The Mirror in Room 22 (Short Story)

airmen.gif (20410 bytes)      Six officers of the RAF are forced to spend Christmas in a desolate house serving as a Mess during WW-II. They discuss about the depressing house and the sound of a dog howling all night, although the dog cannot be seen. The group of men are joined by Wing Cdr. Adams, who was previously the CO of the same station. Adams tells the gathering that the house was reputed to be haunted by the former owner of the house, who had committed suicide in room no. 22 during Christmas. Subsequently, two occupants of the same room had been found dead, their throats cut with a razor, exactly the way that the owner had committed suicide. Adams also informs the men that he, himself,  had seen an apparition in the mirror in the aforesaid room. Presently, Flight Lt. Hopkins is the occupant of the room.... Will he also see the apparition as seen by his predecessors?
