For those of you that don't know who we are, or what this is all about, read this. Us three, (Dave, Tom, and Dan) are three band geeks that are based out of Michigan. We are a rock band that does NOT use pyrotechnics in small clubs. You have nothing to worry about here. We have hopes of someday making it big and having everyone love us. For now we just have to play in basements and backyards and get yelled at for being stupid wherever we go. When the cd comes rolling out we hope to get at least a little respect from our peers. If you are nice to us now, it may help you when we come unbelievably famous. Check back every now and then to see whats going on.
The idea for a new band started with Dan Cottrell, David Krolikowski and Thomas Kerwin late December 2002. Eager to get started, Dan and Tom [formerly from Sudden Outrage] got together to write some songs. Tom showed up with the song "Over It," which came together pretty well the first night they worked on it. A little while later they pulled Dave in and showed him the music. All pumped up, they worked on the song until fingers were about to bleed, then they called it a day, or so they thought. Just when they were packing up, a UPS package popped up at Dan's front door. It was a shipment of microphones, stands, and other recording equipment they had been waiting for. They ripped it all out, swarmed the drum set with mics, plugged it all into their new mixer, and recorded the first track of "Over It" that night. That was sometime in January of 2003. That week, over $500 was spent on a new mixer, microphones, stands, guitar strings, and a bass book. From then they started working on new songs and perfecting the one song they had just created. New Addition was born and thriving.
The band decided that the name "New Addition" had to go. It was too similar to an 80s pop group's name. They wanted to be all original so they are going to go name lessfor awhile.
In March the idea had sprouted for a new member to join in to the group. They needed another guitarist. They searched high and low and finally came upon a very talented player that didn't have a major ego trip (that's good.) The guitarist that was finally chosen by majority vote (3-0) was Doug Diedrich. Doug would go on to play with them on their cd, battle of the bands, and other shows.
Every once in a while I add some new stuff to this page. So if you hear some rumors, it's not true until you read it here.
