I myself do not use these paks but they are in most cases NOT for use in game unless you want to cheat which is ok by me

Note that these paks may be already in your quake/id1 directory so rename them to the next up like say you hav in your quake/id1 folder pak0 and pak1 so you would rename one of these files to pak2 and pak3 and so forth.
