History
It began when man started to use simple computation. The first tool for
computing that man invented was dated 500 B.C. called Abacus which is
originated in Egypt. It consists of beads supported by several parallel
wires attached to a rectangular frame.
In 1622, William Oughtred English mathematician invented a slide rule,
a mechanical device which becomes basic tool for scientist and engineering.
In 1642 Blaise Pascal (1623-1662), French philosopher and mathematician,
completed the first successful mechanical calculator called Pascaline.
In
1671, Leibniz
(1646-1716), German philosopher and mathematician constructed a calculating
machine.
In nineteenth century, a mathematician, scientist, teacher, and
inventor named Charles Babbage, the father of modern computer, constructed
an early computer like device called Difference engine which is
capable of solving mathematical problems. And his famous enhanced version of
different engine called Analytical engine.
