"Black-Dove January"
Chapter 3

Brian couldn't believe what Kevin had said. What the hell was he
thinking taking this girl home? They didn't know where she had been, what
she had done, where she was from. This wasn't like Kevin at all. He was normally
the sane rational one. And now he was taking some supposedly homeless girl
back to their place. What would the rest of the guys say? What would Johnny
and Donna say?
Kevin didn't know what the hell he was thinking. (LOL) He just knew
that he really wanted to help this girl. Something about her intriguied him.
Maybe it was her startlingly green eyes, or the way she acted so tough but
Kevin could see inside she was scared. Whatever it was, he was getting her
help, no matter what or how much she protested. And the rest of the guys
would just have to deal. And it was the Backstreet Boys' time off so what would
Johnny and Donna care? As long as no one found out the circumstances. And
this was basically what Kevin and Brian whispered about all the way home.
Raegan wanted to run, but Kevin had a firm grip on her. What had
she gotten herself into? So many thoughts rushed into her head. She was so
confused about what to do. And every time she looked at Kevin or Brian they
would be heavily engaged in whispered conversation. She didn't doubt that
they were arguing over this very situation. "You know, if you would just let me
go you guys wouldn't have to argue over this", she spoke up. "Who says we're
arguing?", Brian asked. "I'm not deaf. It's obvious you disagree. Tell me
exactly WHY you're bringing me home again?" "Because", Kevin answered. Truth
was he didn't really know himself. "Because isn't a reason", she told him.
"It's a reason. Just not a very good one", Brian said, glaring at Kevin once
again. Kevin returned the glare and that was Brian's clue to shut up.
When they got to the house Brian and Kevin shared, Raegan
couldn't help but be amazed. It was VERY nice. A 2-story, large, brick house
with dark blue shutters, lots of windows, and palm trees planted around the
yard. A black jeep Cheroke ,a green Toyota Fore-runner, and a blue Corvette
were parked in the open 3-car garage. "You guys live here?", Raegan asked.
"Yep. Me, Brian, and another guy named Nick", Kevin replied. "Speaking of
Nick, he's obviously home. You wouldn't want to RETHINK something, would ya
Kev?", Brian asked, referring to Raegan. "There's nothing to rethink. Let's
go inside", Kevin told him.
When Nick heard the door slam, he dashed to the kitchen, about to
tell Brian and Kevin about the guys coming over. He stopped when he saw the
guys with a girl. She looked a little young for either Kevin or Brian. "Hey,
who's the girl?", he asked, coming into the kitchen. "This is Marie", Brian
told Nick. "And Marie, this is Nick." "What's she doing here?", Nick asked.
"Ask Kevin."  Kevin opened his mouth, preparing himself for Nick's bitching
after he told him. "Marie is going to be staying with us for a little while,
Nick", Kevin said. "Why?"  "It won't get you anywhere asking that. I don't
think he knows himself", Raegan answered for him. Nick looked at her,
confused. "What does she mean?", he asked. "She means Kevin's not in his
right mind. He doesn't even know the girl and picked her up off the streets",
Brian blurted, angry at Kevin for being so stupid to do something like this.
"WHAT?!?", Nick asked, stunned. "Kev, tell me I heard wrong." Kevin shook
his head. "You heard right." "What the fuck are you thinking?" "We'll talk about
this in a few minutes", Kevin said, taking Raegan and leading her into a
room. Kevin led her to his room. "What the fuck ARE you
thinking?" Raegan asked. "How old are you?" "50." "That's odd. You don't look a day
over 18. Is that how old you are? 18?", Kevin asked. "No. I'm 17." "17 huh? What
is a 17 year old doing on the streets?" "Doing my best to stay away from weird
men who don't even know me that want to take me home but lately that hasn't
