An argument...
Jessa skips back into the room, her lesson over and a bubbly in her hand. She beams at the gathered folks, "Hello!" Cheerful and innocent she is.
Shimmer grins at Srin, and waves belatedly, "Heyla, Srin! Yep, Jessa. She ducked out to go to a class, though...you just missed her." Shim notes before sighing and standing slowly, stretching lazily before a glare is affixed upon Shad. "I swear, Senior Apprentice Shadis, if you don't clean up your language right now, ESPECIALLY around innocent apprentices, I will PERSONALLY wash your mouth out with soap." Shim threatens, narrowing her eyes. "Not to mention the torture of a long, drawn-out apprentice rules lecture from yours truly. And chores. And many other things." she notes, taking a step closer to Shadis with each point she makes, though sapphire eyes twinkle with merriment...though it wars with anger. Bad Shadis.
Kyu innocently creeps out from behind the table to hide behind... or beside... Jessa. Partners, after all, although her eyebrow is raised and her ears have decieded to remain shut. Tight shut. He is a sight to behold, though.
Jhenero stifles a gleeful grin, leaning forward again just slightly to peer out at Jessa. "Returning to the scene of the crime..." he mutters under his breath, then gives a careful glance about the room - as if... searching for other hiding places?
Never one to be serious in such situations, this is Sarin's constribution: "Or you could just put a bucket over his head. This one, say." She holds up the bucket, now devoid of fish but probably still nursing the fishy odor. "And deal with the punishments and stuff later. Just a thought." Of course, Srin's remaining knee deep in the water throughout this. "Hey, Jessa."
Shadis doesn't even take note of Jessa's entrance. He's far too intent on getting back at Shimmer for treating him like a child and for laughing at him and all the various angers that have built up along the way. He /never/ acted that way towards her when /he/ was promoted before she. Either way, there are many built up slights in him and he's taking revenge. He does shut up, growling slightly instead as he grabs Shimmer in his arms and heads for the ledge, promptly throwing her as far out into the water as he possibly can.
Jessa looks suitably innocent. Scene of crime? What crime? There was no crime committed. And if there was, Jess didn't commit it. Can't you all see that sparkling halo of innocence above her head? Oh wait, nevermind, that's just her messy hair being frizzy. Curly hair is a pain. Jess continues to beam innocently and acts unaware of the situation in front of her. "Hiya Shim! Hi Srin," Hm, did that just kind of rhyme? Maybe, in some odd way, "'Ey Kyu an' Jhene an' Shadis." She's innocence incarnate, really.
Kyu grins a little shakily at Jessa. Don't be too worried, she'll learn, someday. Yup. "Heya, Jess."
Shimmer twists delicately in the air and dives into the water, quickly surfacing and glaring in the vague direction of Shadis. "SHADIS! This is the SECOND dress of mine you've RUINED! When I get back there, Shadis..." Shim seems to threaten angrily, stroking awkwardly towards the ledge. You have no idea how hard it is to swim in one of Shim's infamous dresses until you've tried to. Finally, the girl seems to decide, in the pursuit of decency and innocent eyes, to duck underwater and swim underwater to the ledge. Easier that way...and, voila. Shimmer has returned, and pulls herself onto the ledge slowly, taking a moment to reorganize herself, panting slightly. S'not every day you're forced to swim in clothes. "Just because you're bigger than me, Shad, doesn't mean you can just throw me around! You're lucky I didn't get hurt..." Shimmer rants, standing up slowly and padding towards him...albeit slowly, and with many small adjustments of her dress upon the way, the soaking wet girl fairly glows with anger. "And, if you'll note, I did not tie you up!!" she notes calmly...perhaps a little too calmly. Suddenly, however, Shim seems to get herself under control and suffices her anger by glaring at Shadis, a pool of water forming around her. Perhaps past memories haunt the girl?
"Hi, Jessa," comes the loud reply from Jhenero's general direction, an odd stress coming through on the name. "What have /you/ been up to lately?" A pointed glance falls on the chair and bits of string scattered about the ledge, chair, and Shadis's person. The the boy's eyes flash wide again, mouth dropping open in surprise as Shim goes flying into the water. Leaning forward with all the excitement of a child watching a good show, he props his elbows up on his knees, craning his head out of the doorway to see her wet approach. Fuuuun...
