It was a day like any other except, of course, the Spice Girls were in town.
As anyone can tell you, I am the biggest Spice Girl fan. I think there's something to this Girl Power philosophy. An essence that we should all embrace and, for anyone who knows me, I'm into embracing.
Anyways, my friend (who shall remain nameless Aaron Holbrook) and I decided to leave work early and head down to the Chinese Mann Theatre where the Spice Girls were celebrating their American premiere of Spice World. (You must see this movie. It's the only movie that can possibly topple Titanic.)
We stood in line for 3 hours. We got to converse with fellow Spice fans. It's hard to believe the somethings as special as this can join people (mostly women) of all colors (mostly white) and age (mostly teenage) together in a bond of unity.
It was 4:00 pm and we were next in line. I scramble to think of what I was going to say to these fabulous women. I didn't have to say anything. They knew what Girl Power meant to me. They simply asked me to tell them what I wanted. What I really, really wanted. I told them I wanted a picture with them and they said "yes."
Aaron and I got into the pose. The girls came around and we said "Cheese." Afterward I hugged Baby Spice and Scary Spice immediately pinched my butt.
It's a day I'll never forget for as long as I live.
