(Febuary 12, 2000) Mandy Moore was scheduled to autograph at the Woodfield mall, in Shuamberg, Illinois. It was being hosted by the 92.5 Kiss F.M. radio station. I got up, around 8:45. Got ready, showered, dressed, fixed my hair, makeup, etc. It was about 10:20 after we got on the road and picked up my friend. My dad was driving, and my mom was in the front. We hadn't eaten breakfast so we stopped at the gas station, and got some drinks and donuts, and batteries for my cd/radio player. We took back off and drove all the way there. It took us an hour and twenty minutes or so to get there. Stacy (my friend) and I walked into the mall and found the Sam Goody Store. There wasn't a long line at all! So, we just waited and talked. We waited maybe 15 minutes in line. During that time we became pretty chummy with a girl named Sandy Chieng. So, we get to go into the store, and everyone either had to buy a Cd, or had to have a cd to get it signed. (I Think.) When you went into the store, you got a card. We got a blue number 5 card. There were four groups, and we were the last one, number 5. So, we were one of the 500 people that were Guaranteed her signature! All the rest of the people that weren't in the groups, had a yellow ticket, and they only got something signged if she had time to sign. She was only signing till 5 o'clock. Ok, so after that we hung out in the Sam Goody store talking to Sandy. It was past noon by that time and we needed lunch. My camera wasn't working, and I decided to go buy a camera. We ended up going to a electronic store. There were a couple of good looking guys that were helping me out, trying to get my camera to work. They wanted me to take some pictures for them! LOL. Ok, my camera got fixed, and we went to Sabbaro pizza. Then the guy there that was serving said to me, "How are you." I go, "Single Pepperoni pizza." He goes,"I said, how are you doing?" I go, "Oh, I am fine! I didn't hear you." He said, "I thought you were trying to ignore me." Then he goes, "Nice sun glasses." So I say thanks, and he askes me if he can see them. I say yes, but I need them back. He puts them on, and calls to his friend that works there, "Hey, I'm a hippi!" (My glasses are metal purple metalic frames, with light violet lenes.) Then he takes them off an gives them back to me. I say, "Hey, I'm not a hippi." He says to his friend, "Great, now she's mad at me." I tell him I'm not and "When I am mad I will be pissed." lol, that's an oxymoron, but It's an inside joke. Ok, Stacy, Sandy, and I finished our pizza, and walked back to the Sam Goody Store. It was packed even more than it was before! There was a HUGE line. Ok, so we showed the police guys our blue paper thingy, and they let us in. After like an hour of shuffeling around, in the store, it was time for Mandy to come. Group five and four were pushed to the back of the store. We had to stay off the tiled floor, and on the carpet. There was a room in the back, by where we were standing, and we thought she was in there. Of course it was like 100 degrees in that store from all the people and bad circulation, so we began fanning ourselves with the cd sale signs! It turns out she was like, a half an hour late? I think? Mandy finally arrived, and it turns out she came from the entrance of the store, so she could see all the fans that didn't get to get in the store for the signing. It got soo crazy from the people jumping around, they took all but like 30 of the yellow ticket people out of the store! I had found all that information at the time out from this other girl named Debera, and there was this other girl named Kayla Daily. Then it turns out we all started standing in line by each other, and we had a group thing going on, b.c they had blue number 5 tickets too! It turns out that Kayla, used to live in the same town I did, and she lived in the same subdivision! She is a sixthgrader, and that is why I didn't remember her. It turns out she only lived her for a while, and then she moved to Decalb, Illinois. I think. We all just waited, standing around talking and singing *N SYNC songs, and parts of Mandy Moore's songs. The whole time we were there they played Mandy's music video, "Candy" and her cd repeatedly. It was like 2 hours before we finally got there to the table where she was signing, and let me see, when I got out of the store it was, 4:20, or something close to that. But, I got up there, and handed the blue slip to the lady tha was collecting them, then I took out my booklet and handed it to the guy that was by the table, and he set it on the table and slid it to Mandy who began signing my cd booklet. I had already planned to give her a bracelet I made out of clear iridecent glass beads, and clear, austrian crystal beads that were from an old rosary. I tried to unclasp it, but I couldn't because I had the cd case in my hand so I stick my wrist out to her and, I said, "I have this bracelet for you, but I can't get it off. I made it for you!" She was soo nice! Looking down at my wrist, as she started taking it off, then she quickly looked at me and said, "OH, YOU MADE THIS!? For me?" and then it like, dropped on the table and she scooped it up, and she sat down, she then says to me, "I would hug you but I am sick!" She was soooo nice. Then I walked away from the table, and I got a free Teen Style magazine that has her on the cover and an article about her. I turn around saying like half to anyone listening and half telling the cop that I needed to take a picture of her, because I hadn't gotten any, so he told me that I could take one, but I had to hurry, or something. So, I took ONE close up picture of Mandy. It was sooo awsome to meet her! She is soo sweeet! Yesterday was the awsomest day of my life, but I am sad that it is over. After that I found my mom and she took a picture of me and Stacy and Sandy. Then Sandy left, and I got back into the crowd on the outside of the store so I could try to get some more pictures. I was there moving around in the crowd for about, twenty minutes? I am guessing. Well, I got some more, then we left, and that was it. After I got home, I called the kiss radio station, and I got in on the first call. I told the DJ my experience. It was summed up, don't worry! And he told me that he was gonna put me on the air, and he told me what he was going to say, and then something close to what I should say after he does. So, then I called Stacy, and told her I was going to be on the radio. B/c they always record it THEN put you on the radio! So, Right after I called her, and told her, she turned on her radio and We heard ME on the air!! It was soo cool! So, in short, not really, but that was my day when I met Mandy Moore! It was the best day, so far, of my life, but I am sad that it's over! I would DEFINETLY do it again if I could. And this time, I would write her a letter to give her!

  That's my story,

    Nicole B.
