Born in the Mississippi delta in Grenada, Sam Maghett moved to Chicago during his teens. He began recording in 1957, and many consider him the best of the young West Side bluesmen. Unfortunately, he dropped dead of a heart attack at the age of 32, not long after recording some well received albums and just hitting the brink of stardom.
