Dolphincraft

Yythara's promotion, scuttling...and a rather large amount of dolphincrafters going through the Lounge!

You go to the Hall's Lounge.

Hall's Lounge
Cozy to the point of downright stuffy this lounge exudes a salty briny air. Overstuffed and comfortable looking are the chairs of dark blue that reside at one end of this circular room. The smattering of tables that they surround are nothing more than tops with scarred wooden legs attached as well they should be. The bases of the tables and chairs are waterstained and marked by mild salt buildup. Rugs worn with age decorate the polished floor of this relaxation area soft greens and browns making barefeet swoon. Paintings of charts and various sea mammals and fish have been painstakingly added to the walls creating the atmosphere of their mother sea. To one side of the bridge is a wide ledge... [look closer]
Settled near the water are Terpsichore and Tolemur
Swimming about is Tursi
You see Remailla here.
Sarin, Yythara, and Mailli are here.
Obvious exits:
Baths Men's Dorms Staff Hall Women's Dorms Infirmary Bridge Sea Lane

Sarin is seated at the edge of the water, facing into the lounge. She submerged about to mid-belly and appears pretty serene.

Jessa scuttles out of the dorms. Yes, that's right, the Jess is scuttling along. She's in a semi-sitting position, with her feet and palms on the floor. She moves sideways, using her hands and legs to propel her.

Mailli walks in behind the ever curious toddler that is her daughter, "Ailla, slow down dear," she stops and waves to Srin and Yythara before she rushes to catch the overly inquisitive toddler from toddling right off the ledge and into the water beyond. Mai eyes her mentee, then shrugs. There is more than enough room in this hall for all kinds of craziness. Right? Right, thought so.

It's a picture of frustration; Yythara, gangly legs drawn up and crossed, hunched over a bit of cloth and laboriously - it appears - making an attempt at sewing it. "Shardit!" a finger flies to her lips, eyes wide with the pain of the needle-prick. "Stupid... suit!"

Jessa returns Mailli's eyeing look with a grin. This is normal, right? Indeed it is. The apprentice begins to scuttle over towards her mentor and her mentor's cute little kid. Toddlers are fun to play with. They have this amazing penchant for having fun and getting into trouble. Too bad Jess had to grow up and leave her toddler stage.

Sarin gives a friendly wave to Mailli, smirks at Jessa, and frowns slightly in the general direction of Yythara. "Yythara? Are you okay? And do you need a thimble?" Or a weaver? Paging Master Weaver, you're needed in the dolphinhall for a sewing emergency... "And what are you making? And why am I starting every sentence with and..."

Yythara glances up from her work, brows arched high as she pastes on a grin to greet those in the hall. "Ehee.. uhm. Hello! And no, I'll be alright. I'm just trying to mend this suit... and.. Ow." She holds out the injured finger, watching the dot of red build up before sucking on it to stem the bleeding once more. "What're you doing?" Without any true direction, this question appears to be for all present - a smile to fellow Appy and Journeymen. And child, too.

Mailli chuckles as she scoops up Ailla and sits down on the ledge, bare feet dangling in the water, "Maybe because you're stuck for some other way to start a sentance?" she gently teases Sarin.

Jessa beams at Yythara. Silly fellow appies. What is with the sewing? Seems that Jess finds a lot of them sewing things or such. As if they were weavers or something. The apprentice makes slow progress scuttling over to Mailli. Scuttling is hard work, y'know, takes a lot out of you, but builds the arm muscles up decently. "Hi Mailli." Jess sits for a moment to free up her hands to wave at the toddler.

Remailla turns to peek at Yythara, "Yy?" she questions then spots Sarin, and giggles, "Srin!" more giggles as she finally sees Jessa, and she claps her little hands. Yup, doesn't take much to amuse a young child.

Innocent little children. So easy to corrupt. Bwahahaha. Jess grins at the toddler, and then sticks her tongue out and makes a face at the child. So fun to play with.

"I think I've been reading too much old bad poetry, actually," suggests Sarin. "Or I'm having a bad language day." She shrugs and stretches out her legs under the water. "Yythara, dear, maybe you ought to ask the headwoman to take a look at it. Or see a weaver. We don't want you being damaged." She grins and waves to Remailla, feeling particularly ambivalent as she's fairly well out of range of spit up, being half submerged.

