CONCERT REPORTS:

JULY 17 (PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA)

I'm back! I did it!! I want to go again!!!! It was a great show. Full of energy and laughs.  The show started a bit late. The band warmed us up for a few minutes, then they introduced David, and he came out from behind the curtain to the right side of the band. (The side we were sitting on) He was wearing black denim jeans with Lycra or something like that in them, and a somewhat glittery dark purple/maroon shirt. You know, the color you often see him in for his concerts. The first song he sang was "Summer Days", nice up beat version, very similar to the original, center stage. Then he sang "I'll Meet You Halfway", and went to the left of the stage, where someone came up to the stage, gave him a flower and tried to give him a kiss, but she missed. Then, was "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross". Now he was on the right side of the stage, *my* side and another woman came up to the stage, gave him a flower, a note and said something to him. He kind of laughed. She seemed to be waiting for a response, and in the middle of the song, he had to stop and he said, "You don't understand. I can't talk and sing at the same time." He was a very good sport, but this was very annoying to me, as this is one of my favorite songs. It goofed him up on his words and he had to wait a few bars before he could catch up again. Then he talked a little. He said that he was going to do something that he'd never done before. People started clapping and he said, "Don't applaud yet. You don't know what it is." People chuckled. He went on to say that he was talking to a couple of people during recent radio interviews and invited them to join him in singing a song. "I figured they'd chicken out." Dramatic pause. "They didn't." People chuckled again. He invited two radio station personalities, from competing stations on stage with him. Two women, Leigh and Anne, (sp?). They were each on one side of him and they had great chemistry. As he's trying to talk Leigh is pretending to lick his face. It catches his attention but he doesn't seem to know what is going on. She does it a couple more times, and the audience is eating it up. He finally asks what she's doing, then says, "Next time, let me know you're going to lick me." Audience chuckles. He talks some more and now Anne is dinging with the something on the chest area of her dress. He looks at her oddly, and she says, "My button came undone. Oh, imagine the devastating events that could occur from this."  Audience laughs. DC: "Here, let me help you with that." More laughs. Then they very lamely sing, "I Can Feel Your Heartbeat". It was very funny. Now things get a little foggy for me. I think he sang Ricky's tune next. Order doesn't really matter. Anyway, he sang another song or two. I believe it was at this point two people were arriving late to the show. David sees this, walks over, mumbling, " They must be rollers, gold carders." He gets right in front of them and like a scolding parent says, "Are you *just* getting here?" Audience members say something. David says, "Traffic? You're on an Indian reservation!" Everyone laughed, then he told us how very nice and helpful the casino had been to them while they were there and thanked them. Then, I think he started to introduce the gal he was going to do the duet with, when some man shouts out, "Sheena". He gives this evil kind of look and in a voice that says he's been asked this one too many times, says, "No, she's busy. Something to do with a farm." (Ouch!! Naughty, naughty David!) He sang the duet, from at the Copa. Then the gal, Candice sang a solo, "Rescue Me", while DC went back stage and changed his shirt. Anyway, he sang 'Mack the Knife', and maybe one more. He also sang "Lyin to myself", "Rock Me, Baby", and "Echo Valley 26809", Very nice job on this. His voice was so rich when he sang it. I melted. And it's not even one of my favorite songs. He said the most, absolutely most requested song from DC.com was 'Cherish' and he went on to sing that. By this time, ladies off and on were heading up to the stage and the ushers, 65 year old grumpy looking men, were shooing them away. Don't get me wrong. I was very thankful for the wonderful job the ushers did, they just didn't seem to be enjoying it too much! My sister's friend, Dawn, had a rose to give to him and she went up to the stage waiting for him to come to our side again. I don't even remember what song he was singing, but as he approached our side someone threw some panties on stage. David knelt down by Dawn, shook her hand, saw the panties and asked if they were hers. She didn't seem to know what he was saying and she just kind of nodded. He held her hand some and sang some more, then as he went to move on, he put the panties in her hand and said, "You can keep these." She started shaking her head, put her hands up, and in an almost panicked voice "They're not mine." He then went on to introduce the band. Nice catchy beat, but it takes a long time to introduce them all. That lead to a jazzy version of "C'mon Get Happy". He then ended with 'I Think I Love You', and lots of people headed for the stage. As soon as he'd finish in an area, the ushers would shoo the people back to their seats. Also, at some point during the evening, while DC was toweling off, someone sent their little girl, maybe 6, up to the stage. Some lady, whom she didn't know, held her up so DC could see her. He talked to the little girl for a minute and as she was leaving, everyone was shouting "Give her the towel." So, he did. He was making reference at this point to taking us all out for pizza and beer and then heading to his room. I never got to hear how this was going to end, as the little girl showed up. Finally, he said good night, but quickly came out for an encore, singing, "Hollywood  Nights". Very Good. In all, it was about 90 minutes long. Longer than most of his shows, I think. He played guitar on and off throughout the night. My husband enjoyed the jammin/riffing he was doing and wished he'd done more. He said he really had a good time. He said he enjoyed it because DC seemed to enjoy it so much. It wasn't like he was doing it for the money. Well, that's my DC experience. Btw, all the quotes are to the best of my recollection, and may not be completely accurate, but there to give you the flavor of it.

 Hope you enjoyed it!
 Meg

JULY 19 (GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN)

Hi all, not too much time to post, but had to let you all know how wonderful the concert in Green Bay was.  I had to work yesterday morning till 10:00, then headed up to Sheboygan to pick-up my mom and sister--this would be their first show--and then up to Green Bay.  After eating some food, and watching my mom gamble a bit (she won $100.00) we went to wait in line.  The concert was to be held in the outside Pavillion tent next to the casino, so we had to stand in line outside in the hot, humid weather.  We got into line at 4:00 pm and began waiting.  The concert was sold out and it was a first come first served for seating.  By the time the doors were opened at 7:00pm, the line for the show was so long that it actually looped around the lot and ended just about back at the point that it began.  Once they opened the doors, everyone started moving very fast and many were running to get into the front rows.  I didn't move as quickly as I should have, and we ended up in the third row--not the front but still very good seats.  Inside the tent was hotter than it was outside.  Finally it was 8:00 and the show began.  David did most of the same songs he did at the other shows, except that he did not do Sing Me--which was a bit disappointing.  When he returned to the stage after Candice did her song, he returned to the stage late, but he must have been so hot that he return in a nice tight white t-shirt!!!
He ended the concert with the song Hollywood Nights--which sounded really great!!  Once again I ended up crying through about 1/2 of the show but the good(?) part was that I was sweating so much you couldn't tell if I was wiping off sweat or wiping away tears!!
Being at this show with my mom and sister really made it special show for me.  I was also blessed my meeting several individuals at the show from this list (The David Cassidy chat list on Yahoo! Groups - Editor's remark).  The other really neat thing about this show is that David spent some time talking about the Green Bay Packers (our football team) which I have always been a very big fan of.  He actually mentioned several of the older players and coaches by name.  I was so impressed, and so blissfully happy!!  They just don't make talent like David's anymore.  Anyway, I got home last night at midnight and wanted to post so badly, but I still had to pack for vacation that the hubby and I were leaving for at 8:00am this morning.  Managed to get everything packed, a bit of sleep, and to the airport on time.  We spent the day exploring several of the casinos here in Vegas, and since the hubby has fallen asleep, I thought I'd send this out real quick.  Well I should get going--feelin a bit tired right now.  Hope you all have a great weekend, especially those of you who will be seeing David at the Greek.  If it is anything like Green Bay, you are all in for one hell of a treat!!!  Oh yeah, the other thing that really made this concert great is that there were no high rollers in the front.  It was all David fans from the front row to the back row.  We stood up and danced and clapped and yelled and screamed for the whole entire show--sheer bliss

