and organizing task forces on fundraising, tabling, flier design, you name
it-we need it. And we need you! In the words of Jim Hightower,
"Election 2000 just got hotter than high school love." Come be part
of it! July 18th at 7 PM, in the "Green Room" at the Sierra 2 Center,
2791 24th St, 5 blocks south of Broadway and across the street from Cafe
Melange.

I LOVE C-SPAN!!
The Green Party had hours of coverage on C-Span Sunday, June 25, And
Ralph Nader's Acceptance Speech at the Green Party Presidential Nominating
Convention, Denver, will be replayed on C-Span Independence Day, July 4th,
at approximately 3:15pm EDT (12:15pm PST). If you want to tape it, now's
your chance. At www.c-span.org you can always check schedules for past,
present and future programs. You can also listen to numerous speeches and
programs via RealPlayer.
8)
LET NADER DEBATE!
From Sacramento Greens County Councillor Peggy Lewis: The Denver Convention
has made it obvious that Nader should be included in the Presidential debates.
Not only will he present the Green vision and issues well, he will absolutely
dominate the other candidates.
Please help make sure he will be included. Contact the commission
on presidential debates (funded largely by Anheiser Busch) and let them
know that without third party candidates, the debates are meaningless.
The three ways you can contact the Commission:
1) You can write to:
Frank J. Fahrenkopf and Paul G. Kirk
Commission on Presidential Debates
1200 New Hampshire, NW
Box 445
Washington, DC 20036
2) Or send comments via their Website:
http://www.debates.org/pages/contact.html
3) Working Assets has already crafted a letter, and
put it on their Website
so you can ascribe
your name to it and email
it directly
to Fahrenkopf and Kirk (the
url is too big for
the line so copy and paste
each part of it
separately):

9)
DOES A VOTE FOR NADER MEAN A VOTE FOR BUSH?
In Minneapolis Star-Tribune, June 29th: "The conventional wisdom has
it that any votes Green Party presidential nominee Ralph Nader gets on
Nov. 7 will come almost exclusively out of Vice President Al Gore's hide.
But recent national polls suggest that the conventional wisdom may be wrong,
as it often is." Read why at (again, a wrap-around URL): www2.startribune.com/stOnLine/cgi-bin/article?thisStory=82023166
10)
WILL NADER'S RUN DAMAGE THE SUPREME COURT?
L.A.Weekly executive editor Harold Meyerson interviewed Ralph Nader
shortly before the start of the Green Party Convention, and raised the
issue:
MEYERSON: Among
people I know on the left, they have no doubt that you are programmatically
superior to Gore-- that's not the issue. The one issue I hear coming up
perhaps more than any other is fear of what Bush would do to the Supreme
Court.
Read Nader's insightful, un-soundbite-able analysis of this all-important
issue at: www.laweekly.com/ink/00/32/cover-meyerson.shtml
11)

or local campaign contributions and public financing.

Hills and the fight against the senior citizens' housing hoax.
13)
STOP DEER CREEK HILLS
The Deer Creek Hills Initiative, if passed, will allow a wealthy developer
to promote smog, pollution, congestion, and sprawl so that he can become
even more wealthy. Learn more at http://www.scancentral.org/sprawl/
Please call the Sacramento Board of Supervisors and let your Supervisor
know that you are opposed to the Deer Creek Hills Hoax. If you don't know
who your supervisor is, call 874-5411 and ask. By law, the board cannot
take a position on this initiative, but they can individually. While
you're at it, you could also tell city council members and mayoral candidates.
14)

held on Sunday, July 9th, at 5:30 PM in the Sacramento Natural Foods Coop
