Lynn G. met Donny Osmond recently, and this is her story:

<Donny Osmond exits thru the stage door to awaiting fans. He starts to sign autographs.  Lynn and her friend Sandra (a life long Donny Osmond fan) are in front and handing Playbills to him telling him what a great show it was>

Sandra:  Excellent show Donny, really enjoyed it!
Lynn:  Yes, it was great hearing the old songs again!
Donny:  <smiling as he is looking down autographing>  Thanks very much! Glad you
liked it.  It's been years since I sang some of those songs, the hardest part for me was learning the words all over again. <laughter>

<Donny hands Sandra's Playbill back to her, she hands Donny a 1978 Tiger Beat with Donny as the centerfold>

Donny: <in somewhat surprise>  WOW, you kept this all these years? <smiling>
Sandra: Oh yes, I've been a fan for along time. I was even the President of your fan club in Yorkshire England before I moved to Canada when I was 12.
Donny: (while signing the Tiger Beat)  Oh that's wonderful, England is great. I
always enjoyed playing there. (hands Tiger Beat back to her)  So what made you
keep that copy all these years?
Sandra:  Well Lynn and I (pointing to me beside her) used to save our allowances
and share copies as they came out monthly.  I only got to keep this one because
you were the centerfold and not Shaun Cassidy who she used to have over her bedroom walls!  <laughter>
Lynn: (blushing) oh but I liked you too Donny, I never missed your show on tv then! It was a staple in my Friday night tv lineup for sure!  And I saw you in "Joseph" here in Toronto 3 times when you were here a few years ago.
Donny: (teasing) oh sure, sure, you say that now, but I know you liked Shaun better than me, cmon just admit it.  <laughter>
Lynn: Naaaaa, vicious rumor, honest.  Shaun doesn't perform anymore anyway, I think its great you are back on tour again! (blushing and smiling)
Donny: Shaun put on a great show in the 70's too. Did you catch him on the Donny and Marie show when he appeared in 78?
Lynn:  Uh no, I think I missed that one.
Donny:  Well that's because Shaun never did my show!  <laughter>
Lynn:  (more blushing) well thats good cuz I am sure I saw all of your shows, I never missed it!
Donny:  Did you know David Cassidy is back on tour now too?
Lynn:  Yes, in fact I am going to see David in two weeks in Los Angeles when he performs at the Greek Theatre there. (slight groan from the crowd)
Donny: (more teasing) Oh sure, you will fly 3000 miles to see David but have to wait till I get to your home town to see me huh? Okay, I understand now. (smiling)
Lynn: (shyly) well its really only because David isn't stopping here on tour and
I was hoping to see the new Disneyland too.
Donny: Oh David doesn't know what he is missing, Toronto is great. I loved
living here when I was in "Joseph". We lived in Mount Pleasant not far from here.
Lynn: Oh yeah I know where that is, I have relatives in North York, nice area.
Donny: Well I'm sure you will enjoy David's show too, he told me he is really having a good time with it. Have a safe trip. (to the crowd) Thanks for coming tonight everyone, I have to be on my way now. See you next time!

(Donny makes his way thru the crowd and to his awaiting limosine waving to all of us as we call out "Night Donny - thanks for the autographs"

I was actually surprised at how chatty Donny was, and especially about the Cassidys!

David Forced To Cancel UK Tour

David Cassidy Never Committed to UK Tour With WAM Management

(Los Angeles, July 30, 2001) Multi-platinum recording artist David Cassidy is putting to rest a rumor that he will be performing in the UK on a tour promoted by WAM Management. Cassidy has no management relationship whatsoever with WAM despite advertising to the contrary. Cassidy says, "I never committed to these dates. They were booked and advertised without my knowledge or consent, and with absolutely no contractual or verbal agreements."

Once he learned of the dates, he tried to make them work, but there were points that could not be resolved. "I apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment to my fans," he continued, "but be assured that I will be doing some dates in England, as promised, in conjunction with the release of my new Universal CD, Then and Now, in October." Dates will be announced shortly.