Dawn

PS  And one last thing.  David got a bra and a pair of panties thrown up on stage to him.  The bra he wrapped around his neck briefly, and the panties had a note about it being some girls birthday, so he wished her a happy birthday and threw his towel out to her and said "Now we can say we exchanged lingerie"

* * * * *

Hello all! I see that there are no concert chronicals detailing the Green Bay experience yet, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Anyone feel free to add anything I missed! Note that all quotes are only roughly paraphrased!
Let me start off by saying that this is my 3rd out of 4 concerts. Figured I’d make up for all of the lost years from the 70’s and beyond! Jumping back to the first experience in St Louis, it was just as exciting as I could ever have wished for. David’s voice could still shoot straight through my heart and bring a tear of joy. The second concert in Metropolis, I was able to take a step back, and really take in the whole experience. Of course my eyes were still riveted on David, but the rest of the band and crowd interaction added to the fun. He seemed to really enjoy the full house compared to the small country bar. But at Green Bay, those Packers are a wild bunch! There were already fans lined up 6 or 7 hours before the show, and at least 100 people were already in line when we arrived 2 hours ahead of show. The line zig zagged back and forth across the parking lot, and Oneida staff passed out portable mini-fans and bright turquoise addmission wrist bands in exchange for our tickets. It was about 90 degrees in the shade, and several of us appreciated the fans! I looked around for others wearing the new DC Tshirts, but there were only a few. Quite a number of people were hoping to pick one up at the show, and wanted to know where to get them. Of course, I was more than happy to share!
The line began to move slowly at 7pm, but as we entered the tent, the rush began. I hurried to the far side of the room to the right, and got seats about 10 rows back. Some nice women later told us that we could move up a row. Everyone around us was nice, and eager to hear about what was to come, but I didn’t want to give it all away! Immediately, I noticed one surprise which I had not seen at the other shows. There were several cameras simulcasting people in the audience. People with signs and LPs rose up one by one, and as the camera zoomed in on each one of them, the audience cheers heightened. By the time David was announced, there was already fever spreading. The whole crowd stood up and most never sat down.
David came out in a softer mauve colored satin shirt and black skin tight shiny pants. His hair was decidedly longer on top than a month ago, and blew in the slight breeze. His face lit up as he looked out, as the tent was completely jam packed all the way to the back wall. There seemed to be standing room only.
I found that my eyes went back and forth between David and the overhead screen. Whoever was running that show did a spectacular job! There were beautifully sync'd special effects, and several camera angles added to the fun! One camera was in the very front looking up at David, and you could easily imagine being transported to beneath the stage. (Would LOVE to buy that video... HINT HINT!)
I Can Feel Your Heartbeat was followed by his question... "where were you in the summer of 72?", and Summer Days drove the crowd wild. Why let the fever die down?... so along came I’ll Meet you Halfway. The crowd cheered the lyric change... to reach out and touch one another... and he urged everyone to sing with him. Everyone obliged! David was having so much fun that he lost a few of the words to No Bridge, but quickly got right back into it.
Next it was time to welcome the hometown crowd. He said "if you’ve never been to Green Bay, you’ve never been anywhere!". I don’t know whether a fan gave it to him, but he put on a Packers baseball cap, and wondered whether Brent Favre might be shaking in his boots. The crowd cheered their football team. Fans were waving items in the air, and David went to grab a few of them. He had a mardi gras necklace, and a bright purple bra, which he wrapped around his neck, and said something about Sammy Davis no longer being with us. So many people were waving things at him, that he said "It’s wonderful to be having this conversation, but I don’t think that the other 2000 people here are into it". Then he grabbed the standing microphone to pull it down to be seated, and laughed that they’d given him another "trick microphone!". Once he got it set, he talked about visiting Green Bay only once in the 70s. He talked of being a big football fan in the 60s, and talked of several old Packers who we might know from the "ESPN classic set!". He talked of wanting to revisit "early memories for some of us who have grown up together", and led into... ferris wheel and sunshine laughter!
Fans continued to reach up, so he said that "even though I’d love to have a personal conversation with each one of you, I can’t even walk and chew gum at the same time"... and "for those of us with brain damage...it’s okay I survived... and so did you!". The laughter continues. He slowed it down, and talked about the wonderful experience in the past 5 years in Vegas, closing the Copa, and bringing the show to us... oh she made me weary... Try a Little Tenderness, followed by an introduction of the "lovely and talented Ms. Candace Davis Martin"... Do I love you my oh my... river deep mountain high, and Candace solo... Come on baby, Rescue Me.
Welcome back to the stage... David Cassidy... drum beats restlessly as we await David’s return. David emerged from the curtain sporting a very tight flattering white v-neck tshirt. He laughed at his delayed return to the stage, and said that it took him a little longer to "peel off" his clothes! Then came "the part we are going to dread, the audience participation... take yourselves back to year 1957... I wasn’t the only person who was alive back in 57... but I’m close!... back to a coffee house in Greenwich village". He pointed to a guy that wasn’t snapping his fingers, and asked for the spotlight and said "yeah, baby, you can run but you cannot hide!" The laughted faded, and "okay he’s had his 15 seconds... back to the coffee house"... Well the shark bites with his teeth... Mack the Knife!
Despite fears of losing my fave song, the next tune sauntered in... Are you sleeping my baby... here we are so far away… now don’t ya cry... Ricky’s Tune!... Old Trick new style with some revised lyrics. From there, he picked up the pace and led into... So I’ll never feel your touch again... Lyin’ to Myself. Next put your hands together and rock with me... you may call me a rollin stone... Rock Me Baby!
By the end of the rockfest, the man is bathed in sweat. He toweled off and then flung the towel in circles overhead. You could see sweat fly 20 or 30 feet. David said "what? It’s only sweat!... and if you think it’s warm out there, I’d like to invite you up to the stage... but I can’t". He started to talk about how wonderful it was being there, and broke midsentence to pick up a bra and said "is this somebody’s bra that I don’t know?" ... (hilarious!)... "this one says something... (wacky voice)... Birthday girl Berb... Berb... where’s Barb?" He flings his sweaty towel at her 10 rows back and then said "we exchanged lingerie!". It was laughter pandemonium! He picked up other items thrown to the stage... "this one has her phone number!" with a mischievous chuckle. Then he talked about how he asked each and every person who went to DC.com to give him our top five songs, and how he was amazed that some of these songs he has never played, such as the next song most requested... by far... and said it’s "how I feel about you over the years that we spent together"... Cherish is the word I use to describe... which cascaded into... Last night, I turned out the lights laid down and thought about you... Followed by a bluesy improv to introduce each member of the band… I’m gonna tell you a story... about a long time ago... leading into... Cmon down and meet everybody... Cmon get happy!
The fever never died, and David seemed as happy as could be. He oozed sincerity when he said "You make me happy... I waited 10 years to come back and tell you that!", and how he felt so lucky to be here with us! Doesn’t he know that we are the lucky ones? Then he went on to thank everyone for all of the underwear and... doing his best Christopher Lowell impersonation ... "how very spethial that is... I espethially like the pink ones"! Amidst thunderous applause and laughter, he immediately switched persona gears to a deep voice... "let’s go down some beers together... I’ll meet ya at the bar." What a hoot!
Finally, from David to each and every one us... (Piano plinks the first note)... beautifully, slowly, soulfully, in acapella he belts... Don’t you know they’re sleeping...mmmm... right in the middle of a good dream... and the band encourages clapping to finish ITILY uptempo. After a very brief exit... We already missed him... she stood there bright as the sun on that California coast... and did a riveting performance of Hollywood Nights. It was over all too soon. Can it get any better than this?