"I.. well. Maybe," Yythara replies, flush creeping up her cheeks. In truth, it'll be the third time she's bothered the hall staff in one sevenday. And she's not keen on pushing her luck. But yes, the needle-prick seems to have put her over the edge with this stitching business, and she drops the mess of material and thread, flouncing over to the edge of the water. To stand and consider leaping in. Yes.

Mailli chuckles softly, "My, she's usually more reserved around you, Srin," and indeed the child has gone quiet for the time as she watches first Yythara, then Jessa.

Sarin wiggles her toes and watches the ripples. "I'd offer to do it myself," she tells Yythara, "Only my wearable-related skills extend to putting them and switching charms on bracelets." The woman waggles her fingers at Remailla, "Her boldness is almost certainly inspired by the fact that I'm over here and she's over there." Sarin would also weggle, woggle, and wuggle, but those aren't verbs. At least, not verbs that her player is familiar with.

Jessa continues to sit and make faces at the toddler, taking a break from the strenuous scuttling. Then Jess pauses in this and grins at Mailli, "Can she swim yet?" Because, you'd think that such a kid would learn to swim early and all, it just makes sense, being around the 'phincrafters and 'phins and all. Swimming is fun. Probably easier than walking too.

Mailli chuckles, "I don't know what Geraint has taught her yet. I immagine she can at least float?" she chuckles as Remailla starts to giggle and at Jessa again.

Yythara dips one extended toe into the water, pert nose wrinkling towards Sarin in a show of bemusement. "Aw, 's'kay. I'll find someone t'do it if I can't..." The little girl is eyed, then, a bit of discomfort from Yythara. She's not often around children, and therefore isn't sure of how to act...

Sarin scoots back a little farther in the water, so that she is submerged to the chest. She peers briefly at Yythara, then lets out a pleased "Oo! Yythara! Come here!" And, see, this will also give the girl an excuse to hide in the water.

Jessa grins and nods. Well, Mai will have to start teaching her daughter, because it just wouldn't be proper otherwise. Or something like that. Jess grins at the toddler and resumes making faces at Remailla, because making little kids laugh is just so much fun. And Jess really is amusing, right?

Remailla giggles and claps her hands some more. Oooh, Jessa funny, "Jess!" and more giggles.

Yythara blinks once. Blinks twice. And slowly kneels down before delicately hopping into the lapping water. "What, Srin?" she manages to sputter before bobbing briefly below the surface. Arms and legs paddle, then, carrying her a short distance from the ledge.

Rowainne swims in from the southwest.

Sarin digs around in her pocket and pulls something out, something smallish and silver. "You've been a very good little apprentice, so you aren't an apprentice anymore." And that almost made sense... The charm is proffered. "You're a senior apprentice! Senior apprentice Yythara. Has something of a ring to it, don't you think? Congratulations!"

Jessa grins at Remailla, and continues to make faces, giggling a bit herself. Because, it's just silly and all to be entertaining a child and all, fun, but silly. Jess pauses in the silliness, however, to glance over at Yythara and give the girl a grin, "Hey, congratulations!" Promotion, yay!

Yythara gives Sarin nothing but a dumb stare - momentarily. This is followed by a bubbling of nearly dolphin-esque "Eee!"s, the Apprentice-no-longer grasping for the ledge to steady her excitement. She takes the charm with a greatful beam, "Thankew, Sarin!"

Rowainne walks in just in time to see Yythara's promotion, " 'bout time that girl got her promotion to senior appy," she seats herself in a comfy chair and takes out some things that have long been in need of mending.

Sarin beams at Yythara. "You're welcome, dear. You deserve it." Aren't promotions fun? They ought to happen more often. Sarin remains in the water, submerged to the chest, splashing idly. She raises a hand to wave to Rowainne, "Hello there!"

Rowainne chuckles softly, "Hello yourself. Have you sprouted flukes yet?" the older woman teases adding a wink just to make sure everyone understands that she is indeed just teasing.

Mailli chuckles at the familiar sound of Rowainne's voice as she turns to give the headwoman a wave, " 'lo Ro, how have you been? I've not seen you around much."

Jessa peers at the headwoman for a second, before resuming making faces at the silly Remailla. Again she stops, "'Ey Remailla, wanna learn to move around like a spiderclaw?" Because we all know how fun spiderclaws are, and scuttling is fun too.

