Full Time Internships | Part Time Volunteer | Actor Internships | Important Information for Applicants
FULL TIME PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: Like the part-time P.A., this is an entry level position where you'll have the chance to work with all departments, and within one month, you may request a specific area to work in. This is a great placement to find out about the entire process.
PRODUCER PROGRAM: (entry level) This will breakdown various levels of producing a late night talk show, and may delve into motion picture production. The emphasis will be on financing, packaging, hiring, creative, and taking the show from conception to a live audience. You'll have a chance to produce some on-location shoots, as well as live segments.
DIRECTOR PROGRAM: Applicants will learn how to direct interviews, sketches, and talent on-camera. Training will include some theory, dealing with talent, script evaluation, and most of the creative elements involved in the Producer Program. This is an entry level position, as well as a great refresher for professionals.
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ADVERTISING: Includes a breakdown on writing media releases, networking, and putting together a press campaign. Once training is complete you will be dealing with television, radio, and newspaper writers at all levels.
WRITING DEPARTMENT: A valuable program that will teach you to position and develop scripts for television and film. You will be able to create concepts, then write, format, and edit your own script in this program. You'll also see how film scripts, monologues, sketches, and location pieces are developed. As you'll be writing, some of your ideas may be produced and showcased on the show. Some duties of this job will include evaluating material sent to us by freelance writers, editing scripts, formatting, and assisting in location scouting.
MULTI-MEDIA: Applicants will be working in our Multi-media department with our public, company, training, and corporate web sites, responding to email, online advertising, and some editing of taped segments. Training will include some HTML, designing, layout, and will let you create your own fully functional web site from conception to debut.
TALENT AND CASTING: Duties following training will include interviewing talent, auditioning, callbacks, and on-location scouting. Some other duties will include watching audition tapes of actors, musicians, models, dancers, comedy and variety acts, and doing evaluations before, during, and after auditions or scouting.
LEAD ACTOR PROGRAM: Beyond the standard breathing, diction, and motivation overview, you will have done the following when your training is completed: performed a "Real Life" situation in front of a live theatre audience, spoken on live radio as a character, learned techniques for memorizing an entire script overnight, and prepared an effective audition tape. One successful applicant will have a script written for them which will be produced and performed in front of a live audience. The applicant that is accepted will appear in a show.
CO-HOST PROGRAM: Will include the training program detailed in the Lead Actor program, however, the successful applicant will have an opportunity to co-host a show with Danny Gayle.
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: With a minimum committment of five hours per week, this provides a chance to work in many departments, and within one month, the applicant may apply for full-time status.
DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT: Working with the director of the show, the A.D. requires a minimum committment of ten hours per week.
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT Work with the publicity department. Minimum committment of ten hours per week.
FREELANCE WRITER: Applicant may submit material for consideration. If accepted as a regular contributing writer, you will be given the unlisted fax number to submit your material on a weekly basis, and credit for all material used on the show. MULTI-MEDIA: Working with our web design team and general web maintenance. Minimum committment of five hours per week.
SECURITY: Will work at shows and on-location shoots. Some training will be provided, which may include executive protection security. Committment varies.
SALES: Live shows, appearances, and programs. An excellent training program teaching how a show can be packaged and sold to networks, corporations, and the public.
WARDROBE DEPARTMENT: Working with the host and/or cast to coordinate outfits, maintenance, and some opportunity for design. may include some makeup and hair evaluation for those with additional experience. Committment varies.
USHERS, BOX OFFICE, AND GENERAL HELP: On a per show basis.
1) All interviews, testing, training, work, and related duties will take place in Toronto, Canada.
2) During the internship period, all applicants will be responsible for their lodgings, food, and other expenses.
3) All training programs are provided for free in return for the applicants' involvement in the production of the show. Some of the training programs are exclusive only to the applicant. Some may be available to the general public. Any non-applicant who pays for training will not be entitled to work on the show, but may apply to work full-time at a later date. Most training takes two to three weeks.
4) The committment required for a full-time position is three months, five hours a day, Monday to Friday. For most positions, flexible hours are offered.