JULY 21 (LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA)

FAMILY NIGHT AT THE GREEK

Knowing that I wasn't going to meet David, but might be able to see the rest of the family, I was even more excited about sitting in the audience for David's Greek show.
It was great to see & put faces to so many email addresses from the lists.  I sat next to Lynn G (from Shaun's list) for the first part of the show (a comic), & met Sue K & PJ, Joyce, Scott & Jennifer (from Get Happy & Shaun's list) & saw old friends I'd lost touch with over the years.  The comic played up to two twin 7-year olds in the front row. It was cute.
The star-sudded audience included Drew Carey, (who sat 2 rowns behind me), Henry Diltz, Evelyn Ward, Beau, & Katie, & Shaun, Susan, & Caitlin Cassidy (about 4 rows in front of me), Jessica Cassidy & her date (sitting to my left), and Ryan Cassidy & his date, sitting behind Jessica. I got a photo taken with Ryan, & took photos of Jessica, Caitlin & Susan as a group & a new photo of Susan & Shaun.  Both Shaun & Ryan complemented me on my looks.
David's concert set didn't change too much from Laughlin, although he added Ricky's Tune & a finale of Bob Seeger's "Hollywood Nights" after Cry. He omitted I Am A Clown.  He opened in his blue satin shirt & changed into a sparkly black shirt after Candice's solo.
David spent a lot of time introducing the "celebs" in  the audience, including "Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson & Madonna!"  Then he listed Francis Bavier (Aunt Bee from Andy Griffith), then when he realized she was dead, he said "well, that's what the list said!"  He also picked out the same twin girls & was in shock that everone already knew about them!  A few ladies yellled out- sing Happy birthday but all he heard was Happy birthday & he made a joke, "Shaun is that you?"  Then the same request came from the other side of the theater & he said-"Shaun, I thought you were over there!"
The Greek is very strict about their seating policy, so no one from sect A could get close to the stage to shake hands at the end of the show- they barely let you move into the aisles.  It was a great show though.  It was a great way to spend a belated Happy Birthday to me!

