Eric Schweig has the role as Pike Dexter in this movie, and everyone whose seen it has said it is a great movie...  I can only hope it will be released in Europe (Norway) on video soon, so I can have a chance to watch it myself :)

Well, over to Ann's story. (Please note that all text and pictures on this page are © copyrighted and the property of Ann Weldon. Her permission will be needed to use any of this material somewhere else!)
If you think the text looks familiar, it's because Ann also posted this at the message board.

I'm back with the start of ((( BIG EDEN)))!! Here goes........
Posted on May 12, 2001 at 12:58:18 AM by ANN

O.K. Ladies..........

Hubby believes I should start with the info from director/writer Thomas Bezucha:

Big Eden writer and director Tom Bezucha flew out from California to be present for the Boston showing of Big Eden. He is actually a native of Amherst, Massachusetts! He said he just had to be present for the Boston, Massachusetts showing!

After the film was shown, Tom invited us to stay for a question and answer interval! You've got it ladies, Mrs. Aggressive over here, ((HAD)) to have info to bring back to all my gals (YOU) here, that are waiting for Big Eden info, and all the scoop you can get on "our man Eric!" LOL

My hand was raised big time, and my question was the second one. (Not too many questions were asked).

Q: Mr. Bezucha, I happen to be a great fan of Eric Schweig, who also starred in "Last of the Mohicans" movie. Please tell us how you came to choose Eric for Pike's character, and why?

A: Ah yes, Eric is an excellent actor, and has acted in other films, and he does have many fans as I understand! I had access to interview very many Native Americans, however, with Eric, he was well suited. Because of his artistic abilities, as an artist and a carver of masks, he was most suitable for the character of Pike Dexter, who in the movie wears a mask!
(Tom's meaning here re: Pike wearing a mask, refers to a person who is very uncomfortable with his feelings and tries to hide his own sexuality).

Ladies, if/when one views Big Eden you'll understand Pike's fear and extreme nervousness / shyness. Eric Schweig did a remarkable job portraying this. Both Mike and I felt Eric is a natural in taking on a character!

Eric could stutter properly, and show a shyness that one can really understand when getting into the heart of the meaning of the movie! You'd be super proud of the the man Eric you all like so well!

Tom's second reply on Eric:

A: Also, Eric is of a Native background, and Natives are much more tolerant of homosexuality / hang ups.

This will continue on the next post following.

Here goes (((BIG EDEN))) Part II Director/Producer
Posted on May 12, 2001 at 01:41:09 PM by ANN

Hi again gals.........

After the Q&A interval was over, Tom Bezucha was walking up the aisle and came along the end where we were seated. This is when I called out to him, as the audience began exiting. He came over with a big smile, shook hands with Mike and I, and was already to pose for photo!

Here I mentioned having met Eric Schweig 2 years ago at a gathering for the movie "Last OF The Mohicans!"
He said, oh, really.... Eric is such a nice guy, it was a pleasure working with him! He shook hands with me again! LOL     Then I told him that there are Eric boards, and that I belong to this one (Marianns) and some of the girls actually had discussed him (Tom the writer/director)! He kind of marveled at this, and with big smile (there was much noise at this point) but I believe he may come and take a look! Mike and I both told him what an excellent film we thought it was, and quite well done! (Many from the audience in passing commented how much they enjoyed the film!) Tom appeared very grateful, again took my hand to heartily shake it, and said... again, it was such a pleasure to have met us! We found him to be a real down to earth happy person!

Ladies.... both Mike and I had a really good feeling that Mr. Bezucha may in time perhaps use Eric in another of his films, especially after his hearing of what a great job he (Mr. Bezucha) had done! Wouldn't that be nice, and for us too!!!!!!! We benefit! Yes?

There, I tried to give you detail, so it would be like you were almost there with me!

O.K....... I'm onto the next post to start the synopsis of "BIG EDEN" for you. I'll try to be brief, but that's difficult for me, I usually end up in detail. If you don't care for full detail, you'll have to let me know.... just be
nice! LOL

Eric Schweig as Pike Dexter in Big Eden

((((( BIG EDEN ))))) movie synopsis ROSIE... take notice Dwight gets into this film!
Posted on May 12, 2001 at 02:49:16 PM by ANN

First: I ask you all to excuse any and all typos, misspelled words, and grammatical errors. I will NOT go back from (preview post) as last night I nearly lost my message to you. The dang area was blank. I took a chance to
back out and then it came back. Whew! Thus, you'll have to put up with NO corrections. I'm too slow a typist, and not enough time to do over. O.K.?....... O.K.

