I met Teresa and her friend in Clearwater, we had a blast! We got a pic of David getting out of the limo I yelled David and he turned around and waved at me and said hello. Teresa and I were the only ones there because we got there so early, it was cool. The concert was great, but he had this guy on first I didn't think he was very funny, I just wanted to see David. During the concert someone yelled out "I want to rub your head" and David said "which one?" LOL I can't believe he said that."America the Beautiful" was chilling. He was tired but in good voice. After the concert Teresa and I snuck in the "meet and greet" line. They let about one third of the line in then a security guard came out and said David left. Damm! That's the closest I ever got to meeting him. See ya all in AC
A comedian from the Florida area opened for David. I can't remember his name. He was very funny!! He did a lot of wife & kid jokes. Probably because the audience was 98% women!! LOL A very rude woman right behind me yelled at him to "hurry up & get off the stage". Very rude!! He told her that David was busy getting ready for us and it takes some time!! Don't rush him!! LOL He told a few more jokes & said "the air was getting moist..... it was time for David"!! :) As you have seen in my pics, he came out with his black & silver shirt & black pants. He said "the air did feel moist" and thanked the comedian for priming us!! He sang I CAN FEEL YOUR HEARTBEAT, SUMMER DAYS & MEET YOU HALFWAY. He said he has been walking around with a heavy heart for the last month and thanked us for being there. He spoke about being so proud to be an American and "for the next few moments I'd like to celebrate with you." He then sang AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL. VERY NICE!!! "GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!" Next was ECHO VALLEY 2-6809. He talked about At the Copa & sang TENDERNESS & RIVER DEEP w/Candace. IMO he just has to record Tenderness.... too awesome!!!! If you have never seen him sing it, you are in for a treat!! He left to change & Candace sang RESCUE ME. David returned wearing his light blue shirt. He made a few comments about being very tired... only 2 1/2 hours of sleep and he was brain dead!! LOL David says, "Now I'm gonna take you back to 1957.... hmmmmm........ well maybe your parents can tell you about 1957! Yeah.... I heard about it too!!" He then went into his little snap routine from the Copa & sang MACK THE KNIFE. Very nice! A guy yelled to David that his wife wants to rub your head! He paused for a moment & said "which one?" Hilarious!! He cracked up! I was very happy that he sang CRY next. sigh.......... As he was getting his guitar ready for LYIN' TO MYSELF a woman asked to rub his butt...he backed up right to her and then jumped away, she missed!! Too Bad! Very funny! ROCK ME BABY, CHERISH & I WOKE UP IN LOVE THIS MORNING were next. David made a comment about the Palm Beach concert. He said some woman held up a cell phone in front of him during the concert. "What's up with that.... your friend didn't want to get a ticket to come see me?" LOL He introduced the band with his witty C'MON GET HAPPY routine. I really like that. The Dirty All Nite Boys....... now doesn't that sound familiar?! LOL He told the story about how he had to learn C'Mon Get Happy again since he only sang it once..... 30 years ago. And had never heard it again until 9 months ago. Of course he ended with I THINK I LOVE YOU. The encore was HOLLYWOOD NITES. David thanked everyone for spending the evening with him and that he would see us all again real soon! I had a wonderful time and spent the weekend in Tampa with some new DC friends.
Gosh, I forgot to mention that I did get to meet Nadine & Gina. And I waved at Teresa!! I was also in that Meet & Greet line. The friend I was with was a Gold Circle member of Ruth Eckerd Hall. We were added in with some company. Which really sucked because it didn't work out with so many people & David being tired. Oh well, I'll always have my David experience from New Orleans when I met him last month. With only a few others backstage, it was more personal than a Meet & Greet of 100. I see they are planning Meet & Greets for the Rio. I hope it works out this time.

October 19, 2001: Phoenix, AZ
Hi Friends,
I'm back from Phoenix and the Arizona State Fair, where I saw David on Friday night. He was absolutely gorgeous (duh) and had the most beautiful twinkling eyes and a little laugh mixed in with each song... he really was having a great time, and the show was fantastic!
From the moment he ran out on stage (about 10 feet in front of me because I was in the 3rd row, very center--awesome!) it was so electrifying, I just couldn't stop jumping up and down and screaming!! <sorry to the people behind me... I screamed a lot>
When Rock Me Baby started it was heaven! He's just so sexy in that song. Well, actually, in all the songs, LOL!
The song list was the usual, plus Mack the Knife (YAY!) and Tenderness, and a beautiful version of God Bless America, where he sang with his arms spread open wide, as if to embrace the audience. Wow, what a babe!!
After just a few songs, someone in the very front row must have said something a little too loud, because David stopped and said "What about my pants?" and then "I'm 51 you know." Gotta admit, those pants were tight and just right!
It went by all too fast, but it got my heart pounding for about 90 minutes nonstop! He wore a shimmery black shirt and those great black jeans (with a little white mark on the knee after singing Tenderness), and Candace was wearing the black leather with fringe like in Suzanne's pics. I couldn't take any pictures because "no flash" allowed, but it was still the best time I've ever had seeing David. He was the best.
When he started Cherish, I just couldn't stop myself, I yelled out "You are gorgeous!" and the girls in front of me turned around and said "NO KIDDING!!!!!!" We were ALL enjoying the scenery immensely.
Now I just can't think of anything else but the next show..... hurry up Thanksgiving!
While waiting for the show to start, Meesh and I wandered around the fairgrounds, and decided to get a snack. I got the homemade potato chips and Meesh got the FOOTLONG corndog...... that corndog started us giggling up a storm and we were.... uh... reminded of it throughout the concert... and that's all I'm going to say about that!
Love Carol