Revenge is revenge, but Sarin isn't going to allow total anarchy. The fact that Shadis hasn't exactly made her pity list doesn't help, either... "Shadis, do I need to call the guards?" She's certainly not going to take him on herself, oh no. With back up she might, but who's here to back her up? Cowering apprentices, and the other half of the fight - Shimmer. "You two obviously have some things you need to... work out, but not by fighting. Not in My Hall," and her tone makes the capitalization obvious. See, she can be an authority figure. Or try to be, at least. "Shimmer, are you all right? Do you need anything? A towel?" Now, if only there were tranquilizer guns on Pern...
Kyu knows when she can be helpful, oh yes. At least she hopes so. Grinning thankfully at Srin, she glances at him for a moment, and dashes off to fetch a dry towel from the nearby baths. Anything to get her away from this... horrendous, oh so horrendous scene!
Jessa is completely innocent. See the halo? See? So what if it's just messy hair. Pretend folks! Use your imaginations. As her friend Shimmer is thrown into the water Jess gapes for a moment, then returns to her usual innocent look. Nothing out of the ordinary going on here. Nope nope. The senior appy beams at Jhenero. "Not much. I had a really good lunch," really good meaning large and filling of course, "And then I had a lesson. And now I'm here." Perfectly innocent, as always.
Shadis glares after Shimmer angrily for a moment, before turning, jaw clenched so tightly it might break, towards the Library. Jessa is spotted and given a look of pure hatred, though anyone who knows Shadis would never believe he's capable of such feelings. He stalks away, giving only the slightest of nods in Sarin's direction, more of an acknowledgement that she spoke than anything else. Only a few moments after he tosses Shimmer, he's already out of the room, on his way to his haunt... The Records Room.
Shimmer looks immediately contrite and takes an interest in her feet before blinking. Wait! She's not in the wrong, here. "I'm sorry, Srin..." she apologizes, though she gazes at Shad as though /he/ should be the one apologizing. "I'm fine. A little wet." Shim notes with a wink at Srin, before the girl frowns and pads after Shad, still sopping wet. She knows where he's headed...and apparently, Shimmer isn't finished with him yet.
The look of hatred is caught, not that it bothers Jess or anything like that. She's innocent, remember? The senior appy shrugs slightly and then goes to plop down in a chair, "So, Jhene, how are ya doing?"
Shadis walks to the south.
Shimmer bounces with a light step, sapphire eyes sparkling... to the south.
Jhenero shrugs once, inching out of his seat in the doorway now that the action seems to be moving on. "Not bad, I guess. You know, same-old same-old." He flashes a grin, flicking hair out of his eyes with a twitch of his head. "I never seem to come up with fun pranks to pull or anything like that," he adds, along with another meaningful glance toward the 'scene of the crime'. Immediately, though, he moves on to the next subject, face blanking out and reappearing with a bright. "How about you? Anything interesting happen lately?" This time, the question has complete disregard for the string scene - he obviously means /other/ interesting stuff...
Jessa shrugs, "Eh, nothing interesting has happened really." Nothing, she's innocent, no pranks, sorry to disappoint.
Kyu shrugs, and throws a secretish glance at Jessa. So, taking her cue, she decides to play it cool. Can't knot strings now for a pastime, no she can't, so... for lack of something better to do... "Anyone hungry?" she asks, inching towards the food.
"Hungry!" Jhenero pounces on the word and goes from the floor to his feet in one smooth motion, pausing a moment with hands angled outward for balance before taking off in the direction of food. "I'm /starving/!" Not that he's in any way deprived - there's meat enough on his bones - but he is a growing boy, after all...
Did someone mention hungry? As in, time to eat? Jess yawns at Kyu, and then shrugs her shoulders. "Eh... no." Wait, did Jess just turn down food? Did she?
Sarin wades back into the shallows of the water and has a seat. "Shards. What? Oh, no thanks." She pauses, then grins. "Starving, Jhenero? Is that in any way Tseyrin's doing, or just a general part of growing up?"
Kyu chuckles, returning to the other appies and Srin with a plateful of meatrolls 'n other miscellaneous stuff. Food, everyone. And then she pauses in her tracks, asking worriedly. "Jess? You ok?"
Jessa lazily shrugs at Kyu. "I'm not hungry." It's that simple. Believe it or not. "Something wrong with that?" She asks of Kyu, slightly challengingly.
Jhenero grabs up a meatroll from the plate, but pauses with it halfway to his mouth, a mischievous grin crossing his face. His gaze settles musingly on Srin as the hand hovers just below his chin. "Hmmm. And what would happen if I said yes?" he asks innocently, then takes a slow bite, feigning thoughtfulness as he chews.