Cheryl C
For All Cassidy Fans

I apologize for not writing sooner.  I didn't get home until 10:30 last night and was too tired to relay all the great details of our awesome adventure in L.A.!  I read the posts I missed and chatted a little bit in the Shaun room before getting some much needed make up rest. <Course I was up until the wee hours every night watching the really cool "Welcome Back Kotter" Marathon on TVLand so this was totally self induced but so worth it!>  *LOL*
As Sharry told you already it was a great time with lots of laughs that will last me a lifetime for sure! I found it so cool to talk about Shaun related things face to face with someone who would get the significance and I drove her totally nuts quoting all these Hardy Boys lines, but since I knew she could receipt the episodes verbatim too, I didn't think she would mind all that much. ;0)  The rumors are true too, I really DO talk as much as I type in real life so I'm sure I didn't disappoint her. *LOL*
Yes indeed, Map Woman is a good name for me.  I've been to Los Angeles several times, but never had to drive in it before.  I thought it would be best to be prepared knowing where we were going and thankfully I could remember my Girl Scout training and had a pretty good sense of North, South East and West.  It's easy really. If you go too far North your in the mountains, too far South and your in the Pacific Ocean. Needless to say I didn't sink the car or have it fall off a cliff unlike Thelma and Louise so I guess my direction worked out after all. *G*
The little white Ford Escort we had was perfect for us and it provided daily comic relief when I would turn on the windshield wipers every time I was putting the car in gear! <Note to self - Ford's gear shifts are on the floor, the Chrysler you drive at home is on the steering column *LOL* One good thing though, we had nice clean windows for all our drives anyway!  It was cool playing Shaun music on the car stereo everywhere we went (and some David too to get us in the mood) and hearing old interviews and stuff that I hadn't before.  The Man definitely entertained us at every corner!
The car was brand new too, only 6 miles on it when we picked it up! (Returned with 229 miles so that tells you the ground we covered in three days! *LOL*)  Only problem was it wasn't broken in yet, so it was kind of a gutless wonder going up some of those mountain roads, especially the drive up to Mulholland. This was same road our Man had to take everyday to the set of the Hardy Boys, poor guy.  Although I'm sure his BMW and Mercedes handled those corners a little better than a Ford Escort could of right? *G*
Our first night in Hollywood was cool. We walked Hollywood Blvd and took some pics of the Stars on the Walk of Fame. We never did find the star for Shirley Jones, but we knew she had one because we remember pictures of Marty sleeping on it when she threw him out! *L*  We talked about other Shaun related stars we saw though - Jack Albertson (from the Shaun special) Cloris Leechman (Breakfast with Les and Bess) and heck, even Glenn Larson himself had a star!  They should have taken it back when they realized he didn't know how to write love scenes however.  "I can't breath" is still not an answer to a marriage proposal from Shaun Cassidy - I don't care what anyone says. :0)
We found this Retro Record Store on Hollywood Blvd (not far from a store called "Trashy Lingerie" by the way, we laughed at the name)  We asked the record store manager where he kept Shaun and David Cassidy records. The manager (after saying "tsk tsk" to us) showed us his collection and there were some good records, rare ones too, only we realized they would never fit in our suitcases coming back on the airplane. Darn. Just how did people buy records in the 70's when on vacation?  I guess that is the one good thing about CD's, they will fit in your purse anyway.  I did manage to come home with some Picture Sleeve 45's of Shaun's singles. Sharry got one for free and I got a bunch really cheap since they had been through some water damage, but the records all play fine so I was happy.  We finished on the Blvd going to the famous Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum.  No Shaun or Parker in there sadly, but we did find Redford and Newman, does that count? *LOL*
Friday we decided we would make the trek to Shaun's office at Universal and deliver the Zine to him and have him buy us lunch! <well okay, just meeting him would be okay too> Oh yeah, forgot to mention we almost got us killed getting there too. You see, no map I had showed a city street that would take us to Universal, only the 101 Hollywood Freeway. Did I mention I'm a great big chicken when it comes to California freeways? Yup, call me El Pollo Loco on this one. No drivers I've ever experienced
anywhere in the world drive like CA drivers. They pass you on both sides including the shoulders, even when you are doing 65 miles an hour. (Can an escort even do 65 miles? Maybe that was the problem. :0)  You get honked at,  shouted at and I saw a grand array of middle fingers come my way.  Nicely manicured ones mind you.  And it gets better....
The on ramp merge lane we had to use has you entering the freeway IN THE FAST LANE!  Now imagine getting over 5 lanes of a packed speeding freeway in piece when you are only traveling 2 exits.  The things we do for the Man!  I vowed coming back we were going to ask someone what city street would get us back to Hollywood. (Turned out to be Highland Road also known as Cahuenga Blvd, a name I never did master the pronunciation of by the way.)  While at Universal while on the City Walk we went into the Hard Rock Hollywood store to buy some gifts for home. Guess what was playing on the store radio?  "Once Bitten Twice Shy"!  Okay, it was the Great White version, but it was cool bopping to a Shaun song while we browsed anyway. This was the first time I've heard the Great White version and sorry to say I found it a better one too.
Now about this getting past the gate thing.  I actually had no intentions of lying my way into the place. We got to the gate and asked if we had the right building to Shaun Cassidy Productions. She told us we "definitely did" so I took that to mean we were probably staring right at it. She asked us what time we were supposed to be there. I said 1:30 thinking this would be the end of it and we could right in. Well it kind of snowballed from there. She pulled up 1:30 appointments on her computer and I caught a glimpse of the names. In the P's there was something that started with PAR so the first thing that came to mind was Parker Stevenson so when she asked for a last name I said Parker. Now I thought this was going to be the end of it.  Guess I didn't see very well because the name she had was just "Park" no "er" at the end. Oh well.  I mentioned we were just trying to get to reception and security could escort us if they wanted. She still had us use the her house phone and try to get a temporary pass. Like Sharry said when Shaun's office didn't answer they told to come back in 20 minutes and try again, but we bailed. Guess I wouldn't make a very good undercover detective. And it works so well in the movies too! *LOL*
We drove through Burbank coming back and stopped at NBC to get some further directions.  We walked right in the middle of a scene of "Days Of Our Lives" and didn't even realize it!  They were filming and outdoor sequence with this fake set in front of the gift shop and Sharry and I walked right past the director like we were Steven Speilberg at his finest hour. It was too funny!  Security was nice here though and told us we could proceed so long as we were quiet and we were. We also tried to find Warner Bros. recording studio where Shaun recorded those great hits in the 70's. Our albums said the address was 3300, only its not a very big building and by the time we realized we were there I had already driven past it. Great symphony of a car horn behind us as we did too. Too bad the horn didn't sound more like "Walk Away". Would have been much more polite.
We then headed to the CBS building in Hollywood to honor our tickets for the Craig Kilborn show. We asked about "The Agency" and if the pilot was shot in that building, but they thought it was on location in another CBS location so we struck out there. Craig's sound stage is the same one Shaun was in for his Tom Snyder interview though so it had a Shaun link anyway. When we were finally seated for the show Craig Kilborn came out to meet the audience. He asked us which past guest was our favorite episode. Sharry and I both shouted out "DAVID CASSIDY". Craig had this puzzled look on his face like he didn't even remember David being on the show and it was only last week! Sharry stood up and showed him the back of her "At The Copa"
tshirt with David on the back and Craig says to us "Oh yeah....I'm stuck in the 70's too!"  We got a little red faced when the audience laughed, but it was worth it since we were in end seats an the back of our heads and clapping made it on tv quite a few times and you could definitely hear our cheers and laughter! Craig has a pretty small audience in comparison to other programs (David Letterman has 500 people in his audience, Craig has like 70) so it was cool to get so much camera time. His guest that night was Vince Vaughn who stood right beside us signing autographs in the break so that was cool too.  My VCR messed up and it didn't tape at home however, so if anyone has a copy of Friday's show I would gladly buy it from them!
After the Kilborn show we drove Santa Monica Blvd all the way to the beach  (with a slight detour to drive along Pacific Coast Hiway and see the great waves. It was dark at this point, but still cool to see the Pacific. So much prettier than the Atlantic I've always thought.) We ended up on Santa Monica pier went to Rusty's where Shaun performed a few months ago with Billy Mumy's band. The Rockinghams were playing that night and were very good. We had a front row table so we had a great view. Sharry went out to ask the door man if Shaun frequents here a lot. "Surfin USA" was playing during the break, another cool Shaun reference from my favorite first season Hardy Boys episode.  The band started playing again and I suddenly turn around see Sharry is speeding back to our table with a huge smile on her face all excited. My heart skips a beat thinking she must have just seen Shaun walk through the doors! *LOL*  Turns out the band had just started playing "It's My Life" from WASP. A great tune although I didn't recognize it since I'm sorry to say I've only listened to the WASP album once in its entirety. (Sorry Shaun. I will pull it out again one day soon since I really enjoyed the cuts Sharry played for me while we were there.)
Saturday was now our big day! We were not only going to get to see Shaun's old house, but we were going to see David in concert! WOOHOO!
Saturday Sharry and I  take a drive through Beverly Hills.  You know the expression how its not a true party till the Cops show up? Well here is where we get arrested. Okay, not really - but we did have a run in with two Beverly Hills cops who cited me with a parking ticket. (They were on bicycles too! How is this threatening? Do they pull people over by ringing the bicycle bell and carry you away to the Police station in the basket on the front of the bike? Geez, anything is possible in the Golden State I guess.)
