May 27, 2000 - Saturday

Thank goodness it's Saturday! It seems like it has been a long week. I worked in my apartment all last weekend, then this week I was really busy at work.

I was semi busy at work today. I had lots of things to do today. I had 6 lessons, plus I had to plan a new lesson for one of Tuesdays classes. I did a bit of counselling too.

The big news and it is big news is that I finally have a firm date for moving. I'll be leaving Tsuruoka on June 10. I won't have internet access for a few days beforehand though.

I'm living out of suitcases now and I hate it.

I got a goodbye present today...2 cds from one of Hitomi's students. It was so nice. I'm looking forward to listening to them.

My goodbye party is tomorrow. It's going to be interesting! I'm hoping we'll go to karaoke after lunch. Then, I hope some of us adults will go out after that. I'm really hoping we will.

I got out of the office reasonably early tonight. It was just a bit after 10. Hurray.

It was Cosmo day today. Double Hurray! Since all my books are packed and I threw out all my old Cosmo's I was facing a serious reading crisis. I guess I could teach myself Japanese and read labels, but that might take more effort than I'm interested in giving.

I'm watching "Countdown TV" and the band Luna Sea is on. Usually I like them but Ryuichi is wearing a really lame red leather ? snake skin? outfit and he looks terrible. And what's with the "Matrix" shades?

Hey, I had a decent day at work today. Nobody cried today. Well, I almost did. One of my best students missed his lesson today and came by the school to apologize. Sadly, he can't come to my party nor the lesson next week so I'll likely never see him again. Okay, that did it. I'm crying now.

Goodbyes are so hard. I've had so many in my life. Usually it's the other people that say goodbye to me, but this time I'm doing the leaving. Part of me is excited to be moving on, but another part is sad to be leaving the wonderful people in Tsuruoka.

And, on that sad and slightly philosophical note, I'm going to bed.
