August 7, 2000 - Monday
After I posted last night's entry, I tried to stop the tape in the VCR. It got stuck.
I couldn't get it out, so I tried to push it back in. It stuck there too! I unplugged
the darn thing and went to bed.
This morning I got up around 11 and got ready to go out. I walked to the train station,
stopping at a bakery on the way. I bought a piece of mushroom quiche and a poppy
seed loaf. I ate them on the train. They were delicious.
The train ride was uneventful and I met Pamella at the station. We decided to go
for lunch right away. We went to a wonderful Indian restaurant for curry. It was
great. The nan was terrific, and so was the tea afterwards.
Then we went shopping. First up we hit Kinokuniya Books, then Tower Records. I didn't
buy anything at Tower 'cause I was saving myself (so to speak) for the Virgin Megastore.
Sadly it was closed. After that we hit a few other stores, including Maruzen Books and Tokyu Hands. We went to Doutors for coffee and chat in the middle of the
day, and after more shopping decided to go for supper too.
We went to Royal Host, and had supper, lots of water and more chat. We had lots of
things to talk about. After we finished, we went our separate ways. I caught the
train back to Otaru and got off at my stop, one removed from Otaru. I trudged up
the hill and into my hot and stuffy apartment. I opened the window, turned on the fan and
it soon became bearable.
Then I decided to perform surgery on my VCR. I couldn't get the tape to budge, so
I plugged in the machine and it half ejected. I unplugged it and then managed to
dislodge the tape with the help of a chopstick that was in reach. I don't think
I'll try to put another tape in it for a while. Sigh.
Anyway, I'll have a few things to read for a while, I got the new British Cosmo, a
movie mag, an Anne Rice novel and some other things that will keep me busy for.
I guess I won't need to watch movies for a bit? It's sad because someone loaned
me a video that I really wanted to see, but I daren't put it in my VCR now.
I watched ER tonight and it was a good one. Dr Benton in the deep south. His character
is growing on me. I didn't like him before, but lately I do.
Anyway, I'm off. I had a great day today...shopping, girl talk, I enjoyed myself.
Wish all my weekends were like that. Bye.