Sarin shrugs. "Weellll.... I could have a word with her. Or just send you food in the dormitories." Because Sarin isn't afraid of the men's dorms. Whether or not Tseyrin is afraid is irrelevant, at least to Srin. "How is that going, by the way?"
Kyu just finds it weird... strange... whatever. "Uh, I don't really know... it's just that I've never seen you turn down food before..." Shaking her head once or twice to clear her mind, she retreats to a chair.
Jessa grins slightly, and then begins to laugh at Kyu. The senior appy laughs and laughs and ... laughs some more. Whatever could she be laughing at? The girl laughs so hard, that she eventually falls down on to the floor with a thud.
Jhenero pauses as if considering, then shrugs and shakes his head, lifting the meatroll again. "No, it's not her - I'm just always hungry..." He opens his mouth to take a bite and freezes again, hand lowering as he blinks in confusion. "The dorms? Well, my cot's a bit farther to the back than I'd like, but... so far no troubles." His eyebrows draw together to give the woman a very odd gaze indeed, then turn back to his food as he takes a nice, /large/ bite. This eating thing sure takes longer when he has to talk at the same time...
Sarin raises an eyebrow. "Jessa? Is something amiss that isn't normally amiss? Do you need a healer?" Then a nod to Jhenero. Not the question she was intending to ask, perhaps, but she takes that in stride. "Mm. Well, if you need new sheets or something, just let me or the headwoman know. And how are things going with Tseyrin?"
Kyu ponders, and really tries to wonder why Jessa is laughing. She blinks, many times, but still doesn't get it. And as a result, ends up sitting in a chair, blinking like a landed fish, and... in general, not comprehending almost everything around her. "Uhhhh...?" A moan that becomes a question, yeah.
Of course there's nothing amiss that isn't usually amiss. Lots of things are usually amiss. Like coherence and sanity. Jess continues to laugh some more, then the laugh turns into giggles. And then the laughing and giggling tapers off. "Nah, I'm fine." She grins at Kyu, "You actually believed I wasn't hungry? Of course I'm hungry, I'm starving!" Of course she is, would she ever be any other way? Odd mood the senior appy is in today, tying up folks and then laughing hysterically.
Jhenero nods, the odd expression still present though a glimmer of light appears in his eyes. Did he catch on? Perhaps... He takes his time in chewing, the finally swallows and allows a grimace to cross his face. "Tseyrin? Well... you know her.." He pauses, eyeing the meatroll distastefully for a moment, then plants a grin as he glances back up. "Oh, it's not as bad as I thought?" He pauses, then adds, "But also not quite as good as I might've hoped before I met her..." Another shrug. "I'm getting by, I guess you could say. I think I've even impressed her favorably once or twice.."
Sarin chuckles and splashes a little, though she's not making any effort to splash any of the people. "Jolly good. Have some food, then. We ought to hire a kitchenstaffer, just for you, Jessa dear." She grins in Jhenero's general direction, "Mm. Yes, I do know her... Well, 'tis good that you've impressed her. Is she still holding to that swimming thing?"
Kyu finally ceases her blinkings, but not after she's sneaked in a few more. Surprise, surprise... so she's ended up being the not-so-butt of a joke. "Err... ok..." Right. Her senses aren't fully home yet, but it'll do. Snagging another meatroll to chew on, she sighs.
>font color=green>It's good to maintain a healthy dose of randomness and spontenaity. Really. Jess grins and snatches up a meatroll, and then takes a seat on the chair once more. "Oooh, can we really do that Srin?" She teases back. That would be just perfect, y'know.
Jhenero gives a little shrug. "Well, she sort of is, but she's expanded it to include senior apprentices now, so... It's not quite as restricting as it once was." He tilts his head toward Jessa in emphasis. "There are a lot more options when the seniors are included, you know.... And anyway, I only have four more classes to go - well, five if you count water safety." This news is delivered with a bright grin that belies his acceptance of the mandate. He's still counting down...
Sarin smirks at Jessa. "Not sure if there's space in the hall's budget for that. Maybe we could rearrange the chores so that you've just got kitchen duty, and can therefore provide your own food. I'll look into it." She gets up now and makes her way out of the water, halting at the edge to drip for a minute or so. "Well, that's good," this directed to Jhenero.