Cassidy was sure to note that he has confirmed that the dates booked by WAM are fully bonded and he has been assured that all tickets purchased will be fully refunded.

David Cassidy Plans New Album

One-time teen heartthrob David Cassidy will release his first album on a major label in 11 years this October with Universal Records U.K.'s "Then and Now." Cassidy, who is now signed to Universal worldwide, says that while a U.S. release has not yet been secured, he's hoping it will happen in 2002.

Cassidy's last album, "Old Dog New Trick," came out on his own label, Slamajama, in 1998. It featured the track "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross," which reached No. 23 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. Prior to that was 1990's "David Cassidy," released on Enigma Records. Hit single "Lyin' to Myself" was No. 27 on The Billboard Hot 100 when the Capitol-distributed label folded.

After that disappointment, Cassidy focused on the stage, including stints in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Blood Brothers" on Broadway with his brother Shaun. In the mid-'90s, Cassidy replaced Michael Crawford in the Las Vegas show "EFX." His success there led to two other Vegas shows, "At the Copa" (with Sheena Easton), in which he performed as well as produced, and "The Rat Pack is Back," which he produced.

It was during the run of "At the Copa" that Universal came calling. "They came to see the show eight or nine months ago," Cassidy says. "They said, 'No one has your material in the U.K.,' and I said, 'We can do something about that.'" The album will consist of new material that Cassidy has written (in some cases, with his wife, songwriter Sue Shifrin), his take on some classic tunes, such as Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," and remakes of some Partridge Family songs.

Cassidy is on his first U.S. tour in 10 years and will play more than 50 dates before the current leg ends in the fall. He plans to tour England in November and possibly follow with his first tour of the Far East in 25 years.

His U.S. dates included a July 21 show at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre that left him glowing. "The audience wasn't jaded at all; they were overtly enthusiastic," Cassidy reports. "I just wanted to go out and play and have a great time and celebrate the fact that I've been doing this for 30 years. I love that they were so open."

David Cassidy Offers $50,000 Reward For Lost Family Ring

(7/11/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- Former teen idol and Partridge Family star David Cassidy has offered a $50,000 reward for the return of a ring given to him by his father. The ring holds special sentimental value to the singer--it depicts the Cassidy family crest, and it was given to David, the eldest of actor Jack Cassidy's four sons, when he turned 21. It is inscribed with a personalized message, and each of the other Cassidy boys--Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan--had one given to them by their father as well. David's mother is actress Evelyn Ward, while actress Shirley Jones--who played David's mother on The Partridge Family television series--is the mother of his brothers.

David is reportedly heartbroken over the loss. He is currently on his first tour in more than a decade and he believes he lost the ring at some point during his travels, or that it was taken from a dressing room. Cassidy was hoping to pass it on to his 10-year-old son, Beau, when he becomes an adult. David's father Jack died in a tragic house fire in 1976, at the age of 49. (Yahoo! News)

This is a message from For All Cassidy Fans:

Ebay Warning for David Cassidy Fans

There is a seller with a history of selling counterfeit photos one again trying to sell to Cassidy fans.  The last time I heard of them was when I personally had to get involved.  A fan bought a Ryan photo (supposed to be an 8x10 glossy) from them and received a very poor counterfeit photo.  Indeed it was a very poor *photocopy* where the black ink easily rubbed off on your hands!  They refused to answer her e-mails and then were rude, insisting that it was authentic.  I had to get involved and threaten them with legal action to get her money back.  Needless to say, while I'd go to the mat for any of you, I'd prefer none of you had to go through that kind of experience at all.  So, please be careful.  The name of the seller is BABY JANE OF HOLLYWOOD or BABYJANEOFHOLLYWOOD.

Thanks, everyone!  Michele

Jack Cassidy needs your help!

Talent alone doesn't win a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  There is a hefty $15,000 price-tag.  So, as we prepare his nomination, we also have to raise the funds to make the dream a reality - and we need everyone's help!

Our first fund drive is an online auction of Cassidy-related items.  Its success depends on YOU.

