I noticed that my cousin had just pulled up in her rental car and was waiting for the boys and me. I rounded up the boys and their stuff and threw the stuff in trunk of the car as they settled themselves in the backseat. I checked to make sure they had their seatbelts on correctly and climbed into the front seat.

"How was your date?" I asked my cousin as she pulled away form the curb and I put my seatbelt on.

"It was alright, I don't think I'd go out with him again" Shannon replied looking over smiling.

We resembled each other a little. We both had the family nose, which everyone joked about. That was the only way you could distinguish a McDermott at family gatherings, the nose and the line on the nose. We both also had blonde hair that over the years darkened to a light brown. She liked to dye hers blonde while I just stayed out in the sun and let it bleach my hair. But that was where the differences ended. She was average height for a 17-year-old. She was almost 18 and going to college this fall.

I, on the other hand was going to be 17 in November and going to be a senior in high school and was short for my age. I had blue eyes that many people commented on as being able to get lost in their beauty, and looked alive when I was angry. Where as my cousin's eyes changed from green to blue depending on what she wore or her mood.

"So, any hott guys at the beach" my cousin asked winking at me.

"Of course, many, many hott guys that just fell upon their knees just gazing upon me" I answered laughing.

Shannon looked over at me and just laughed saying "sarcasm noted".

"No, there really wasn't anyone there, there was this one guy who looked familiar and was pretty cute" I commented as I stopped laughing.

"Really? Details Dani, details" Shannon said giving me a look through her rear-view mirror. She sounded almost ecstatic at a hott guy sighting.

"There isn't much to say, he had dark hair and the most brilliant eyes. But I can't help but feel like I've seen him before." I said sighing as I racked my brain trying to figure out where I had seen him before.

"Well, this is California, he's probably some famous actor you've seen in a movie" Shannon said half jokingly.

"Maybe…. Oh I don't know" I answered her as we pulled up to the hotel we were staying at. We pulled the boys out of the backseat and took their stuff out of the trunk before Shannon gave the keys to the valet. As we walked into the crowed lobby of the hotel we made our way towards the elevators making sure not to drop anything or lose the boys in the confusion. There was a school reunion going on at the hotel and it was jam packed with people.

"We arrived just in time!" Shannon exclaimed stating our obvious luck at catching the elevator, which had no one else in it. As we waited for the doors to close Shannon whispered in my ear pointing out into the lobby.

"That guy's hott and he looks familiar" she said as I noticed who she was pointing at gasping telling her it was the guy form the beach. I got one more glance at him as he left the hotel before the doors to the elevator closed.