This happened because I needed more film for my camera and I stopped on Rodeo Drive where I saw a Radio Shack. I only pulled over for 2 or 3 minutes tops in front of a meter. Sadly it happened to be a red zone too. Even though Sharry stayed near the car and told them I was just getting film and would be right back they wrote the ticket anyway. I rushed out of the store seeing them and hoping to talk my out of it telling them I am Canadian and not familiar with red zones. (Our curbs are all painted the same color up here, if you can't park somewhere there are big yellow slashes on the road that deter you)  Anyway it didn't work. The Good Cop was friendly enough and said he already wrote it so I would have to pay it now sorry. The Bad Cop said he could also
cite me a $50 fine for jaywalking since I rushed across the street to get back to the car. I played the Canadian card again and said I was sorry was just trying to get back in a hurry so I could leave. He told me to be more careful or I would end up going home in a body bag.  They get back on their bicycles and leave. The way I look at it I wasn't really that much in the hole. The ticket was for $29, but the covered parking lot next door was $20. I saved $5 on the film since it was cheaper than anywhere else so I'm really only out $4 and got to almost get arrested in Beverly Hills. What else could make for better entertainment on a trip? *G*
Back on the road we drive through the heart of Beverly Hills. We past the Beverly BMW dealership on Wilshire Blvd where Tiger Beat claimed Shaun bought his first car after his initial success. We searched for over an hour to find Beverly Hills High School. We asked 3 different people who told us the general direction and said we wouldn't miss it, but we sure didn't run across it.  Found some other schools but not the high school, it was so frustrating.  We finally gave up and found Shirley's old house in Bel Air. We took some pictures from beyond the gate among the barking dogs and sped out of there looking for her new house, the one up for sale.  We found it on a quiet street and got out to take pictures. Her gardeners were there. They were supposed to be
watering her grass but it looked more like they were washing their pick up truck.  I don't speak Spanish but I did make out the words Camera, Photos and Dames so I assume they were either laughing at us taking so many pictures, or worried we were taking pics of them slacking off on the job and were going to have them fired by mailing it to Marty Ingles! *LOL*
We made the trek up Laurel Canyon and found Shaun's old house on Mulholland. It had a long driveway which we walked up and took more pictures both here and in front of his house numbers (one of them broken) on the windy street almost getting killed again by a passing truck. Not a big shoulder here. I propped up a tree branch to get a better shot of Sharry in front of the numbers. Lots of floral stuff got in my hair, but the tree used to be Shaun's so it was worth it. *LOL*  I also snuck a picture from in between the gate post and the house. I think all I got was more trees, a pond and the back of a Suzuki but I didn't mind.  Going back to the car I picked a small pink flower from one of the bushes that I snuck back in the country to pin on my Shaun board next to my computer.  Its already shriveled and a wilted but a momento none the less.
We stopped to eat at Cantor's deli in Hollywood. What a cool place. You would think you were in a New York City deli and have to remind yourself you are on the other side of the country. Great Corn Beef sandwiches too. Sharry educated me on what an Egg Creme drink was. I had never heard of them or ever had one. After my brush with the law however, a cold Budwiser draft was my drink of choice with that meal.
We got ready for David's show and got to the Greek early. Like Sharry mentioned, they wouldn't upgrade us to the A section though and I still don't understand why either because we could see through the binoculars there were plenty of empty seats as it turned out. It was cool seeing all the people arrive and talking to David fans, long term and new ones and meeting Amy, Jake's friend from the Get Happy list who said she couldn't talk Jake into coming to the concert with her but Shaun, Susan, and Caitlin would be there.  We talked to some dudes from Star 98.5 Radio and charmed them into giving us from free tshirts and hand fans.
We asked if Danny Bonoduce would be around that night. They said he was out of town. Did anyone else hear Howard Stern this morning? He mentioned Danny was in alcohol rehab. No wonder we didn't see him. *LOL*
We saw Evelyn Ward arrive and David's daughter Katey with her mom and friends. We watched Drew Carey get out of his limo and stand in line to pick up his tickets. He liked Sharry's tshirt and complimented her on it. Amy asked to have a picture taken with him and he happily obliged. After the picture some crazed fan jumps right in front of Drew 6 inches from his face and flashes a picture. I even got annoyed, it was so intrusive. I said to Drew "Man, you must hate that" Drew just smiled and said "Naaaa, it's okay, don't mind at all."
We got to our seats and it was nice meeting Cheryl, Jennifer and Scott from the list. So cool putting faces to names you see on your computer screen!  We saw Ryan walking around talking to the crowd. The lady beside us pointed out Shaun. He looked great! We were dying for him to turn around to get a better look at his face, but saw lots of profiles and I watched him talking to Caitlin through the binoculars, it was so cute. A real Dad yet a regular guy in the crowd too. So cool.
I  bent down to tie my shoe and realized there was a wallet under the seat beside me where Cheryl had been sitting who was now moved down to the A section. Sharry and I went to return it to her and I told security we would just be a minute. They wanted to take her the wallet so I said I had message for her too. They suggested they could escort us. This was fine be me because we got within two rows of Shaun! He was sitting by himself since Susan, Caitlin and Jessica were having their picture taken with Cheryl at the time and we got a real close look at him. He couldn't have been more then 10 feet away from us, it was so cool!  Security told us it was time to go so we didn't get to stare too long but being that close was quite a thrill anyway.
David's concert was great!  He looked amazing in that blue shirt and those tight (and I mean TIGHT) black pants that were shimmering in the light. And with the binoculars they looked even better! *LOL*  The play list was a little different from Atlantic City and Laughlin since he added "Ricky's Tune" instead of "I Am A Clown" and did an encore of "Hollywood Nights" after "Cry".  He did a great job on this!  I liked it better then the Bob Seager version.  Sharry and I were bopping to all the old Partridge Family tunes again as well as stuff from David's solo career and from "At The Copa".  I must admit we spent lots of time sharing the binoculars and peeking at Shaun while listening though. *LOL* David introduced the star studded audience and we saw Sue and Beau stand up and Drew Carey and of course Shaun with his hamming it up bow! This huge applause erupts from the audience as I yell out "WE STILL LOVE YOU SHAUN".  He looks back and smiles, almost laughing. I swear he had a bet with David that he could upstage him and practically did!  David pretends to be annoyed and says "uh huh....thanks a lot bro....you are going to owe me now!" *LOL*
Also during the show David referenced Las Vegas and said how he and Shaun used to comment years ago how it was a graveyard for old talent and made a bet as to which one of them would wind up there first, picturing themselves as a mechanical billboard waving to people as they entered the city.  David said he lost the bet since Shaun came to see him last year for At The Copa and there was David on this huge billboard at the airport. *LOL*  Shaun never let him forget it either I'm sure.
During "I Think I Love You" we saw Shaun get up and make his way to the stage to throw David some flowers in jest.  We saw security escort him backstage and could see Shaun peeking through the side curtain and rubbing his hands together. I thought for sure he was going to duet with David and sing the last encore song, he almost looked that nervous. It didn't happen however but I'm sure it was a good ploy to wish David his congrats and sneak away before the packed "Meet And Greet" started.
Sharry and I found Sue and she was very grateful for the zines and the donation to Kid's Charities and hugged us both.  After the concert a pile of people were making their way into the hospitality area and there were so many people security wasn't even checking pass stickers. I was trying to blend with the crowd to see if it would carry me backstage too, but sadly I couldn't make my way to the middle and by the time the crowd weeded out, security started checking again saw I didn't have a pass.  I stood at the rope with two very drunk girls told security Ryan was in their row and told them to use his name to get in. I told one girl I came from Canada and Sharry came from Oakland to see the concert. She said hang with her and we can all get in together.  VIPs were just giving their passes away at this point so it seemed almost anyone was getting in. The drunk girls got passes too, but suddenly pretended to not know who we were when they got to go in.
We waited around the back to see if we could catch David leaving. One lady who was from England originally said she camped outside of Wembley Stadium for 3 days to see David perform in the 70's. Security told us David wouldn't be leaving for another hour or so. She said waiting an hour was nothing compared to 3 days in the pouring rain back in the 70's. After a while we saw some cars leave and some privacy windowed vans.  They told us David was in one of them so Sharry and I decided to
leave.
We walked back to the front of the theater to get our car. A smaller black car was parked up the hill on our way. I saw a guy with a great looking butt standing by the car. I would know that stance anywhere, it was DAVID himself!  He was standing outside the car, right hand on the hood, left hand on the top of the window talking to someone. We stopped just past David behind security who told us to move it along. I smiled and said "oh don't worry I won't disturb, just wanted to get a closer look."  Security was nice this time, he smiled back and said "oh I know, its okay - he's just tired is all, really needs to be on his way now." I told him "oh yes I can imagine..."
Just then Sharry's tshirt caught David's attention and he smiled at her. We waved at him and Sharry blew him a kiss.  He waved back smiling at us both. I said "Bye David, great show!"  David looked at me, right into my eyes, the reality set in and I immediately thought "holy s***....David Cassidy is looking at me and I'm practically having a conversation with him! OMG!"  So I kinda blurted out stumbling.."see you in Chicago in two....um...next....um....in August!"  With all my stumbling for words David must have picked up what I meant and gave me a big thumbs up and shouts back "All Riiiiiiiiiiiight" with that great big wonderful smile, eyes sparkling away, it was so cool!  A trip to remember for sure!
So there you have it folks, was that an adventurous few days or what? :0)  I know as usual it was too long winded and I apologize, but I thought the adventure was thrilling for a Cassidy fan to read.  I currently have my pics in for development and they are putting it on a disc for me so I will post them to a site soon so everyone can enjoy the photo essay that goes along with the story.  Should be sometime mid week.
Thanks again for everything Sharry!  You are awesome girl! ^5's! I really enjoyed our Shaun and David hunt and couldn't ask for a better partner in crime either!  ;0)   Can't wait to do it all again in Vegas in November! *WOOOHOOO*

