Kristy Swanson was born on 19th December, 1969 in Mission Viejo in California. Her birth name was Kristen. She started acting in commercials (her first one was for a dolls house) aged 9. During the next 4 years she appeared in over 30 more commercials before leaving school in order to concentrate on acting full time. Both Kristen's parents were retired PE teachers and they continued to school her at home. During the 80's she appeared in classic movies such as "Ferris Buellers' Day Off" and "Pretty In Pink" as well as "Mannequin 2". In 1992, she got the role of playing the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer in the Joss Whedon movie of the same name. her co-stars in this movie included Donald Sutherland, who played her watcher Merrick, Luke Perry and Rutger Hauer. After Buffy, she also appeared in movies like "Big Daddy" and "Dude, Where's My Car?".