Sarin chuckles. "You know, that would be really helpful sometimes. But unfortunatly, I have not. Perhaps someday..." she gives a mock-wistfull sigh.

Geraint walks in from the Arched Bridge.

Mailli chuckles as she sets her squirming daughter down. Of course the ungreatful thing flies to Geraint, squeeling with delight the whole way.

Rowainne chuckles at Sarin's answer, then chuckles some more at the child's desertion of her mother.

Jessa is no longer being paid attention to by the toddler. How sad. But hey, at least Jess is old enough to not throw a tantrum at not being the center of attention ...

Geraint smiles and bends down to pick up his daughter chuckling softly as he looks at the other 2 jmen "So whats this i hear about a recent promotion? the phins are talking about it all the way up in cliffs"

Rowainne chuckles softly, "I should have figured you were the child's father, Ger. She looks just like you, and with that, I've some things to tend to in the kitchens." Rowainne sets the mending aside, and makes for the kitchens.

Rowainne walks to the south.

Mailli should have had Sarin for a daughter - Srin had a tendancy to ignore her father unless he came bearing sweets or things shiny. But Srin is all grown up now and sitting in the water. "Really? That's quick, I just promoted Yythara to senior apprentice a few minutes ago. News travels fast, I suppose." She waves after Rowainne as the headwoman leaves.

Mailli chuckles, " 'phins seem to be most as gossipy as flits are. Or so it would appear," she chuckles again at her daughter.

Geraint nods "Of course you should know how fast things travel and are amplified underwater Srin" then turning he looks at his daughter and produces a little widdled(Sp?) flute type instrament and hands it over to her

Remailla giggles and accepts the instrument, which she proceeds to wave around. Or to chew on, don't worry, she'll figure it out eventually. Right now though, it's just fun to wave about, and chewing on it is next to devine since it eases the pain in her gums.

Sarin watches the waving thing for a moment, then flips herself over on her stomach so that she can rest her elbows on the bedrock. "Promotions are good. I'm so proud of Shimmer and Yythara; it's great to see mentees advance."

Jessa didn't ever have a father, at least not one that Jess ever remembers meeting. And as for a mother, Jess didn't meet hers until she was 10 Turns or so. Yeah. The apprentice resumes her scuttling, heading this time for the chairs, because chairs are just much more comfortable than sitting on the ground.

Mailli nods as she too watches the stick-like thing being first waved around the chewed on, "It is indeed, and both Yythara and Shimmer deserve their promotions," a nod before she stands and moves to take the wooden toy away from Ailla, "Ailla, that could hurt someone the way you're waving it around." Get ready.. here comes the scream of outrage.

Remailla screams in absolute outrage that her mother should take something her father has given her, "DA!" she screams at Mailli and tries to take back the flute.

Sarin props her elbows up on the bedrock so that her hands stick out above the water and rests her head on said hands. She winces slightly at the outraged child, and copes by ignoring. "So, Jessa, how have you been getting on?"

Jessa doesn't quite make it to the chairs with her scuttling. Rather, she plunks down on the ground and then rubs her wrists a bit. Scuttling isn't friendly to the wrists. As the toddler shrieks she cringes too. Was Jess that bad? Possibly. She shrugs at the Crafthead, "Pretty good, I think." She's happy, she's been practicing, and she's well-fed, so, she's doing well, right?

Sarin bobs her head. "Good to hear, good to hear. So. You seem to have adopted an interesting mode of transportation of late... Fun, is it?" She splashes idly, swishing her feet up and down in the water. "Are your wrists ok?"

Jessa grins and nods. "Well, I don't do it a lot. And my wrists are fine." She shrugs, "It's a lot fun, but it's not really quick. And sometimes my shoulders and wrists hurt from doing it. I think I like twirling much more." Because twirling is so fun and free, and you look nice and pretty and graceful while doing it.

Jhenero walks sedately in from the Men's Dorms.

Sarin chuckles. "Ahh, yes, that twirling thing. I've seen that. Very interesting. You just be careful around furniture, though - corners have a tendancy to be cruel and vindictive." She pushes herself upright now and scootches back in the water so that she is submerged to her chest again.

Akhira stretches a little as she meanders out of the dorms. Her eyes are a little red from studying too long, but other than that she looks quite chipper.