Lynn G.

I left for Los Angeles on Thursday night after work and managed to finagle a first class seat to California......yay! Good start!
Meesh was at the airport to meet me when I arrived at 8:30 PM (early!) and it was so wonderful to see her again.  We jabbered for too many hours....getting caught up with each other and chattering about David, of course.
Meesh and I were up early the next morning watching for the FedEx guy who was delivering some better tickets I'd found on ebay.  Well he didn't come but we gave instructions to Meesh's neighbors to stand in front of the house and not let him get away without leaving the tix and hopped into Meesh's very cool Mustang back to the airport to pick up Leigh and Judi.  (Yup!  Leigh and Judi!    Me, Meesh, Leigh and Judi!!  I was a HAPPY woman!)
We watched and watched and they didn't come out....grrrrrr.  (I even trilled [shut up, Meesh...I trilled!]  down the airplane shute  "Juuuu-ddddiiii" )  Fin-allllly they came bopping out!  Blabbing of course!  There was a huge hugfest in the doorway (LMAO This, after I had just bitched to Meesh about people hugging in the entrance and blocking the people and the view!)
We went and had a laughter filled lunch......ahhh I miss you guys!!!!!   (after a looooooong trip back from the airport....helped by DC blaring in the background.  Los Angeles has LOTS of traffic...that is for SURE!)
"Meanwhile, back at the ranch..." (hee-hee.  What DOES that mean anyway!?!)  Well, it turns out that even if you have lots of dogs and lots of pet rats, you CAN be allergic to  Meesh's poor little cat (sorry Jud!  I didn't know!)   "Road trip!"   We gathered all our concert clothing, make-up and a poor oozing Judi and RUSHED our booties over to a hotel close to the Greek Theatre.  We got a lovely room, talked and laughed and dressed (oops! Sorry Meesh!!  I've always been fond of bare feet?!) for our exciting evening ahead.
I could not WAIT to see David again......it had been 3 months and I was having severe withdrawal symptoms, LOL....walking around singing "no, no, no, no, no.....TTTT-Tenderness...".  And Meesh!?  Forget it!  She hadn't seen him since January at the Rio! Yikes!!  We got all beautified......tickets? cameras? shoes?.....and set off.
Ackkkk......LA traffic bites a big one!!!!   Okay...calm, calm, calm....  We got there in plenty of time to catch up with lots of pals, to wave to others across the way and to have a drink to calm our nerves.  We didn't sit for the comedian....we schmoozed with other schmoozers......"Hi guys!".....and went in just before the show began.
David came running out singing "Heartbeat" and looking absolutely magnificent and the crowd went wild!  (Those pants are a delicious new addition to the act, I might add.  "Welcome pants!  Welcome!"   LMBFAO   I may have been fond of the old pleated guys, but by the time the show was over, well let's just say I had forgotten alllllll about them!)   He wore my favorite royal blue shirt.....mmmm...fabulous!  He just stood out on that stage in all his glory.....I swear he OWNED it........he was 7 feet tall!  His voice was so rich and warm and he looked SO happy.......ahhh it was just wonderful.  I loved knowing his family was all there being so proud and he was so glad they were all there and we were all there.......very cool.....just very, very cool.  (BTW   Tenderness did NOT suffer because of the tight pants....no, no, no, no, no!   That man, he SURE can move, he can!   And might I say that "River Deep" was only enhanced by the pants, LOL.  Truly, truly enhanced!)
You've heard everything from everyone else so I won't go into those details.   He was really talkative and funny......I think he enjoyed himself.  Ahhhh......Hollywood Nights was soooooo great.  Especially knowing the song was so true for him, you know?  You could tell he was really got into the lyrics and that made it even more special. (at one point after a lyric about friends he said "right Sam?"  Wonder if he was there?)   Believe me, it will never sound the same by anyone else after hearing him sing it.....I loved it.
So the show ended....sigh (though he DID sing Cry which helped soften the blow, LOL).  And then the time came..........
Oh yeah......did I forget to mention that I won a Meet and Greet?  Heee heee heee......I did!!!  I did!!!!  I knew before I left Boston that Meesh had, but me..!!???!!!     Ackkkkkk.......thank God I only found out the night before because I would have had a haht attack and died had I known sooner!    Now I am not often fond of the whole M&G thing......but.  LOL   But.  Somehow being one who was actually going to DO it....well, now I HAD to didn't I?!   And he did have only one show that night and he didn't look tired (he looked perfect!!!!!!) so I didn't feel any remorse, LOL.  (Funny how you can get selfish like that ain't it!?!)
Judi and Leigh had entered the M&G greet too, though they had decided not to go to LA because life was just too hectic at their end and their original seats weren't very good.  Since they won however, and since Meesh and I already had good seats and had managed to purchase better seats, they snagged some last minute airline tix, Judi conquered her air fear (heeee amazing what a chance to say "hello" to David can make you do huh?!) and they popped on over to LA!!  Yahoo!
Sooooo......     We all get in the back room and line up and then.....there he is.  Sigh...    We were way at the end of the line so I just watched him and watched him and watched him.  Damn......he looked good.  And he is just soooooo nice!  He took so much time with people.....I don't think he was supposed to because they had told us he ran late, but he did.  And they told us no autographs because of time, but he never scolded anyone who asked.  He gives us so much and he never complains even when people ask for more.  He truly is a gracious, gracious man.
Meesh went ahead of me.......thank you, Meesh!  Finallllly, my turn came.  (which was unfortunate, because I had still not thought of anything witty or original to say.  A total blank.  Me....old big mouth...speechless?  Go figure!   Shut up, June!)    So I walk up to him and I whisper my name. (duh)  Of course he can't hear me, so he asks my name and I tell him and he takes my hand and says "Hello, Janie".   So then......(shoot me now!)  I KEEP his hand (it's not my fault...I barely remember it!) and I fold it into both of mine and since I'm looking into his eyes, I cannot speak.....though I think he sees that I want to and waits so patiently.  The woman taking pictures tells us to turn forward, so we do.....me still clutching his POOR hand in both of mine.  Now I'm not looking at him so I can speak and I say "Thank you for so many wonderful, WONDERFUL years, David."  (ackk! original huh?!)  Now while she is taking the pic, I am fully aware that I am talking and that this is not the best idea photo-wise, but I can't help it....none of this was on purpose, LOL.  It just ......happens!
This beautiful man turns back to me after the pic is taken and either I finally let go, or he manages to extricate his poor hand....I don't remember which.... and he looks into my eyes and says......so personally, you know?  Like he'd really listened to me and didn't just say a generic "thanks".....he said "Well, thank you VERY much for saying that.   Really. It means a lot."   Sigh.  And then (I'm sure he thinks I am a lunatic) I just STARE into his eyes.....trying to take in enough of them so I WILL remember later, I guess (they were so warm....and light brown.....must have been the light shirt.  DAMNED gorgeous!)  so I'm staring and all of a sudden.....LOL, well I just couldn't anymore.  I got all flustered and looked down and then I scooted away.  Fast!   LMAO....I am such a goof!  I'm sure the whole thing took like a minute and a half but it felt like half an hour!  (And I swear I heard him chuckle as I RUSHED away.)
Well, it may not sound like the smoothest most wonderful experience in the world, but to me it was PERFECT!  (okay...except for what I said and what I did! LMAO!!  Other than that, it was perfect!)
Judi and Leigh saw him next.  Unfortunately, I was off somewhere in a cloud and I didn't see them.   The last few of us were being ushered out through the hallway....it took a minute because we were all excited and talking.... and he walked by us and waved and said something.  I forget what, LOL.  "Goodnight ladies.  Thanks for coming to my show!" or something like that.  (Hell, all I could think was "That's him.  That's the guy that was on my walls!!! ")   If I am ever lucky enough to meet him again though?  I am going to speak intelligently and be normal.  I shall be witty and charming, damnit.  I mean it!  (I'd better practice, huh?! ha-ha)
So that is my story, such as it is.  It was a wonderful, magical night that I'll never forget.

