Insect Surfers have been placing lava lamps on the backs of their amplifiers since their Los Angeles reincarnation in June 1986. After pointing out to the Lava Lite company that the Insect Surfers featured a Lava Lamp on their Reverb Sun CD/LP, the band managed to secure a sponsorship from them. This resulted in the delightful situation of having many free Lava Lamps for many years. But alas, the company grew more corporate and does not grant free Lava Lamps anymore. However, they still offer their fine product at a discount rate and the most recent acquisitions were two of the three foot tall Titan models. Visually they kick ass, but they take a grueling three hours to warm up! Meanwhile the "regulation issue" Lava Lamps can often be spotted in various Insect Surfer photos ...