Tursi swims to the southeast.

Brina skips in from the Journeymen & Masters Hall.

Jessa grins, "Twirling is a lot of fun. But yeah, the furniture is mean. It's fun to twirl away from the furniture." Although, sometimes you know, the furniture and people just can't be avoided. Which would be the source of the multitude of bruises on the apprentice's shins.

Jhenero emerges from his own dorms, casting a quick glance around the room - looking for someone? Whoever it was, they evidently aren't here, for he smiles slightly and wanders over to an empty chair, leaning one arm casually across the table in front of him.

Akhira glances curiously at Jessa, twirling? She shakes her head a little and then flops into an overstuffed chair. Dreamy sigh... ahh so soft so comfy. Her head tips back a bit as she relaxes, as if she'd not a care in the world, or a worry.

Jessa is at the moment not twirling, but that is indeed one of her favorite things to do. Jess smiles at the other two apprentices. It was strange earlier, what with the large number of journeymen here. Kind of makes one nervous, although not really, since the 'phincrafter jmen are just so relaxed and all. But still, being among those of the same rank is rather comforting, is it not?

Sarin is still seated in the water, splashing idly. She raises one hand to wave to the entering apprentices, who happen to be unfamiliar to her. "Hello there. I'm Srin." Title sold separately. "But that furniture is awfull, Jessa. Have you tried wide open fields?"

Jessa nods to Sarin. "Yup, I've been outside before, and even on the beach." There at least if you fall and loose your balance, it's soft. But y'know, sometimes you just can't wait -that- long and a twirl comes on and then all of a sudden you just have to ... TWIRL! *cough* Yeah, something like that.

Relaxed? Doesn't Jessa even /know/ Tseyrin? Good thing she didn't say /that/ out loud... Jhenero finally gives up on just sitting and passes a glance about the room to the others. "Jhenero. Newest apprentice," he nods to Sarin, glancing down at her wrist for charms. No purchase necessary. Haha!

Akhira glances up again at the greeting and shifts a bit in the chair to get a look at Sarin and then gulps as eyes slip down to wrist, shards... "Ah.. Akhira" she stammers and then swallows as she sits up a little better in the chair. Really doesn't do to be slouching in the Craftheads prescence.

Slouching? Well, perhaps some craftheads would object. However, Sarin is currently seated crosslegged with her lower half entirely under water. This is not one to bicker about posture. "Well met, Akhira, Jhenero." She gives a nod to Jessa, "That's true. Sometimes urges are unavoidable. Maybe we ought to do something about those corners... Saw them off, say. Round and oval tables only."

Silly newcomers, trying to look all nice and such. Look at Jess, who's been scuttling around and is currently just plunked on the floor. This is the way to go, oh yeah. Jess grins and nods, "Yeah, we could saw them off, or pad them." Oooh, redo the furniture and all. Sounds like a plan. "But what about the chairs? We can't really saw them off..."

Jhenero raises his eyebrows in surprise. Saw them off? And this is the /Crafthead/ speaking? Wow, the whole craft is mad! No wonder Shim asked if he was insane... The insanity never ends here... "Well, the chairs are easy. You just drag them into the dorms and stack them on top of the newest appren..." He trails off - as if suddenly remembering who the newest apprentice around here /is/... Well, never mind that idea, then...

Akhira nods a little shyly to Sarin and then her jaw drops "Saw them off??" she asks and looks aghast but then she quickly shuts her mouth as she listens and just stays out of it. Certainly she hasn't learned just how far things can go yet, and she's loathe to find that line that shouldn't be crossed.

"We could saw off the corners if we really wanted to," asserts Sarin. "Or add pieces to make them bigger and round. Or we could just buy new chairs..." Yep, this is the crafthead, folks. Fear. "Not sure if we have the budget... Oo! We can collect driftwood, off the beach, and make our own!"

Yes, they are all totally insane and all. But don't worry, it's contagious. Jess grins at Jhenero. Thinking ahead already. Good trait that is. The apprentice smiles at Sarin, "Well, I'm going to go and eat now. And then I'm going to go and find some wood." Because Jess has such a voracious appetite that the girl consumes vast quantities of food rather often. And the project will be fun, oh yes.

Jessa scuttles off towards the kitchens.
