The Beginning
The first time Alvin and Brittany met, you couldn't exactly say it was love at first sight. In fact, they didn't really like each other. The Chipettes, at the time, had just arrived from Australia after escaping a horrible orphanage. And while pursuing their dreams of being singers in America they adopted the name The Chipmunks for their group. Of course, at that time, they had never heard of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore-- so they had no way of knowing that the name was already taken.
Despite this, they actually managed to book their very first gig at a nice Hotel, with their name The Chipmunks advertised on the Billboard outside.
The Real Chipmunks, meanwhile, were on Tour, and just happened to pass the sign outside the Hotel announcing The Chipmunks concert. Even though Dave can't remember booking it, he figures he must have since they're the only group called The Chipmunks. Once they arrive inside the hotel, however, the man at the counter looks confused, but gives them the keys to their own hotel room anyway. But when they enter the room, they are surprised to see three female chipmunks are already there!
This of course launches the battle over who has the right to The Chipmunks name.
The chosen battle? A singing contest of course!
After many schemes and pranks, the Chipettes eventually win-- but only because both sides cheated, and the girls prank worked better than the boys. Once on stage however, the audience, expecting to see Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, start booing the girls, complaining that they're not The Chipmunks. The boys, of course, come to their rescue, explaining to the angry crowd that these girls are their friends, The Chipettes. Alvin comes up with the name at the spur of the moment, and the girls gratefully adopt it.
Together, they sing... and thus begins their often rocky (but adorable) relationship. ^_^
The Aftermath
Here is a
question that appeared in my Guestbook about Alvin and Brittany: I just decided
to post these, since I don't have the time nor desire to go through A & B's
entire history. But, at least my response to their question points to a few of
the episodes and songs which show that their relationship wasn't something I
made up in my head:

Isn't it amazing that I actually got around to making the Shrine?! Well, I think it is. =P
