Lucia floated in the surrounding darkness. She had no idea where she was. Then she recalled what had happened. “Am I….dead?” she wondered. She sighed. The darknesss about her was so comforting, so calm and peaceful. She wanted to stay here forever, away from the pains of the world….
“LUCIA! Don’t give in! The world needs you!”
Lucia heard a familiar voice cry to her,and spun around. Before her floated Zangulus’ spirit. She raced to it.
“Zangulus! What is this?”
“Lucia, I don’t think we’re dead. It’s like we’re in some kind of… limbo. You and I must try to will ourselves awake so we can finish Darius off!”
“But…this darkness, it’s so peaceful! Forget it all! Just let yourself go. Succumb to it!”
“Lucia! I can’t believe what I’m hearing! You can’t give up! You’ve got to awaken! We must destroy Darius’ evil!”
“Yes, but…”
“Don’t you want to avenge your family? Avenge the innocent…?”
“Well, I…”
“Lucia,” Zangulus took her into his arms, “You must try, because we both have to live for a very important thing…we must live…so we can be married!”
“Oh, Zangulus! I’ll do it. I’ll try my best for you, My Love. For the world…!” She threw her arms around him and they kissed. Flashes of light shone all around them, and then…..
Lucia saw Darius towering over her, glowing with violet light, and cackling evily. He had gone beyond his normal limit for power. She had to destroy him. Yet he was so powerful…she knew what she had to do. She had to use her most powerful spell of, her “Drive Spell”…even if it cost her life…!
“Darius!” She cried. The evil man turned and glared at her. “I thought I killed you, little, insect!”
“Silence!” she demanded. She began to levitate, and glow white light. “You have harmed enough as it is. I cannot allow you to continue. Say farewell, “Lord” Darius!” She closed her eyes and lifted her arms above her head. With a deep breath, she began to chant the spell:
“Lost souls, wandering against the Gods’ light,”
This is for my family, whom you unjustly killed.
“If you wish to release your powers, follow me,”
This is for all the innocent people, whom you murdered
“Rend assunder the evil spirit,”
This is for my love, whose life you ruined!
“Guide me to the land of shinning light!”
This is for the future and salvation of the world!
“THUNDER GLACIER DRIVE!”
A ball of light formed in Lucia’s hand. It began to grow, and then flew at Darius. He sneered. “Is that all you have?!” But then the light grew brighter and the ball larger, larger, till it consumed all of Darius’ form. There was a dramatic pause before Darius let out an agonizing scream, and he, along with his whole camp of soldiers exploded into dust…!
The light dimmed, and Zangulus opened his eyes. He looked around himself and then gasped as he saw Lucia lying limp on the ground. He raced to her and held her in his arms. She smiled weakly. “Zang….we did it. Darius is no more…! He’s gone! The world is safe…!
“But, my darling Lucia, your life energy! You could die!”
“No,” Lucia smiled. “I won’t die. I used a lot of my lifeforce, but not enough to kill myself. I just need to rest for e few days, and I’ll be fine.” She gently brushed some of Zangulus’ black, wavy hair from his face. “You did it. I did it. We did it, my love!”
Zangulus smiled and kissed her. “You did well, My Love. Now, let’s rest here until you are able to move, and I’ll take us to an inn in Zelphielia.”
She smiled. “Sounds like a plan! “ She closed her eyes and fell asleep, while Zangulus watched over her protectively, until at last, he too, entered the land of dreams….
