July 27, 1997

Streetcar operation on Spadina Avenue resumes after an absence of almost 50 years, replacing the 77 SPADINA bus and the 510 HARBOURFRONT streetcar routes. Cars operate from the new underground loop at Spadina Station via Spadina, Queens Quay and Bay to Union Station. Short turn service is operated between Spadina Station and the Queens Quay/Spadina loop.

Up to seven ALRVs replace CLRVs on the King short turn branch, Monday through Saturday, but no change made in the scheduled headways. This short test of the high capacity cars was made possible due to a track replacement project on Queen Street east, where ALRVs were replaced by buses. A permanent change made effective July 26 was the introduction of a full time "loader" to speed up boarding northbound at Dundas, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., seven days a week.

September 5, 1999

Seasonal change: less frequent service to Harbourfront on Sundays, and short turn service resumed.
