JUNE 8 (METROPOLIS, ILLINOIS)
Hi all
Well, I went to David's concert in Metropolis last night and wow, David
was great! The audience was kind of boring. After he started
singing the first song a few dozen women grouped around the stage and he
did shake some of their hands throughout the evening. But for the
most part there wasn't any screaming, swooning women. We were seated
about 15 rows back on the left
aisle. I felt kind of shy about going up to the stage at first but
when David launched into Heartbeat, (I'm not sure if that's the name of
the song, sorry David fans) I had to go up there. After that I ran
back and forth quite a few times. They let me take my camera in so
I hope my pictures turn out. It's only a fixed focus 35mm, so I know
the first few pics from 15 rows back probably won't look too good but the
ones I took closer to the stage should be okay. He sang Cherish,
and he did this bluesy kind of thing when he introducing the band, it was
really cool. I didn't know some of the songs but I still had a great
time. I boogied in my seat a bit, and did a bit of yelling and screaming.
I didn't do too much. I was with Kevin and he was already feeling
weird being at a
David concert so I felt obligated to control myself. (sigh) Boy
I wish some of you guys had been there. Then I could have really cut loose.
LOL Anyway Kevin enjoyed the concert too. He said he was kind
of surprised it wasn't pop music from hell and I told him of course it
was a good concert. David is a Cassidy after all. He finished
the concert with I Think I Love You, which I had already guessed that would
be his closing song. Then he did one encore. I didn't hang
around because we had an hour drive and six kids to get back too, but it
was a lot of fun. David had a great sense of humor and we laughed
quite a bit at his stories. At one point he pulled over a stool and
sat down but he couldn't loosen the mic stand enough to shorten it, so
he made a joke about that what happens when you're short and 98 lbs. weakling.
It was pretty funny. Well I hope to have my pics back by the end
of the week and I'll definitely post them the first chance I get.