Janie

Hi all,

I finally have a moment to write about my experience at the Greek!! I've been savoring the memories all week, but now I'm ready to share with you all, especially since Janie has shared too, and I know some of you might be anxious to hear--LOL.  I'll try not to duplicate Janie's story too much, OK?
I picked Janie up on Friday night, (not Thursday night....Janie you've lost track of time you GOOF--LOL) the first of my 4 trips in 4 days to the airport--OY. LOL  We had a great time laughing and getting re-acquainted--I hadn't seen her since January, it was great!
On Saturday morning, while we were waiting for Mr Fedex, I went online to check ticket availabiltiy, just in case. Imagine my surprise when it popped up with a 2nd row pit ticket for sale!! I bought it of course, although it meant eating the row L ticket I had already--who cares? I got in the pit!!
And the afternoon before, on Friday, I finally got the notification that I had won a meet/greet!! (they went out really late...lots of people found out at he last minute it seems) YIIPEEE!! I called Janie immediately of course and caught her before she left,
to tell her she could be my guest since you get 2 passes...little did I know she was going to win one too!  I was so nervous, what would I say? What would I wear?  Such a dilemma!! LOLOL
Fast forward to later at the hotel after we picked up the gals. Poor Judi was recovering from being catified (sorry Judi) and we were hurrying to get dressed and be beautiful, and I open my bag, and what ho?? Where are my boots? ARRRGGGGG, in my  rush to get out of the house, I had packed everything but. ---I had a lovely skirt and nice top, but no  shoes except the sneakers
I already had on. ---NOOOOOOO-I'm meeting David and I HAVE NO SHOES--we were too far from home for me to go back,
so I went in search of ashoe store. No luck...nothing in the near vicinity of the hotel....DAMN!!
Well, Judi came to the resuce with an adorable pair of strappy flat sandals (Thank you Judi). So what if they are a 7--or was it 8? And I wear a 5 -- LOL -- they didn't look too bad, and they actually stayed on when I walked. OK--crisis averted. whew!
We got to the theatre and I went and found my seat, soooo close to the stage, on the right side. YAY -- I saw MacKenzie in the "lobby" where everyone was chatting away, ....and it turned out she and her friend were sitting right next to me!! (HI Mac)!!
Janie, Judi and Leigh were sitting near me, so I could wave to them...and the concert was fabulous as you've already heard! Yes, the jeans are waaay better than the pleated pants, and he was as wonderful as everyone has said! He was having a great time up there!
OK---the show was over, and this was it---OMG, I suddenly became very quiet and nervous. Jeez, I was finally going to meet him! The room was small, and we spent the whole time in line just looking at him, watching him with everyone and getting closer and closer....Janie made me go first!! I didn't want to--LOL But suddenly there I was, and he was taking my hand and asking my name. He spoke very softly, and kindly, and he was soooooo beautiful. His hands were very warm...a good warm, not sweaty. They were just like warm towels just out of the dryer. Very comforting. SIGH.
I said something stupid about trying all day to think of something to say to him, but couldn't....and he said, "You don't have to say anything, just stand there and look pretty."  OMG! David just told me I was pretty---he turned me toward the camera and put
his arm around me, and I have no recollection of this at all, but the girls say he put his other arm around me and touched my elbow, like in an embrace. I suppose I'll find out when I get the pic back!! (um... are those developed yet?)
Then it was over, and we were ushered out and I don't remember what exactly he said as he was leaving, but he did say goodnight and thanked us...I think --
Well, that's it, of course we didn't sleep hardly at all that night. We went back to our hotel and sat up eating potato chips and cookies and gabbing. The next day we took Leigh and Judi back to the airport, and Janie and I went back to my house. On Monday morning I took Janie back to the airport, and it was over....SNIFF.....but it's OK--we'll see each other soon, since I'm going to Chicago!!
It was a wonderful weekend...that's for sure. I'll never, ever forget it.

Love and miss you girls!!
Meesh

I went to David's concert at the Greek Theatre last week.  We had something to do in L.A. in the afternoon and arrived at the hotel later than we had planned.  Then the man at check-in said he is moving us to another hotel that they own a couple of blocks away.  I'm not sure why.  The room was fine, it just made me get to the theater later than I wanted to.  We grabbed some fast
food and I only ate half of it and left to go to the concert.  I was supposed to be in section A, row K, seat 34.  I asked at the box office if they had anything closer and I was able to get section A, row D, seat 21.  I said a quick hello to some friends before going to my seat.  I was eyeing some seats in the row in front of me when the comedian was on and thought about moving there during the intermission.  Then an usher came walking in with Sue and showed her the seats!  She nodded and walked away.  Then Katie and 4 of her friends came in and sat there!  It's a good thing I didn't steal her seats after all!  Ryan was toward the back of section A and kept going up to see her and bringing her to where he was sitting to chat.  I was tempted to take their picture but didn't want to bother them.  During intermission I was walking around and ran into a friend who said she was in the front row of the pit and had an extra ticket and asked if I wanted to sit with her!  Of course I did!!!  I saw Shaun in section A and decided to take a non-flash picture of him from a distance.  It was very dark, so it may not come out.  Then the usher said that I had to turn in my camera to someone in the lobby.  I told him it was announced we could take non-flash pictures and the camera did not have a flash on it.  He said I had to turn it in because it was a professional camera.  That was silly because it's not a professional camera so I just walked away from him.  I saw Evelyn and Sue talking in the aisle. The concert was great.  David sang "Ricky's Tune" and ended with "Hollywood Nights".  He sang "C'Mon Get Happy" and talked about how people would always come up to him and sing the song and he thought they were on crack because he only sang it once and didn't remember it.  Then someone said "Sing it!"  Then he said "I just did!"  David said he was flying to London the next day to work on his CD.  I brought my son, Michael to the airport that day and was wondering what time David was there.  Of course I didn't see him.  He announced about Evelyn, his kids, Shaun, Ryan, and Drew Carey being in the audience.  The fans screamed so much for Shaun.  He said he and Shaun would
wonder in the past as to which one of them would end up in Las Vegas.  A lot of fans brought roses up to David or put them on the stage if he didn't seem them and the usher told the fans to go back to their seats.  Even Shaun brought a rose up to David but David was looking the other direction and didn't see him and Shaun ran back to his seat!  I'm glad David wore different clothes this time.  He looked great in the blue shirt and then the black sequined shirt and black jeans.  Wednesday I leave for a trip to Michigan to see my husbands relatives and pick up Michael from camp and then go to New Jersey to see my mother and see David in Westbury!

Cassidy Cherishes the Memories

"Where were you in the summer of '72?" asked "Partridge Family" teen dream and modern Las Vegas star David Cassidy at the Greek Theatre on Saturday, evoking his heyday during his first concert tour in more than a decade.
Today, the erstwhile boy of the moment was still in fine voice, no longer shaggy-headed and bell-bottomed like his TV-character-turned-pop-star, but sleek in tight black trousers and moving with theatrically exaggerated precision. Yet the singer-guitarist's twinkling blue eyes and high-wattage grin had the same giddy effect on the mostly middle-aged fans.
A potent reminder that each generation's idols endure in some way, the show was an often surreal combination of nostalgia trip and Vegas revue. Cassidy, 51, and his band offered oldies, including "Cherish" and the bouncy "I Think I Love You," which had as much goofy appeal as ever. However, selections from his various stage shows were more like a cheery homage to
iconic moments, such as Otis Redding's rendition of "Try a Little Tenderness" rather than actual performances.
Still, Cassidy's self-deprecating asides revealed a disarming sense of humor about it all. And why not? By translating his youthful persona into similar, grown-up entertainment, he's become a surprisingly durable throwaway.

Report from two TV appearances:

