This guide is only based on the years that featured Tom Baker (1974-81) as the Doctor. Baker was the fourth actor to play the Doctor and held the role for longer than any of his colleagues. He played the Doctor with humour and a childish exuberance without detracting from the Doctor's intelligence. He is by far my favourite Doctor.

Robot
The injured Doctor re-generates into Tom Baker's first appearance. Still recovering, the Doctor investigates when plans for a top secret disintegrator gun are stolen from the British military.

The Ark in Space
The Doctor and his companions land on a dormant space station known as the Ark. The last of the human race is in hibernation but something is sabotaging ship systems - and there is a large, 6 foot insect in the closet.

The Sontaran Experiment
The Doctor and his companions beam down to a deserted Earth. Unfortunately, it is not as deserted as it seems and soon they are dealing with a mysterious robot, a group of paranoid soldiers and 'the thing in the rocks'.

The Genesis of the Daleks
The High Council of the Time Lords dispatch the unwilling Doctor to the Dalek's home planet. His mission is to either prevent their creation, alter their development or discover a vital weakness. Unfortunately, the Time Lords have sent him and his companions not only into the middle of a war zone but into a mine field.

Revenge of the Cybermen
The Doctor and his companions return to the Ark - thousands of years before they left. At this point in time, the space station is being used as a beacon to warn approaching ships of the asteroid which has become Jupiter's newest moon. However, a mysterious plague has stuck the crew and one of the Doctor's oldest enemies is responsible.

The Next Season