Synopsis.... BIG EDEN

The film starts out with a scene where you the viewer is in a helicopter/or plane atop the view of a city. It turned out to be New York City where Henry Hart (the main character alongside Pike (Eric) lives and works. Oh, before I forget: The music was fantastic. Those of you who are not Country music fans will differ in opinion, however, it fits this film! Henry gets word (phone call) from back home in Montana that his Grandfather is quite ill. Nearly in tears he readies himself, packs to return to his hometown. This takes place after some very humorous bickering and digs from a female friend/ coordinator of the Art Gallery Henry had been participating in! He leaves and there starts more viewing as we glide along scenic highways of a car driving back home (Montana). Nice music goes on all the time as you glide over the scenic beauty! (((ROSIE..... this parts for you))) as the car moves Mr. Tight Pants Dwight is singing "I'm A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" Rosie, I laughed to myself as I thought of you here! Wouldn't you know?.... Rosie gets her Dwight to serenade her, in a movie that features Eric!!! Ah Rosie... you benefit with this flick gal! LOL
As he gets home Henry is next at the hospital by his grandfather in bed. Henry is heartbroken, and to our surprise, the dying grandfather returns replies to Henry with unexpected humor! He's greeted by old friend Grace, a teacher at a school and good friend. Henry helps her out with some school children in classroom, another scene. Grandpa tends to recover enough to go home and Henry is greeted by old town friends. When Henry arrives, he's reunited with Dean his best friend and first love, who has also recently returned home -- separated from his wife, and yet now having had two sons! Henry can't believe his ears, that his male love actually has fathered two sons! He's almost beside himself in disbelief.
Ladies..... the scenes change back and forth dramatically, and it's hard for the memory to keep up. However I'm trying to push forward to part of Pike (Eric) that I'm believing you are salivating over! LOL They find need for some good meals for Grandpa at home, and this leads to a General Store. Always in front of or inside, there are the towns old men who loiter all day long, sit and to me were the part of the town gossips! tee hee
Pike renews acquaintances, and then is introduced to the General Stores sexy, tall, and striking new owner... Pike Dexter ( Eric Schweig)! Pike stutters tremendously as his eyes meets with Henrys, and Pike shies away, in idea, that he doesn't want to talk. See, Pike is drawn to Henry. Wearing a MASK from his own feelings of sexuality, it's hard for Pike to talk to an attracting male. They plot about some meals needing to be made
(Pike's store possibly having food supply)! There's a nutty humorous old skinny ol' lady character that cooks the most inedible meals for Grandpa. Pike was hired to deliver her meals to the old Grandpa of Henry.
All with Big Sky Montana scenery, the lovely homey log cabin homes including Pike's store with the front porch and the old Skeeter Davis singing a song ( Years ago Skeeter Davis of "The End Of The World" song fame, was one of my favorites, so I was truly enjoying the well made film), music makes for some gratifying enjoyment to the viewer!

Sorry, BREAK TIME! Yah, I know, it's a tease for you, but I'll come back with the juicy, I promise.
Thanks for understanding.

((( BIG EDEN))) correction and (((SOUND TRACK))) information.....
Posted by ANN on 5/14/2001, 3:25 pm

Gals..... Re-reading some of the material I obtained in Boston at the movie showing, I noticed I made an error in saying that Tom Bezucha was producer also. This is an error on my behalf. Mr. Bezucha was the films writer and director. Also.... Mr. Bezucha also told us that there is a SOUND TRACK being worked on at
present, that there have been so many requests for the Sound Track! You will understand why when you view the film. I enjoyed the music/songs immensely! Thanks again.

Back soon,
ANN

(((BIG EDEN))) Soap Opera continues..... Posted by ANN on 5/15/2001, 3:20 pm

Ready ladies? Then come along with me as we nosey into the lives of Henry and Pike! Oh, and BTW Lonnie, Spike, bow-wow whatever, just remember I can't do as good as you, with you being an author. I didn't write this stuff, it's just that you'll find I tend to add my opinionated opinions in! LOL  O.K......... so here we have Henry who's (parent's are deceased), leaves his job/friends in New York to go back home to Montana to care for Grandpa (Sam Hart). Carrying and eighteen year crush on Dean Stewart, His best friend from high school, and his first love. Only to come back home having to find Dean (who also returned home, separated from his wife), and having fathered two sons. Henry is beside himself with unbelief that Dean actually fathered two boys.
Trying to hide the fact of his difference in sexuality from the town busy bodies, who seem to know everything anyway! On the other hand here's Pike Dexter (Eric), the tall, dark, handsome Native Indian, and sexy owner of the town's general store. This becomes a problem for Henry, as well as for Pike who being so shy, and is surprised with himself being so unusually attracted to Henry.

