Hi, my name is Jason and this is my first attempt at a homepage. Feel free to write and let me know how you think I could improve it if you have any ideas. It's a pet project so I'll try to keep improving it.

First, allow me to introduce myself. At the moment, I am a student at The University of Califonia at Irvine, where I am majoring in English and minoring in comparative literature. I plan to graduate in June, 1999 and my ambition is to be a WORLD FAMOUS novelist and/or TV/film scriptwriter. Right now, I'm busy just trying to get some of my short fiction published. Being the practical guy that I am, I have back up plans as well. One of those is to go into journalism. I recently worked on a local college paper, the Saddleback College Lariat and had a very good experince with that, so I think journalism might be a possibility. Then again, I might just pursue my childhood ambition to write comic books too. Silly as it might sound, I think it would be a blast.

Although my writing encompasses several genres of fiction, I have always been really big on science fiction. Star Wars was huge when I was growing up and I always wanted to be Luke Skywalker when I was a kid. Don't forget, the new movie is coming out memorial day weekend, 1999. After watching the movie, Apollo 13, I was really inspired to become a real life skywalker and was even planning on majoring in math as the first step to making that dream come true. Unfortunately, despite my success in math during high school, I got my head handed to me in pre-calculus and decided to stay with my strong suit, which was English. Many of my professors have complmented me on my writing and it seems only natural to me that I should be a writer. Especially since I am a quiet guy and writing is such a wonderful means of expressing myself.

Interests and Activities

Are you bored out of your mind yet? OK, well maybe you share some of my interests. I certainly have many. For one thing I love the outdoors. I love to go hiking, camping, sailing, water skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, body boarding and even surfing (though I still pretty much suck at it). I have also been skiing for almost as long as I have been able to stand. I have been involved with many team sports such as track, tennis, baseball, and basketball and I still love to practice and compete in a variety of martial arts. Martail Arts/Combative Sports

I am a black belt in Shotokan Karate with about 9 years of experience. I occasioanlly still volunteer as an assistant instructor at the Orange County JKA in Lake Forest (a terrific dojo, run by people who do it for the love of the art). I am also a former high school wrestler with experience in Judo (5 months), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Shootfighting (3 months), Aikido (5 months) and Iaido (1 year). Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with some great martial artists and I would like to thank all my past instructors, training partners and students.
