Saddam just 48 hours to leave Iraq.” The Telegraph
(UK). February 9, 2003. Britain and America are
drawing up plans to give Saddam Hussein as little as 48 hours to flee
Baghdad or face war, if UN weapons inspectors report this week that the
Iraqi dictator is still refusing to disarm fully.
A way to
keep from having a war, but it allows Saddam to escape justice. His
departure could result in: (1) another dictatorship; or (2) chaos. In
either case American military action might be required. |

'Madness of George Dubya' a UK hit... |
“‘Madness of George Dubya’ a UK
hit.” CNN.com Entertainment. February 5, 2003.
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- British theatre-goers are flocking to a new
farce which mocks U.S. President George W. Bush as a pyjama-wearing
buffoon cuddling a teddy-bear while his crazed military chiefs order
nuclear strikes on Iraq.
“The Madness of George Dubya” -- which mercilessly
satirises British Prime Minister Tony Blair as well as Bush -- has proved
such a success at a fringe theatre in London that it is moving to a larger
venue next week for an extended run.
“As war comes closer, the mood among audiences has
changed,” actor Nicholas Burns, who plays Blair, said after a performance
this week. “The audience is actually laughing more, but the tension behind
their laughs has grown. People are scared.”
Again,
just why was it that we saved Britain from the Nazis? The forbearers of
the frightened audiences went through the Blitz; these people are
frightened of a war thousands of miles away. This obviously isn’t their
finest hour. |

“School
Colors: Is America resegregating? Don't you believe it.” The Wall
Street Journal. |
A
recent study by the Civil Rights Project, a liberal outfit housed at
Harvard, uses the racial composition of inner-city schools to allege that
the U.S. is undergoing resegregation. Our reading is that the findings say
much more about the state of inner-city public education.
For starters, the U.S. is less segregated today
than ever before. A Brookings Institution paper--"Racial Segregation in
the 2000 Census: Promising News"--has the details. Segregation levels are
"at their lowest point since roughly 1920," say the authors. "The 2000
Census documents that, for the third straight decade, segregation between
blacks and nonblacks across American metropolitan areas has declined
dramatically."
During the past 20 years black incomes have risen
(most blacks are not poor) and high school graduation rates have improved.
Better education has led to better jobs, which have led in turn to more
integrated suburbs, particularly in the fast-growing South and West.
Pockets of segregation persist in some of the
nation's largest cities, and this is reflected in their public schools.
But when we talk about the causes of segregation these days, we're talking
about something very different from the past. There was a time when the
racial makeup of neighborhoods and schools was mandated by law, and the
minorites relegated to those enclaves had nowhere else to go, regardless
of their socioeconomic standing. Today that's no longer the case. Black
"flight" from urban areas is common, and the reason many are fleeing is
the schools. |

Darwish, Nonie. “CAIR
Should Put America First.” FrontPageMagazine.com. February 7, 2003. |
The Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
is attacking Daniel Pipes for his latest article in which he called for
pragmatism in dealing with Muslims and mosques. They accused him of
inciting anti-Moslem sentiment. I disagree with CAIR.
This is one US citizen of Arab/Moslem background who has no problem being
profiled until the US conquers the war on terrorism. I trust the US and
its constitution will be fair and just to Arab Americans, who should not
feel threatened if they have nothing to hide. It is my duty as an American
to do everything I can to combat terror and never ever see a repeat of
9/11. |

Elder, Joshua. “The
Flaws and Hypocrisies of Identity Politics.” February 7, 2003.
Socialism is based on collectivism; this is why socialist regimes
persecute the individual. This was true in Nazi Germany as well as the
Communist states. America is based on individualism. |
As the letter demonstrated, the Left tends
to view things in very deterministic terms. Where you come from determines
where you’re going and what you are (race, religion, socio-economic
status) determines who you are. This group determinism is the well
from which the Left’s two favorite ideologies, socialism and
multiculturalism, both spring.
For the Left, the group always comes before the
individual. Independent thought is, well, unthinkable. For evidence of
this, look no further than how prominent members of the so-called “black
community” describe men like Ward Connerly and Colin Powell as “Uncle
Toms” and “house slaves” for their embrace of the conservative agenda.
Liberals demonize mavericks like Connerly or Andrew Sullivan because their
very existence undermines the ideology of group determinism. If
individuals can step outside the box that has been created for them, then
identity politics has no meaning. The very foundations of modern
liberalism would crumble. |

“Some
cosmetic surgery unethical.” UPI. (no date given)
And he started out as a perfectly good black guy |
(UPI) -- Michael Jackson's damaged nose
from alleged repeated plastic surgery -- the subject of several recent TV
reports -- raises questions about the ethics of doing facelifts, breast
augmentations and other cosmetic surgery that has no medical benefit,
experts have told United Press International.
Jackson's disfigured face was revealed last year when he removed the
surgical mask he routinely wears while testifying in a court case in Santa
Maria, Calif. The tip of his nose was scarred and discolored and skin
tissue appeared to be dangling from it. Jackson has admitted having
nostril reconstruction but has denied having any other facial surgery.
“It appears to me that he's had numerous surgeries
on his nose and it appears he's had something to widen his chin,” perhaps
a chin implant, said Thomas Loeb, a plastic surgeon in New York City who
has done facial reconstructive surgery on celebrities, including Paula
Jones' nose. |
