An overly large wherry and a class on specialties...
Dock Central
This area is more of a way station, an area where things are stored for either ship or hold, depending on whether it's come from a ship, or from the hold and bound for elsewhere. A number of doors are arrayed around the area, leading to and from the ledge around the docking cavern itself and the hold, as well as an office and living quarters.
To the southwest, you see one ship.
Gliding above is a brown firelizard.
You notice Cedar asleep here.
Mailli is here.
Obvious exits:
Office/Map room and Library Tunnel to Common Room Apprentice Dorms Docking Cavern/pool and infirmary Docks Rooms
Mailli is seated in an overstuffed chair going over some notes. Of course she is, what else does the woman do all day?
Jessa runs into the room, tearing around a corner and slipping and falling. But that's what happens when you're barefoot and running around. As Jess falls her green 'lizard takes to flight. However her pale furred ferret is less lucky, she has to spring and lands on the ground away from the falling Jess.
Mailli looks up from her notes at the commotion, "Hmmm?" my what a wonderful conversationalist she is right now, "Oh, Jessa, hello."
Jessa hits the ground with a loud thump and winces. That kind of hurt. Now why is Jess running around like a five turn old child? Good question. She beams at Mailli, "Hello!" she greets cheerfully, still laying on the floor where she fell.
Mailli eyes Jessa for a moment, then, "And you would be running why?"
Jessa grins, "I was being chased by a biiiig wherry." Yup yup, a giant wherry chased her in the Dolphincrafthall. Right, and Jess is how old again? Like anyone will believe her.
Mailli hmmms and eyes the girl closely, "And you were with whom, exactly?" though the tone is serious, if anyone looked at Mailli's eyes they would note that green eyes sparkled with mischief.
Jessa continues to grin and remains on the floor where she fell. "I was all by myself and then this giant wherry jumped out at me," she look around and then whispers quietly, "I think it ran away." Her pale furred ferret crawls up onto her back and up to her face, squeaking in her ear.
Mailli chuckles softly as she shakes her head, "I'm sure that your furred friend would colaborate on that?" again there is a soft chuckle.
Jessa nods her head, causing the ferret to cling to her hair to stabilize herself. "I think the wherry was after Nebbie, and then it saw me and decided it wanted to snack on me instead." Jess continues to grin, but keeps her tone serious.
Mailli chuckles as she shakes her head, "Well that's better than being all paranoid," she throws the sleeping Cedar a concerned glance.
Jessa grins and tries to look hurt. "What? You don't believe me? If you go back that way," and she gestures to the common room area, "Then you'll probably see it." It'll probably try and get her whenever she goes that way. Creepy.
Mailli sets her notes aside and looks at Jessa for a short time. She reaches behind her chair and pulls out a small journal, "Yes, well, it seems you've some classes to take. How about Specialties?"
Jessa raises a brow at Mialli, "Classes? Specialties? I haven't had that one yet." She continues to grin and scoots a bit closer to Mailli and her chair.
Mailli nods, "So this is just going to be a run down on the various specialties. I'm going to name the specialty, and you're going to tell me what is expected of someone with that specialty," Mailli leans back in her chair, "So first up is Cartography. After that, why don't you see if you can name as many specialties, and the responsibilities of same in say.. ten minutes?"
Jessa nods and sits partially up, her head resting in her elbows. "Ok. Um, Cartography, they're the ones that make maps. And dolphinhealers specialize in dolphinhealing, beyond the basic stuff that all other dolphineers are able to do, like remove bloodfish. And then there's dolphinsingers, and they keep track of history and the dolphin songs as well."
Mailli nods, "Right you are," she peers at the girl and notes that she is starting to fidget, "Oh, go run along. Tis too nice a day to be cooped up inside," she beams at Jessa and closes the small journal, tucking it once more behind her chair.
Jessa beams nods at Mailli, then stands up quickly. "Thanks," she calls out as she begins to run away again. Ah, the little bundle of energy that she is, although she's technically not little. Oh well. Still a bundle of energy.
