Chapter 32 When we found our seats, that weren’t too shabby, I must say, Whitney had a few questions for me. “What about my show tonight?” “I made it up. You never had a show, it was just a ploy to get you here so you could see Brian in the flesh.” “You did all this for me?” She asked meaning the car borrowing, the tickets, and the ploy of the fake gig, just to get her down there. “Yeah, pretty much,” I said tipping the front of my new black cowboy hat down over my forehead. “I love ya just like a sister, and when this opportunity came, I couldn’t pass it up.” “Thank you. Thank you for all of this,” she said sitting down in her chair. “You’re welcome. Anytime.” The lights went dark and the show began. The Boys were fantastic, I loved the outfits, and dances everything. When it came time for the solos I watched intently as Howie came out and sang a sweet little number that I’d never heard before. He was such a nice guy, too bad I wasn’t overly attracted to him, I thought. The girl who captures his heart, and loves him in return is going to be one lucky girl. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when AJ came on for his solo. I liked the shirt, again, I couldn’t fault the guy for his fashion sense, just\ everything else about him I could see. As he got more and more into the song, he got more and more sexually explicit. I was near the gagging point when he humped the stage. For some reason I had the incredible urge to cover the childrens’ eyes as they watched this. Kevin came out for his solo as I was still in hysterics over what AJ had done. God, a grown man making a fool of himself in front of thousands was a good way to brighten my day. Especially when I had a strong dislike for the man. Kevin sang a cute song, and it was good to hear him sing a solo for once. I smiled as I saw him search the audience for my face. I’d told him where our seats were and he’d promised to look for me. I grinned when he caught my eye but remembered that I still had to surprise Whitney, so I didn’t say anything further. I screamed madly for Kevin and went wild when Brian was the one after him. Brian’s solo was so sweet and heartfelt it had Whitney in tears. I was near that point, but I don’t cry often, so when I do there’s something major going down. Nick’s solo again had me smirking, I mean come on, here’s this blond guy, who acts more like a child now than I did 12 years ago saying “I Need You Tonight” although, when I followed his gaze into the front row, I could almost pick out a tall brunette, who was staring directly at him. Autumn must be here too, I though to myself. They all came back out and sang a few more songs, a few of my favorites being “All I Have to Give” and “Anywhere for You.” What can I say I’m a hopeless romantic. Anyway, when they came back for the encore with “Everybody” I was standing in my seat dancing along with the rest of the teenyboppers. When it was all over and the lights came back up Whitney was all smiles. “I have another surprise for ya Whitney-dearest,” I said grabbing for my purse again. “What else could you have to make this night cooler?” “Backstage passes,” I said simply handing her one and taking one out for myself. We got a few looks from leaving fans but no one bothered us. “How did you…?” She asked incredulously. “Let’s just say I had a little help from a friend,” I said starting to make my way to the backstage entrance where some younger fans and contest winners were gathered with their backstage passes.
