High School and Middle School Assembly topics

"The Funny World of Friendship!"

A HILARIOUS view of friendship and growing up together. Pat highlights everything young people do with their friends including, "Dumb Things Friends Do!", "What Girls REALLY do at sleepovers!", "Marco Polo and other growing up games!", "Surviving the Mall!" and "Things Guys do when they hang out together!" Very funny assembly with a challenge at the end to be an individual who does not give in to unhealthy peer pressure!

"Things Guaranteed to Drive you CRAZY in School!"

A fun assembly with Pat bringing humor from waking up in the morning to the mirror in the bathroom to strange things parents do to classroom frustrations to the psychotic gym class to the different ways guys and girls act at school! Great for reward assemblies or end of the semester!

"Make a Decision....Or someone will make it for You!"

Choices make or break our future.  If we do not make them based upon individual courage or with our personal goals in mind, we will forfeit our right to make our own destiny.  Throw in some of Pat's stand up comedy and you have an entertaining assembly!

"Respect Yourself and Others Will Follow!"

Pat covers three areas of respect that build dignity in a high school student's life.  Respect for oneself, respect for others, including teachers,  and respect for one's potential. Pat can add respect for cultural diversity as well.  An important message!

"There is More to Life than Cafeteria Fool!"

A young person has so much potential, often unrealized.  Pat uses stand up comedy to spice the fact that high school students need to start NOW to build a foundation for their future.  He emphasizes self-respect, building a plan, discovering one's talent and being an original person

"The Character You Save may be your Own!"

A person's success may be measured by financial gain or fame; but a person's real value is determined by honesty, respect for others and taking personal responsibility for his actions.

"Standing in the GAP!"

Pat's most popular new message!  He uses humor to point out the five most important issues facing young people in the 21st Century and how to combat them.  Those issues are:  Complacency, A Lack of Ethics, Isolationism, Violence and a Societal Self-Centeredness.  Powerful, sobering and extremely well-received by students hungry to make a difference both personally and professionally!

The High School Specialty Assembly Package!

Every school year there comes an event that requires a specific approach to meet the needs of the situation. It may involve a passage of rite, an academic achievement, a recognition of honor, or just plain fun! What the speech requires is a motivational approach, great content, a target emphasis and lots of humor! Pat Hurley has thirty years of experience to meet that need for you and your students. The following are suggested concepts and topics for you to consider...

Freshman Orientation Assembly

Pat speaks to your incoming freshman in preparing them for high school. His topic is called, "Respond with Respect!" His emphasis is on leaving middle school behind and turning it up a notch to get ready for not only high school, but college and career
beyond that. He encourages the 9th grade class to pursue excellence, work on their potential, respect themselves, develop their individuality and not compromise! Very entertaining with wisdom, stand-up comedy and personal illustrations!

High-Risk Student Assembly

In recent years, Pat has been asked to address high-risk student conferences and assemblies and as a result, he has developed a special approach to the non-conformist young person. His message is entitled, "The life you save may be your OWN!" Pat himself, was a rebel in his high school days and turned his class clown antics into a college degree and an Emmy award winning television career! He understands the uniqueness of the high-risk student who may be struggling with a tough home life,
underachievement, self-destructive tendencies, addictive behavior or a low self-esteem. These students love his gentle approach, filled with personal honesty and plenty of humor!

Student Recognition Assembly

Over the years, Pat has addressed not just the Future Business Leaders of America, but, Renaissance, the National Merit and California Scholarship Federation members as well. He has two approaches that appeal to them. The first is a motivational message to keep the excellence going called, "Running the race to FINISH!" Pat uses the personal example of the first time he ran the mile in high school and uses the four laps of the race to get his points across. Lap One: Singleness of Objective. Lap Two: Expect failures. Lap Three: Passionate Persistence. Lap Four: Add to your Successes until you hit the tape! Most of all, ENJOY the race!

Adding their parents for an evening meeting is a great idea, too!

Sports Banquets

Twice a year, usually in the winter and spring, there is a need to recognize the top athletes in sports and academics at a banquet. Pat has a message tailor-made for this event entitled, "All the Right Moves!" He reminds your student athletes about the honorable calling of sport, in high school and beyond. He addresses the key issues of character, role-modeling, sportsmanship and reputation. Excellent for humor and the perfect challenge for the young athlete going into a success-crazed society with its "win at all cost" philosophy.

Career Day Assembly

Every school has a career day opportunity for its students. Let Pat give them a career challenge, "There's More to Life than Cafeteria Food!" In this vital message, he focuses on the gifts and talents of your students and how to use them to make the world a better place! Using passionate examples of his own generation, the 1960's, Pat Hurley tells the young people to take their life seriously as did John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, Cesar Chavez, Susan B. Anthony and others in their field of expertise. Yes, it will sound like a journey back to the days when people really CARED about things other than money and comfort. A challenge today's youth needs to hear! There is ample humor here to balance the message as well.

Senior Assembly

Each year there is STAR testing in states for the 9-11th graders leaving the senior class with several days of nothing to do. This is a perfect time for a couple of assemblies! Pat has done several topics here to fill in the gaps made by the schedule. His most challenging one for the senior class is called, "A World of Difference!" It makes them realize the individual contribution they can make with their life after graduation. It is also 70% humorous! He also has a fun talk for guys and girls entitled, Why the Opposite Sex is so WEIRD!" This is an abstinence-based, humorous message for both sexes to understand, communicate and honor each other better! He teases them with sub-topics like,
"GI Joe Respects Barbie!" and "The Thirty-Day Love Test!" It is clean, tasteful and hilarious. Perfect for seniors on a dull day!

We look forward to hearing from you in the hopes we can make your specialty event a SUCCESS!
