Cool Stuff I Did in High School High School feels as if it was such a long time ago or maybe it is just that my memory is fading. However, after racking my brain... I remember the 6 a.m. swim team practices at Nuss Pool with the chlorine so heavy that afterwards I couldn’t see for the first three periods. Then to top it off...my hair turned green. I worked at Muzio’s Grocery Store, participated in all night rock-a-thons at Mission Plaza, and became a counselor at Camp Natoma during the summer. I was in Camp Fire until the very end because my Mother wouldn’t let me quit (and my kids wonder where I get it from). I remember Hugh Cocke taking me to the DMV to get my Driver’s License because I was too scared. Lets see...for those of you who never forget..."THE TUNNEL"... oops that was Junior High, but certain people still remind me of it whenever I see them. (Memories like elephants). And yes, cruising was always the Thursday night ritual. Does anyone remember a certain party at a Cayucos beach house during our Senior Easter break...as I recall I got into a wee bit of trouble over that one. And lastly getting pulled over by SLOPD with a bunch of girls in a stationwagon full of water balloons one Halloween night. We got a huge lecture about the dangers of water balloon tossing only to have one of the officers throw one at us...the driver of that certain stationwagon had a few choice words for that officer...I bet the police wish that was all they had to worry about these days. Other than that I prefer to remember it all as a blur...
Cool Stuff I've Done in the Last 25 Years I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Japan and Guatemala and hope that is not the end of traveling. We have hosted foreign exchange students from Japan and Belgium for the last couple years. I practice Yoga almost daily and it has helped to center my life in ways I never thought possible. If I’m able, I hope to teach Yoga after my kids graduate from High School. I have to admit I can’t say that working for the Government has been a ton of fun, but it was necessary since I was a single parent for a long time. I’m still working for that slow moving bureaucratic wheel, but my burden was lightened considerably three years ago when I married Greg. He is an amazing man who puts up with me and doesn’t seem to mind my brood. One could say there is nothing like having three kids in High School and one at college to know I would never want to go back to High School, especially these days. My children help to keep me very busy with sports, afterschool activities, and being a taxi driver (I have a friend who used to call my van, The Goober Mover). However, they are by far my greatest accomplishments and give me my greatest happiness. Enough said...life is good and I hope everyone is well. If I don’t make it to the reunion this year (due to vacation plans), I hope all of you have a wonderful time.
