Hesperia Christian opened their 2003-2004 basketball season with a win against Pahrump Valley of Nevada, a tough Div IV team. They now meet Silver Valley in the tournament semifinals. For the second season, HCS opened their season at the Silver Valley Tournament. HCS is presently 1-0. Silver Valley is a fast breaking team that will really test HCS' defensive skills. Loren Barton, Nate Glass and Sean Bayer will have to contain Silver Valley's 6' 5" center, Cameron Herbert. Trevor Wagstaffe will have the task of preventing Lucas Blankenship of Silver Valley from getting into a 3 point shooting groove. Josh Hamilton will need to stop high scoring Silver Valley senior Sydney Tharpe. Overall, the Patriots will need to keep up their outstanding rebounding stats against this team with hops. Josh Hamilton needs to keep up his scoring as he did last night against Pahrump Valley. Tonight's game will really test the speed and defensive skills of the sophmore tandem of Zach Howard and Billy Hague and test the power rebounding and put up shooting of Soph Mike Petersen. This game should be a good litmus test of how good HCS might be this season.
