Painted Lady Butterflies are found in every continent except Antarctica and are virtually as widespread as the Cabbage White--and all this without human assistance. They are common throughout Canada The upper surface of their wings are orange, black and white, with a wingspan of 50--60 mm.
Painted Ladies are also raised as part of a Life Cycles Unit in our schools. Each year hundreds of students raise a caterpillar as a school science project and release them into the wild.
