RACE DIRECTOR & FOUNDER: JB Jaso
This is JB's third year as the Race Director of this race. He is currently enrolled as a Freshman at The University of Arizona, and is a member of the UA Triathlon Team. Who knows, he may start Long Beach's first Triathlon... If you have any questions regarding the race, please e-mail JB.
ASSISTANT RACE DIRECTOR: Mark Hannaford
This is Mark's second year on the race committee. Mark was the Expo Director last year, responsible for organizing the expo booths, and stage. This year, the Board of Director's elected him as one of the two Assistant Race Directors. Mark is at the tender age of 16, and is a Junior at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he is a member of the Yearbook Staff. You may e-mail Mark if you have any questions.
ASSISTANT RACE DIRECTOR: Tyler Noesen
This is Tyler's third year on the committee. He was the Course Director the first year, and then was elected as Assistant Race Director for the '97 race, and also this year's event. Tyler is a Junior at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where is a member of the 1996 & 1997 CIF Championship Cross-Country team & 1997 State Champions. KIDS RUN RACE DIRECTOR: Pamela Borcich
This is Pam's third year as the Kids Fun Race Director. Not only has she brought an excellent running background to the committee, but her spirit and enthusisiam has helped. Every year, hundreds of kids look forward to the Kids Run, and it would not be possible without Pam. You may e-mail Pam if you have any questions regarding the Kids Fun Run.
SECRETARY: Mary Coburn
This is Mary's third year on the committee, and first as the Secretary. She has brought to the race many new ideas, and many organizational skills. This race would not be possible year-after-year without her.
TREASURER: Walt Coburn
This is Walt's first year on the committee, but has been instrumental to the race since the first year, volunteering all his time to the race the day before, and on race day to help make it successful. The committee had asked him to join the Board of Directors as our new Treasurer. He gladly accepted, and now is instrumental in the planning process. VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR: Matt Sonntag
This is Matt's third year on the committee. He has been the Volunteer Director since the first race, and has improved to one of the most experienced directors on this year's board. He is attending Long Beach City College. You may e-mail Matt if you have any questions or would like to Volunteer for the race.
MARKETING DIRECTOR: Eric Hearn
This is Eric's second year as the Marketing Director for the race. Eric is also an Executive Director for the Boy Scouts of American, Long Beach Area Council. Eric has the experience needed to be the Marketing Director that this race really needs.
COURSE DIRECTOR:Greg Haglind
This is Greg's second year as the Course Director. He is a Sophomore at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, and is a member of Poly's Cross-Country and Track teams. Greg's experiences are helping to improve the course, and this year's runners should look forward to new improvements with the course under Greg's direction. OPERATIONS DIRECTOR: Thurman Ashley
This is Thurman's first year on the committee. He knows how the race works, since he has been a runner in the 10k since the first year of this race. Thurman has great knowledge of road runs, and is very organized and responsible to hold this position. Thurman is attending Long Beach City College, while working with the committee. RACE DIRECTOR'S LIAISON: John Jaso
John is JB's Father, who is communticating with JB on a frequent basis to inform both the committee and JB what is going on with the race. John was responsible for the volunteer area last year, and will once again this year. Last year, John was responsible for getting the volunteers lots of food, and coffee, and we look forward to this again this year.
