In fact Amsterdam is
not so big, only some 800,000 inhabitants buft most of
them originate from a lot of other countries. there are
the people of Indonesia and Surinam (the former Dutch
colonies) adn from the Netherlands Antilles. There are
lot of immigrants from Algeria, Morocco and Turckey, who
immigrated round the 70s and Holland ( the other name
of the Netherlands) since the 90s has a lot of refugees,
most of them were naturalized recently. that makes Holland
and Amsterdam so multi-cultural. All those peoplelive
very closely to each other in this small country. This
aslo urges it inhabitants to be rather flexifble.

Amsterdam is the centre of the
world, and HES almost is in the centre of Amsterdam, so
i am in the centre of the world right now. So here is ,
where it's all happening.
I am present studing in the International Financial
Management (IFM) which is the equivalent of the Dutch
"Bedrijfseconomie", of HES Amsterdam School
of Business. it's a four-year programme on the level of
Bachelor of Honours Degree, in which all lectures are
taught in English, and designed to meet the high Dutch
standard in Higher Professional Education (HBO). The HES
Amsterdam is accredited by the HBO Council and the Minister
of Education of the Netherlands, and is also recognised
by a wide variety of international partners.

The main objective of the IFAS
department is to prepare students for an international business
career in middle and higher managerial positions.
The network of partner institutions of the HES Amsterdam
School of Business has grown gradually over the last 10
years from 2 schools in the United Kingdom and Germany
to more than 60 institutions all over the world. Over
the past years this network has mainly accommodated students
from the IBMS, IFM and IBL departments who must do part
of their studies abroad in order to obtain the BA degree.
Students from these departments, in particular IFM, are
advised to focus their attention on the more specific
departmental partner institutions (programme related),
but are certainly welcome to opt for other institutions
as well. Students from other departments are also allowed
to enter the exchange programmes, but their choices are
limited, since the students who follow a study programme
that has an exchange obligation go first.