I went to the TV tapings of "Craig Kilborn" and "Politically Incorrect".  I drove 700 miles in two days!  I drove down to LA by myself with the baby.  It was difficult to find a babysitter because most of the child care places won't watch someone temporarily (while at a TV taping).  I finally had someone lined up and just before I left she called to cancel because she said she forgot she had an appointment!  Anyway, it all worked out fine in the end.
I ended up leaving 1 1/2 hours later than I had planned because I forgot to bring the breast milk for baby David so I had to go back home.  I got to the TV station early enough anyway.  I found another David fan I know named Glynnis and we talked all about David while waiting in line.  When I called up for the ticket, I asked how to get in the front row.  The man told me there are only three rows and if I got there early I would be in the front row.  That was all wrong!  There are 8 or 9 rows and I got there early, but they put me in the back!  They put the people in front of me in the front (although not in order) and then put Glynnis and I in the back.  The people in line behind us were put in all different places.  We couldn't figure out their logic.  Then there was a big TV camera right in front of the chair that David sits in so I thought I wouldn't be able to see him at all.
Fortunately, when he came out they moved the camera out of the way so I had a great view of him!  The black & white publicity picture that they showed at the beginning when they announced him was setting on a table over to the side.  I won't go into what he said on the show since most of you have seen it.
During commercials he danced a little to the music.  During the show he said, "Drinks for everybody in the house are on me."  During one of the breaks he came into the aisle (I was second in from the aisle) and talked about giving out the beer to everyone.  Then at the end of the show he gave out the beer.  They aired a few seconds of it and I can see myself in the audience.  He probably gave out about a dozen beers or so and he only went up that one aisle, so I was lucky I was so close to that aisle!  To make sure he gave me a beer, I held up an 8X10 of him that I brought with me and he came up to me and gave me such a wonderful, happy look.  I think he said "Whoaaa!" I'm not sure if he said anything else but he gave me a beer!  I guess I should put it in a display case because HE touched it!  LOL
The ushers gave everyone in the audience either a beer, bottled water, or soda when the audience left.  But I'm glad it was handed to me by David himself.  I then picked up baby David at the babysitter's and drove down to San Diego that night!  I had an appointment with him at a clinic the next morning that deals with Down syndrome and seizures so I thought I would combine this with the trip to see the other David at the tapings.  After the appointment I drove back up to Hollywood to maybe see David come out of the taping he was doing of "Woman 2 Woman".  I would have made it but I had so much traffic when I got to LA that I got there too late.  Then when I watched my tape, I discovered that he wasn't even on it!
I went to the taping of "Politically Incorrect" and got there early.  I discovered that the people who call in for tickets are placed on the sides behind the guests.  The people who have actual tickets that they picked up at the studio are in front of Bill Maher but they are further away.  I was in the front row on the end.  I was directly behind David.  It would have been nicer to see the front of his face, and if I hadn't have gotten out of line to go to the bathroom, I would have been on that side instead.  But even though I was behind him, I was closer to him that anyone else in the audience and I had a great view of the back of his head!  During a commercial break David actually turned around to look at the audience behind him.  I smiled, waved, and said hi!  He smiled,
waved, and said hi back!!!  If I had been in front of him, he never would have noticed me because I would have been too far away.  I noticed that of all the guests, he is the only one who looked at the audience during the breaks.  Because they don't tape the show on Fridays, we had to watch another taping so I will be in tonight's audience too.
After the first show's taping, I decided to go to the bathroom.  I assumed David went to the left in the hallway to leave so that he wouldn't run into people.  When I got to the hallway I turned right and went to the bathroom.  When I came back, David was
in the hallway coming toward me!!!  Well, I couldn't pass up this opportunity!  Sue was walking in front of him by herself and David was walking with some other men.  Someone said something about Ryan to him.
Then when he got to me, I said "Hi David.  I'll be seeing you at the Greek Theatre and at Westbury!"  He said "Hi.  Great!  Good to see you.  Thanks for coming."  He didn't really stop, he just slowed down.  I didn't want to ask to take his picture or get an autograph because I don't think it was really the place for that since they probably don't want fans in the hallway.  David was probably thinking "I can't get rid of her.  She left the taping to wait for me in the hallway!"  But it really wasn't planned.  I'm glad I got to talk to him even though it was short.  Then I went back to the taping the next night's show.  At the end they announced Donny Osmond would be there Monday.  Too bad he wasn't there for the one I saw.
I watched my tape and I can see myself to the left of David when they show the close-ups of David.  I watched my tape of "Craig Kilborn" and my annoying Dish Network satellite dish went blank for a full 60 seconds when David was on so I don't have that part on tape.  Too bad it didn't happen when the other guest was on instead.  I made it home at about 11:00 last night.

And another TV appearance:

Ok girls, I can hold off no longer.  I just got in from the most amazing day of my life. First off let me say that the reason we said nothing about today's adventure was that we were not sure if it was going to happen, and if it did exactly what would happen.  As it was the tickets only arrived this morning after we found out the stunning news about the Uk tour dates!!!!
So, Gill, Gail and myself have these tickets for a recording of part of a TV show, David is appearing with the current latest pop group in the UK, Hearsay.  We have tickets to see David film his segment only.
We arrived at the studio in Wembley at about 11.45, doors are due to open at about 1.45.  There is already a queue of mainly 12-15 year olds, with a few older women.  We parked ourselves on the ground and prepared to wait.  Gail got the coffees.  We were very down after the news on the UK dates and worried that David may not show.
Some of you will have seen the t-shirt that Gail wore to AC, Gill and I had similar shirts with the message "DAVID CASSIDY ROCKS MY WORLD".  I can't believe this but we sat in the queue and changed into our new shirts.
We chatted about our DC experiences, this was the first time that Gail and I had met Gill.  She's a riot!!!!!
At 1.45 we stood up and started to form an orderly line.  We chatted to some young Hearsay fans who asked us about our t-shirts as they had never heard of David Cassidy!!!!!!!  They know who he is now!!!!!
At 2.15 we started getting twitchy as this was half hour late.  All of a sudden we started to go in.  Did I mention that we had brought red roses for David.  We had enclosed a personal message. We asked at the door if  we could give the flowers to David, they showed us to seats at the  front on the side.  This was a very small audience and we were asked to make as much noise as possible.  Two of the crew took the roses and promised to tell David where they came from.  We chatted to some young fans sat behind us who also admired our t-shirts.  We told them about David and showed them some pics, they were very impressed.
Hearsay came on and the teen idol of the group Noel came right over to us and read the t-shirts, asking how long we had been fans!!!!!!!  Then..............................

..........Then David came on, now remember I haven't seen David live for 16 years.  I wasn't prepared for the shock.  I have never seen him up close.
He is so much better than I ever expected!!!!!!!!!  We gave him a tumultuous welcome.  Noel straight away pointed us out and he came over, he read the shirts and Gail reminded him where he had seen hers before.  I am sure he remembered!!!!!  As he walked away, he looked back and said.  "I'll sign them at the end!"
Then he sang solo "Ain't no Sunshine" fabulous,  after the first take they wanted another.  he looked at us and said, "Did that suck?"  As if.
He made lots of small talk in-between takes and chatted with us. I will  let the others tell you some stuff.  The DC fog is very bad.  Then he sang "Could It Be Forever" with the group, their voices blended very well with his.  Again only two takes, what a professional.
So after he finished his bit he came over to us, he talked about the UK tour and how sorry he was.  We told him about our future trips.
Then he ran around looking for a pen for the promised shirt signing.  He signed Gills first and commented on her ample chest.  Then he kissed her cheek, (Gill fill them in on detail).  Then he signed my right boob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And moved onto Gail,  well I wasn't gonna let him get away with that!!!!!  Kissing Gill and not me, so brazen hussy that I am, c'mon its been sixteen years, I asked him if I would get one.  Sure!!!!!!
He finished Gail's shirt and came back and kissed my cheek. I can still feel the kiss.  He smelled gorgeous, even though he had been complaining about sweating!!!!!!!  I held his arm, wonderful biceps, as he bent down to kiss me.
He spent some time chatting with he rest of the audience, giving autographs, the young girls behind us were besotted by now, we did warn them!!!!
As he left he looked over to us and blew us a kiss. God I love him!!!!!!!
Gill, Gail, I know I've missed loads out, thanks for letting me have my moment of glory.  And for letting me have the signed photo.

Tina

He sang,'Could it be Forever' with Hearsay!!! It was amazing hearing that for the first time in years.
I told the girl in Hearsay that they should record it with him and that they'd get a number one record there, she was impressed, the guy in Hearsay, Noel I think his name is, he's the current Brit Heartthrob pinup at the moment, nah whatever, he was so amazed that we'd been fans for 30 years, he said I hope I've still got fans like you after 30 years. They were in awe of him, God they looked the same age!!! Even the teenys sat behind us were saying OMG he's great you were right about his eyes!!! When
David was chatting to me during one of the breaks the girls were listening and he said Hi there girls, they said can we have your autograph, you'r great, and I said, see David we've converted them they are your fans now. Gosh did he laugh!!! Oh I could chat for ages but bugger I've got a little hiccup like work today, see you later