1) We need item donors!  Several fans have generously donated items from their collections but we could ALWAYS use more and every donation moves us closer to our goal.  Do you have duplicates in your collection?  Please consider donating one!  We are accepting items until September 1, 2001.  Possible items: Magazines, clippings, photos, videos, LPs, CDs, lunchboxes - ANYTHING YOU CAN SPARE!  We will openly recognize your generosity on our virtual Wall of Thanks!  (The current auction list is at http://rcassidypage.tripod.com/auction.html)

2) Promote us!  Post our banner on your site, mention us in chatrooms, discussion lists, message boards, written newsletters, in the signature file of your e-mail account, to pen pals or even in person!  Remember, some items might appeal to other fans, such as Osmond fans!  This auction is unaffiliated with E-bay so we're depending on word-of-mouth.  Please let us know if you promote us because we will also openly recognize you, promote your site (newsletter, etc), display your banner - whatever we can do to thank you in return!

3) Bid!  Bid often!  Bid generously!  Minimum bids will be kept low and there will be no reserve prices.  There are already **autographed items** and there will be items donated by Cassidy family members!  Just remember where the money goes!  It's a very worthy cause!  Not online or not online that much?  No problem!  The item list will be available at least a month in advance and we will accept mail-in bids to a certain date!  We're offering quite a few rare items and this is an excellent way to build a collection!

Contact Michele Montour (webmaster@ryancassidy.zzn.com) if you have questions, wish to donate or receive updates (including the item list and dates).

I know we all hate chain letters, but please consider the easiest form of promotion and FORWARD this message to at least 5 people!  Help us be a part of Cassidy history!

Thank you!

Michele Montour

On BBC Prime (UK/Europe): David Cassidy: Teenage Dream
(Documentary)
Time - 20:00 to 21:00 (1 hour long).
When - Thursday 19th July on BBC Prime
Documentary charting the rise and fall of teen idol David Cassidy, from his big break in 'The Partridge Family' and a string of hit singles to his retirement from showbiz at the age of 24. Featuring Cassidy himself, as well as contributions from close relations and friends.

David Cassidy: Teen Dream

He may not be remembered much now in pop circles, but David Cassidy was a big money earner back in the '70s.

When ABC cast David Cassidy as its juvenile star in popular ‘70s show, The Partridge Family, it launched one of the most spectacular careers in the entertainment industry. From television to record breaking concert tours, Cassidy has made his mark and been lauded accordingly.

As lead vocalist with The Partridge Family, Cassidy was responsible for seven chart-topping singles, including: Doesn’t somebody Want To Be Wanted, I Woke Up In Love This Morning, Breaking Up Is Hard To Do and of course, I Think I Love You, the best selling record of 1971.

This film features archive footage, new interviews with Cassidy and his sometime Partridge Family co-stars and tributes from celebrity fans.

Hailing from a family of actors, mother Evelyn Ward and father Jack Cassidy, his fate as a performer was essentially seeded at a young age. It was by coincidence that he wound up starring with stepmother Shirley Jones in the astonishing success The Partridge Family.

Before the end of 1970, the year the show premiered, David graced every teen magazine cover in the world, had the number one selling single of the year, and garnered multiple Grammy nominations and won a Golden Apple Award. Over the next five years, his official fan club grew to become the largest in history, exceeding those of Elvis Presley and the Beatles.

Those were only the first of many records Cassidy broke in his long and constantly evolving career. He became the first personality to be merchandised globally. His likeness appeared on everything from posters to lunch boxes and cereal boxes. His concerts sold out in the largest arenas and stadiums in the world, which led him to be the world’s highest paid performer at the age of 21. He broke box office records at Melbourne’s Cricket Grounds, London’s White City Stadium, Houston’s Astrodome and New York’s Madison Square Garden.

To date, his records have sold over 25 million copies world-wide and have been recognised with eighteen gold and platinum recordings including four consecutive multi-platinum LP’s.

Although he also had several solo top 40 hits, his musical career began to fizzle by the mid '70s and he devoted the late '70s and early '80s to acting.

According to  TV Times the British band Hearsay are due to start recording their TV show, it's going to be a chat show with music and David is due to be a guest on the show , it starts airing in August, so keep checking the TV guides.