Before I forget, please note, that it is quite difficult to keep the scenes in an exact order, when I've only viewed the movie one time. I'm sure you'll get the general overall picture by the time it's altogether! Pike has a problem in figuring how he's going to deal with a feeling he appears to have happen inside him, whenever his eyes have to meet, and look into the eyes of Henry. An attraction that Pike doesn't understand himself. When Henry comes into the store to purchase goods, Pike's faced with a difficulty speaking to him. You almost have to feel sorry for Pike, he's extremely shy, stutters when he has to speak, you can almost feel the butterflies within, whenever he's
conversing with Henry. Oh yah, you know it, the nosey ol' coots that sit around and loiter all day in the General Store. You can imagine the eyes and the faces, the sudden silence( ears straining to hear), of these ol' men who don't miss a trick, especially when it comes to a conversation between Henry and Pike! Some of these town gossips sit outside the General Store too! LOL *** Gals, I know I can tell you that (Eric's) eyes can speak! From many of the movies you've seen of him, your experience will make it so easy for you to know what Pike is thinking, and his next move! After meeting up with Henry on several occasions....... the delivering of meals, and Henry there to greet him at the front door. It's building now, Pike's intrigue with Henry is getting to be more than he can take. He's got to find a way to catch Henry's attention (this is Pike's thinking). One night Pike gets an idea, (you will probably roar as Pike consults his ever faithful dog by his side)! Cooking, delicious meals,........ that's it! Pike quickly heads for a bookshelf in the wall, searching through the titles, pulls out "The Joy Of Cooking" cookbook! He's just gotta impress Henry somehow! Several scenes follow, Pike consulting his cookbook and with deep interest prepares the most delectable dishes imaginable! *** Ladies......... in order to have a real idea of Pike's involvement with his culinary arts, I invite you to go to www.bigeden.com and pull up the photos page. The last row on the right, fourth photo down! LOL I think you'll howl with laughter on one
scene with Pike frantically cutting into freshly caught fish! Gotta give this chap credit, as he puts forth his best effort to present the most beautiful, and mouth watering displays to make an impression with the Grandfather of his attraction! All the while, the recipients thinking this is the hand of old Widow Thayer! The laughter from the audience is fun, when as Widow Thayer is sometimes nearly shocked as she's complimented on a dish, (that you can see by her facial expressions), is of a title she's not even heard of! Then the perplexed look as she's still trying to figure it out! You see, Pike switched her meals and presented Grandpa with with his delightful cuisine! ah ha ha Another scene that follows is late one night with faithful dog by his side, sits Pike, now consulting a computer, for more interesting, and impressive gourmet recipes! LOL Camera focuses on the computer screen that shows a large recipe! Unexpectedly, who comes through the door but Henry....... and a fumbled quick
rush to click off the computer so Henry not know what Pike is up to! More audience laughter! There are scenes with Grace, (who knows)! Hugs and comforts, the tears he can comfortably shed in her arms. Her gentle understanding, and her encouragement to let it out. Henry cannot. His need to hide his secret (which by the way most of the people know) is still too deep within, too much fear. There are the times in the movie that soften your heart and you weep, with compassion for the agony within him. Comedy returns with a scene where nosey ol' Widow Fletcher has planned an all male, gay party! The merriment, food, music..... unbelievable what this
woman will do! This is followed by a scene previous, where a Again, you'll sit in laughter when a "Welcome home" party for Henry with all (((females))) present, and trying to hang on to him, really doesn't go over too well with for him! Although he was polite, Widow knew, she'd have to come up with a better idea. The all male party being next on her busybody agenda! LOL Many times Pike is invited to stay for dinner, to join Grandpa and Henry. I think you can imagine the popping eyes , blushing cheeks, the stutter, and the rush for the door after he politely thanks and makes excuses, that he can't stay. At the same time with all these scenes, there's a disappointment for Henry, as Pike nervously declines his invitations. Henry, still baffled and a bit depressed with Dean who tends to be around in most scenes. In the church services, a town get together BBQ, etc. In one
church service, Dean sitting in the pew with his sons, and giving the obvious eye to his old friend/love Henry. Henry and Dean usually have found a private place to talk, whenever they can. In one scene by the car Henry confronts Dean with his disappointing anger, asking him "How, how could you have actually had two sons? I waited 18 years, never hearing a word from you." Henry is torn apart by Dean presence. You can almost feel his agony. Then, to make matters worse, he's faced with his intrigue with the tall, sexy Indian who hardly speaks to him, makes continuous excuses to exit, and Henry is in total loss with his feelings. We come to a part where Henry finally confronts Pike with a more aggressive coaxing to join him for dinner as Pike delivers the meal. Pike asks, "where's Grandpa ? Henry replies "he's sleeping!" There eyes meet, nearly locked with intrigue with each other. Pike must have a million butterflies in his stomach, he gasps for a breath, and the tension builds. Pike barely gets the words "I'll be right back" out of his mouth. He rushes home, and you'll again roar along with the audience, as he fumbles through his closet looking for something to wear! Something sexy, something impressive so Henry would take notice! LOL
*** The expression on Pike's face similar to we women..... "Gee, I haven't a thing to wear!" ah ha ha

To be continued.............
