Advice from Student Trustees
| Student Trustee Roles and Rights
and Responsibilities The Role of the Student Trustee can be quite confusing as there is no
universal standard set in stone. As the law allows for variance in rights,
the different roles can often lead to different rights. For example, a
district that views the Student Trustee as an ASO Student Representative to the
Board may deny most privileges afforded by law, whereas a district which views
the Student Trustee as a member of the board may give their Student Trustee
their full rights. Rights usually depend on roles and Student Trustee
roles vary widely by district. It is essential that Student Trustees
understand their role in order to ensure maximum effectiveness. It is our
opinion that the
Student Trustee, like any other Trustee, is a board member. We hope the
