Staff Writer Take a deep breath because Analecta club is preparing to sell the first issue of this year's literary magazine. The goal of the members is to have the issue published by the second week of February. The group hopes to publish a second collection sometime in April. Analecta, includes drawings, photos, poems, short stories, and essays combined into a single book, have been working on this issue since the beginning of first semester. "The issue has work of students both in and out of the club that the students are particularly proud of," said Analecta sponsor Toni Freeman. The club meets about every other Thursday and is an after school activity open to anyone who is interested. It is no easy task being in the club though; the students have to go in and edit every piece of writing that is submitted. "The club is a lot harder than it may sound," stated Editor-in-Chief Cynthia Butler. Liana Johnson, a sophomore in the club, has dedicated many hours doing some of the drawings for the latest issue. She was also the artist who created the cover for last year's issue. "It's very hard being in Analecta because we have to take a lot of time to make it look nice," commented Johnson. If you want a copy of this year's issue, you should hurry and buy one, because there are only about 50 copies printed. The cost for each book will be $5. |
