A Little Bit of God

“Lord! What am I going to do!? This is going to be more difficult then I had expected.” Katelyn prayed the next night as she waited for AJ to pick her up for their date.

She didn’t have time to wait for an answer, because the door bell rang. Slowly she ambled towards the front door. Just before she opened the door, she checked in the side windows.

“I can do this! I know I can! Lord, hep me! Stay with me tonight! I need you.”

The door bell ran again.

“Hey, AJ!” Katelyn greeted.

“Hey babe. Have you picked out where we’re going tonight?”

“Yupe. Carmen has a concert tonight. I can buy tickets at the door. He’s really good!” She smiled stepping out the door and then locking it. “I thought you might enjoy watching a concert. I haven’t been to one in ages. Not too many Christian concerts come this way. I don’t keep up with any other music.”

AJ breathed a small sigh of relief, knowing she still didn’t know who he was. This would give him a chance to start a normal relationship. That was always a rare chance to come by. But something told him this girl would not be easy to catch. She had a strength about her he hadn’t seen on anyone else.

AJ pulled Katelyn by the hand, through the crowd towards their seats. This was the same arena him and the guys had performed in a while ago. It was strange being in the audience instead of entertaining the audience. The urge to just run up on stage would be hard to control.

Their seats were within the first ten rows and dead center.

“So, how many concerts have you been to?” Katelyn asked as she sat down.

“Good many. None recently.” AJ hurriedly replied. The music world was one of the last things he wanted to talk about.

A good conversation slowly unraveled itself as the concert drew nearer. AJ glanced around nervously, hoping Katelyn wouldn’t notice how anxious he was. Je really wasn’t ready for Katelyn to know his true identity.

“Well, I really enjoyed tonight. Thanks for coming with me.” Katelyn smiled as AJ walked her to the door late that night.

“Anytime.” AJ replied.

A silence followed the neither knew exactly how to break. Katelyn cleared her throat subconsciencly.

“Well, I would say we could try and do something soon, but business will be taking me away from here. But I still want to keep in touch.” AJ explained.

“Okay, besides college I’m free most anytime.” She was surprised he wanted to see her again.

“I’m going to go.” AJ started to lean forward for a quick kiss.

“I think my sister is calling me!” Katelyn quickly mumbled leaving AJ standing on the front porch, embarrassed.

Confused by the sudden reaction, AJ gathered what was left of his dignity to leave. Did that mean she wanted to see him again or not? Whatever it was that she had about her, that difference had him coming back for more. Hook, line and sinker and she didn’t even know it.
