Chapter 9 “Hi, my name’s Bobbi,” I said extending a hand. “Nice to meet you, my name’s Elizabeth. And this is Ashleigh,” she said gesturing to her little girl. “Ashleigh loves Nick, but I’m more inclined to like Kevin.” She said smiling easily. Elizabeth seemed like a genuinely nice woman. “Kevin’s a really great guy. Maybe you two can meet. I think he’s in the market to find a girlfriend,” I said only half joking. “Wait a minute. Don’t they take people up on stage for that one song? Umm… of dang, I can’t remember the name,” I said thinking hard. “I’ll Never Break Your Heart,” Whitney said from behind me. “Thank you. Oh, Elizabeth, this is my friend Whitney. Whitney, this is Elizabeth and Ashleigh.” “Hi.” “Anyway, why don’t you guys go up there when they do that?” I said. “How do you propose we do that?” “Hang on. I’ll get it all worked out,” I said moving up to the barrier in front of me and calling the security guy over. I asked him if they were looking for girls for I’ll Never Break Your Heart and pointed to Elizabeth and Ashleigh. He said he actually did need two more girls and those two looked good enough for him. He opened a little door and walked over to them. They gave him their names and he thanked then and left again. “Thank you so much,” Elizabeth said when I returned. “You’re welcome. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to make someone’s day.” “They’re starting!!” someone behind me yelled as the lights went down. The Boys came in with a flash of light as they literally exploded onto the stage. They sang a song I now can identify as “Get Down” and I screamed along with all the teenyboppers in the crowd. A little later when the girls went up I gave Elizabeth a reassuring smile and waved to Ashleigh. Brian kept stealing glances at Whitney when he was on our part of the stage. I noticed the funky style of the one Ashleigh told me was AJ. I liked the sunglasses and silver jewelry.
